I wore the shoes for running and the feeling of something hurting my foot arch was constant. First time buying Hoka and the result is that my feet have blisters after wearing it.
I was recommended for this model shoe because I have over pronation.
I love the color but they hurt my feet badly.

Tried 2 pairs and with both, the younger on the right shoe was folded where it was sewn in at the base. Had to return both pairs because it rubbed the top of my foot/toes. Really wanted to love this shoe but it is defective.

Oh wow these I ordered in Regulars and they are way too wide! I overpronate with my arch support in them. I have wide feet and wore the Arhani 6s in 9M which I cannot get anymore and everything I read says the Arhani 7s are narrow. I was in hope these would work...have to send back

Waayyy too hard and stiff. Little cushion. I was hoping for a Bondi 8 experience with a wider toe ... Fail

Did not work at all for me. I ordered wide and it looked like a clown shoe, not kidding! I didn’t even try them on, sent back same day received.

I don't know what changed in the design from the Gaviota 4 to the 5, but the 5 is about 1/2 inch wider than the previous version. When I initially ordered the 5, I did accidentally order wide, but exchanged them for a medium width. There doesn't seem to be much difference between the medium and wide. It is almost as if they are unisex sized. I loved the previous version. Sadly, I am going to have to either find a different style or switch back to Asics brand that I have worn for over 10 years.
Disappointed,

I absolutely love my Gaviota 4s, so I was excited to get the Gaviota 5. I was extremely disappointed, as the toe box is ridiculously wide. As others have mentioned, they look like clown shoes. Sadly, I returned them.

This new style is awful!! I normally wear a size 9 but with this new style the 9 is to big and the 8.5 is to small. The front of the shoes is a square shape. Like shoes I like the old style.

I always wear a 7.5 Wide the old Gaviota 4 I had were awesome. The new version are way too big. I suffer from plantar fasciitis, have collapsed arches, and I over pronate. I even put in my protalus M95 insoles, they are very uncomfortable to run in and does not provide the usual support that the older version had. I had thrown the box away and I am unsure if I can return them. I would not recommend these!!

Fit started out fine, use them for treadmill work 3x a week. Over time the inside part of the heel (collar) has folded down inside the shoe. Makes it feel like there is minimal contact between my foot and the shoe. Constantly feel like I am going to step out of the shoe. Will probably start to rub my heal soon and cause a blister. Probably should have gotten a shoe with a higher heel/collar.

I really loved the Gaviota 4's for running. The J frame is what I needed and what my foot loves. I would get peroneal tendonitis in my foot before I tried Hokas and the Gaviotas really supported my feet. The Gaviota 5's are just way too wide! I have fairly wide feet and loved the 4's, but even lacing the 5's tight, they are still too wide/large in the toe box. So unfortunate and sad because now I need to find a new running shoe that supports my tendonitis. Hoka, please go back to the 4 width!!!!

These are my first Hokas. I found them to be really comfy and liked them for the most part. I bought them March 9th and it's now April 21st. I've put on fewer than 10 miles running and probably 10 miles walking and the bottoms are already breaking down. These are the priciest shoes I've ever purchased and also the worst quality. I've trained for and run marathons in other shoes that haven't broken down so badly/quickly. These are terrible quality.

These fit horribly. There is some weird bump in the shoe on the side that hits my foot wrong very uncomfortable. Problem is I threw the box away, so I can't return them.

I have 2 pairs of Gaviota 4slove them! I ordered the Gaviota 5 same size (wide). They are way too big, not just in width but in length too.
NO comparison to the Gaviota 4. Returning and frustrated. What is going on at Hoka? (So many 1 star reviews on different new models-I'm not sure what brand to try now.) :(

This shoe is a great disappointment for me. The H frame is supposed to provide increased stability; however, in my case, even ordering a regular width when I had always purchased a wide width, this shoe made my feet look like I was wearing diving flippers, or had duck feet. The plushness is there as always, but the wideth of the toe box even in regular size made me feel unsteady. I reluctantly went back to Brooks (Ariel), and then found a "sale" for ta pair of the old Gaviota 4.

these shoes are just terrible compared to the Gaviota 4's. They run longer and much, much wider. They look like clown shoes on my feet.
I threw away the box the day they came, thinking they would fit like the 4's did and now I regret it because I can not return them. DO NOT BUY these shoes without trying them on somewhere, what a waste of $180

The toebox on the Gaviota 5 is ridiculously wide. It flares out so much that it doesn't fit most human feet. The new fit has made it impossible to wear for me and many Gaviota wearers. Hoka needs to go back to the original fir or make a Narrow version. They've ruined a shoe that has been my "go to" shoe for years. I'm now forced to change brands.

I've been buying a couple of pairs of Gaviotas a year for the last few years and have always appreciated the updates until this version. The new width makes them unwearable for me. Tried the Arahi but it is not cushioned enough for me. I ended up going back to Brooks for a better fit.

Hoka changed the fit on the Gaviota 5 and a regular now fits like a wide. What about options for women who have normal or slim feet?! Had to return them immediately and am still trying to find a replacement.

I got my foot sized to ensure I was wearing the best size for me and I did extensive research on a pair that was good for everyday walking and comfort. Wearing these shoes at work, made my feet and calves hurt so much. I don't understand the hype of these shoes and I would not recommend them.

I am finding the quality/durability of these shoes has changed. I purchased a pair in February and they are worn out. I walk on average 5 miles a day and feel that shouldn't happen at this price point. Very disappointed in HOKA

I have been a die hard Hoka Gaviota fan - the only shoe that allowed me to run outside with bad ankles/feet/knees. Bout the 5s thinking they'd be the same, but they are horrible. Had to switch brands as Gaviota were the only Hoka running shoe that had enough stability for me.
