Well I'm sad to report that the Gaviota 5 is SO different than the Gaviotas before it that I had to return them after my husband got me a new pair for my birthday. The toe box is so wide that they don't feel stable like I need them to be. And they look ridiculous compared to the 3s and 4s. I have to wear the most stable shoe because of how high my arches are and I'm extremely disappointed that now I don't know what I will do since I can't find 4s to purchase anywhere. Please bring back the Gaviota 4!!!

My shoes came looking as if someone had worn them. For 175.00 they didn't have any tissue stuffing in them and were so wide.

Wore Gaviota 3& 4 for years. Loved them. The 5 is too wide ( my feet are on the narrow side) & not comfortable. I look like a clown in them. Why Hoka, why change something that worked. I'm desperately searching for gaviota 4's but no luck. Hoka please go back to the J frame which was not as wide.

I Work in the hospital and i normally wear these to work for 12 hour shifts, although i bought the Gaviota 4's a few years ago and those were amazing, they lasted for a while too. Unfortunately when Hoka released the Gaviota 5's they stopped selling the Gaviota 4's on the website. So i bought the 5's hoping they were going to be an improvementto the 4's even though i noticed the design was a bit different, i had hoped for an improvement, or atleast similar quality to the Gaviota 4's. Sad to say, the gaviota 5's are terrible, i had them for about 3 months total and havent even wore them daily and they hurt my feet badly. when walking they arent too bad, but my entire foot is in pain when wearing these and they didnt last long. i would never buy these again, i prefer the Gaviota 4's.

They only last about 3 months and I only wear for maybe 3 hours a day. For the price it's unacceptable that they don't last longer than 3 months before falling apart. Don't know if I will ever buy again

Shoes are great and I have already reordered direct from Hoka. But the pair I was sent from Zappos had already been worn. Not only was there dirt on the soles but there was a big stain down the side. Really disappointing. I think I’m done with Zappos. Just hasn’t been the same since Amazon took over.

Great shoes! Why did you change them so much from the 4's??
Way too wide! NOT the same shoe. It seems all these updates yoh are doing to your line of shoes is not great. I love my old Holas and have many pairs. Unfortunately, all these changes I am going to have to find a new shoe company.

Gaviota came recommended by podiatrist but they have now made the front toe box wider almost looks like a paddle produck bill. Comfy but beyond un attractive in the black on black. Maybe it's because it's all one color but I have to return just not worth the $$ if I'm embarrassed to wear them

I've worn Gaviota 5's for YEARS. They have been my saving grace to get through my 12 hour shifts as a nurse and not feel debilitated at the end of the day due to my plantar fasciitis. HOWEVER -- I bought a new pair this year to replace my worn out pair from last year and I couldn't even make it through one shift. I knew something was WRONG. I triple checked that I had ordered the correct shoe, convinced I had made an ordering error because all the previous years I had just reordered the same shoe. Nope -- Hoka made an update to the structure of the sole, the "H frame" and it's HORRIBLE. My arches were aching, my heels so sore I could hardly stand.
On one hand, I can understand updating shoes and advancing research on support styles, and by all means Hoka, please do that! However, can you please just make a new model of shoe entirely instead of messing with a shoe that has been around for so long?? I can't find the old model for sale ANYWHERE and now I'm back to the drawing board to find another shoe that I can wear to work, and I could cry. It took me many years of suffering to even find these and they made such a difference in my quality of life. Now I have to start over and it's quite daunting.
The shoes are great.....unless you get this newest model. 1 star is all I can give.

I have had two previous pairs Gaviota, and loved them.Literally wore both pair out. So when I purchased this pair, I assumed they'd fit and perform just as well. The first time I wore them, I noticed a little pain in the balls of my feet. Didn't think much of it..I stand and walk a lot for my job. By the fourth wear, my feet were hurting so much that it hurt to walk. I stopped wearing these shoes and went to the Bondi pairs that I have. Feet started to feel better. A month or so goes by, and I wore these again just to run to the store..not terrible, but definitely some pain. Tried them for the last time, and my feet hurt so bad, I had to go back home to switch shoes. So I looked up the extended warranty, dealt with a wonderful customer service person who had me take photos of my shoes, foot, etc. I just received an email saying they won't accept the shoes back (Just wanted to exchange for another pair). I had them just over 90 days, and did not wear for at least a third of that. I have six pairs of hoka shoes right now(plus others I used to have and wore out) and every other experience has been fantastic. The fact that these weren't, and that Hoka won't do a thing to resolve the problem, is ridiculous. I just got my husband his first pair, so we would have been buying many many more pairs of shoes. Bad pair of shoes, even worse customer service, Hoka.

I have 6 pairs of Clifton's and a Gaviota in another color. But these shoes were a total disappointment. I have had them 4 months and holes are coming in the toe section and the sole is completely warn out. And Hoka will not honor its warranty. For almost $200 I expected much better. I have loved Hoka but they do not stand behind their product. I will be looking for another brand!

while the foot inside of the shoe fit fine, the outside is so large and WIDE that it looks you are wearing clown shoes! Why is the outside of the shoe so wide while the inside is a normal fit???

I have the Gaviota 3 shoe which I loved! This new product, Gaviota 5,was so wide in the toe box, it looked like a Croc shoe and importantly, it didn't fit properly. It was too wide but a half size smaller would have been too short. I am really disappointed and unfortunately, sent the shoe back today :(

I've ran in the Gaviota shoe since 2020 and loved all pairs but this one. The arches of my feet now hurt, I have Achilles pain and my calves are miserable. I've tried to make these shoes work for 2 months but I can't run (can't even walk comfortably) in them. Super disappointed in this shoe.

I have been wearing Graviotas for at least 5 years now, 6 days a week in my exercise class. I need the most ultra plush and stability shoe available and they have been a godsend. My current pair ( the 4)is 2 1/2 years old and I have been hesitant to buy the 5 b/c many, many reviewers are saying they have ruined the shoe by changing it! Unfortunately, the reviews are correct. The shoe has been ruined. Extremely wide, my feet are swimming in them so the stability is not there (I wear a wide in the 4 so that tells you how wide they are), all the cushion in the front of the shoe is gone and I can no longer jump or kick without feeling pain in my knees and ankles. PLEASE bring back the Graviota 4!! I am now going to have to try other brands which is a real shame as I am huge Hoka fan. I have the Bondi's for everyday and the hiking boots for Switzerland. Can't believe you changed a great shoe.

After wearing these HOKA for only 5 months 2-3 days per week they fell apart. The front of the shoe on both feet began to separate. I submitted a manufacturer warranty claim that was denied and the only answer I received was I could try again. I was not about to waste more money on shipping again. Terrible product. I will no longer purchase from HOKA and will not promote the shoes.
