Sent them back because the toe box was too wide and the sides and hee hurt. I rally want to try the Bondi 8 but can't keep trying up so much money.

This is the second set of Hoka Gaviotas that I've purchased for my 10 year old daughter. The first pair were fantastic and lasted her a full year. This pair have been incredibly disappointing! The pull tab has shredded/frayed completely and she's only had them since 7/13/24. She's not hard on her shoes and has not done anything to cause the damage.

I've had gaviotas for a few months now and I wear them for 2-3 mile runs about 3x/week. Within 4 months, the back of the heel had basically disintegrated where the fabric layer and foam had degraded down to the plastic shell. The shoe is my size and doesn't feel too tight but for some awful reason, the fabric in the back is so unstable. This also happened with my Bondis after a few months. I've never had this issue with any other running shoe like Nike. Obviously it's too late for a refund. This is crazy coming from an expensive brand like this.

I was fitted at Schulers shoes as a 10, these are too big, my heels slips even with multiple sock toys. I don't want to wait for a month for my money! I live on SS and I need to walk for my health.

Well I just missed the return deadline but have tried many pair of the newest Hoka Gaviota and something defiantly has changed. They have aggravated my foot to a point it is in pain when I wear them and I'm not sure what to do other than look for another shoe all together. They were the bomb for many years and I'm so sad! Back to feet hurting all the time!

I am a hoka fan but these shoes have NO TOE SUPPORT! I hate that I spent this much and can't even wear them without having severe toe pain!

My go to Hoka has been the Stinson ATR 6. In my opinion, this shoe is absolutely perfect or should I say was perfect? Sadly, I have been unable to locate a replacement pair so I started looking for an alternative. Unfortunately, I read too many reviews, that guided me to the Gaviota. This is so far from being a replacement for my Stinson ATR 6. There is very little arch support, minimal padding under foot, and insufficient heel grip or toe space. I've given up on trying to find an alternative and have reluctantly purchased the Stinson ATR 7. I just love that Stinson shoe, not a huge fan of the 7, but I think I can get used to it. Hoka: please please please, stop messing with your shoes. The Stinson ATR 6 was perfect, why did you change it? i'd buy five pairs of them if I could find them!

I wish Hoka kept the fit the same as the Gaviota 4. The Gaviota 5 are a MUCH wider fit (Medium width), so I am swimming in them, and not able to wear Hoka's anymore. I have had multiple foot surgeries and needed these stability shoes for daily use, and the Gaviota 4 helped me walk hundreds of miles so comfortably. Now I am stuck searching for a shoe that fits :-( Please Hoka, bring back the old fit!

This new version of the Gaviota is awful. I had the previous version and loved the support and fit, however, the material ripped (in under a year) and I needed a replacement. By this time, the version of the Gaviota I had was no longer available and I had to choose the new version. The new Gaviota looks very similar to the Bondi. I love the look of the Bondi but it did not support my feet properly. It seems like they took the Bondi and changed the name to Gaviota without adding the support elements needed. The Gaviota is no longer supportive, as it once was, and doesn't have the firm piece of materiel on the inside of the arch (to prevent collapse) as the previous version had. I now have a collapsed arch after wearing these shoes daily for the last two months. I am also just out of the 60 day window (by 7 days) and cannot return, according to the website. Going through the warranty return was a huge hassle, and customer service was terrible, but I am going to try to get some help. BEWARE if you liked the previous Gaviota version!

Sharp insole. Tried them on and walked just a few steps feeling a sharp pain on the right side insole. After examine what the cause was, it was the inner right side of the insole jabbing my foot. Overall the insoles are not cut right and very hard/sharp.
I'd also recommend:

Gaviota 5 gave me the same issue that Bondi 8 did, a sore and irritated arch (which is horrible for anyone with plantar fasciitis). The width along the arch is smaller in this new version, and the toe box is comically wider. Please bring back Gaviota 4, that was a perfect shoe.

So sad. These shoes seems so odd and awkward when wearing. It feels like your heel drop and front of the foot lifts. Almost like walking on your heels, and it hurts! These are the awkward shoes I ever wore. Sadly returned..

Feels like Hoka took the Bondi 8, slapped a Gaviota 5 label on them & called it a new model (oh and is now charging almost $200 for them!!) I have been running in Stability Shoes ie ASICS for 20+ years (high school, college & beyond). Had to switch from ASICS Gel because everyone seems to be all about lightweight this & that for running shoes & forgets about the fundamentals & function in that particular running shoe!! Switch to Hoka ran in the 4 previous Gaviota models, until they were unavailable/discontinued. Switched to the Bondi 6 & 7, they were great neutral running shoes. Then came the Bondi 8, which I pulled a muscle in my Calf & had to take 2 years off running bc of that!! Now the new Graviota has less cushioning & zero motion control and other motion control shoes are going down the same 'lighter is better road ' I'm worried that in 2 years I'm not going to be able to find running shoes that are true Motion Control anymore! Stop trying to improve on a shoe that works, sometimes newer is NOT better!!

In less than 4 months one of the shoes got a hole in the top. They were worn by an 87 year old, with mobility issues, inside the house for a few hours a day, so not used hard. Drove 4 hours to take them back to the store where they were purchased and told to put duck tape on it. Contacting Hoka was a waste of time. Despite being told the customer was elderly & had significant mobility issues, they said the policy requires them to be mailed back to be evaluated, with no guarantee of a replacement. Shoes this expensive should be made with quality materials that can withstand 4 months of use by an elderly, barely mobile woman. The lack of good customer service, and common sense, demonstrated that Hoka doesn't stand behind their product.

After reading a positive article about this shoe, I purchased a pair. They are too wide and hurts the top of my right foot. They did not feel very supportive for my feet. My hope was that it would cushion the middle of my feet.

This shoe is super wide. I ordered an 11B and it felt like I was wearing clown shoes. Had to return. I already have large feet - don't need them to look any larger!

Ordered the Hoka Gaviota 5 in a wide width and a whole size larger than I normally wear to accommodate a broken foot. Not only were they ugly, crooked, too small and uncomfortable, but the foam around the heels was waaaaaay too thick and pushed hard into my ankles. For the life of me, I cannot understand why Hoka One One has started overstuffing the tops of the heels and making the tongues so long that they also dig into the ankle. Used to LOVE this brand, but no more.

Zappos has been a little less perfect lately. This is the second time I was sent the wrong item. Last time this happened I was sent the wrong size. This time I was sent 2 different styles: a Gaviota 5 and an Arahi 6 at least they both Hoka.

Hoke used to be my favorite shoe. I wore arahi 6 's for years. when they updated the at toe box it was too small so I sent them back and tried Gaviota. They had the same problem. The toes were squashed. I'll have to find another shoe brand until Hoka fixes it's improvement s

These run really wide and large. The Hoka sizing seems too inconsistent to buy online. I can't be bothered so I returned them.
