This is so strange. I do not have any sort of overpronation and these shoes are supposed to combat that. When I put them on and walked around I strongly felt like my feet were turning inward. I can't express this enough, I don't walk like that at all. This is my 3rd pair of Hokas to try on and I was hoping these were the ones. With the information given and the reviews it felt like these would be a match for me but I'm so taken aback at how they would do such a weird thing to my feet. It's truly unfortunate that people with wide feet have to go through so many orders and returns to find a shoe that works. I really wish stores would carry wide supportive shoes. I know this isn't good for Zappos but I really feel guilty ordering and returning so many shoes. I just want to wear comfortable shoes and I can't figure it out.

The toe box is much bigger & wider than the gaviota 4 & 5. My foot did not feel supported as a result. They looked like clown shoes on my feet. I went to a store & tried on the next size down but they were too small-my big ties were scrunched.
Had to return them.

For the first time in decades a size 7 is too big for me. I see they equate eu 38 with US 7...it should be eu 37. Got these online by mail and am overwhelmed about how to make this right for a very expensive shoe that can't be worn.

This is the first time I have had to return a pair of Hokas. I hope the return process goes smoothly and I am credited the entire amount. These were the most expensive, and the most painful shoes I have worn walking or running. I thought the high stabilization rating would help my arthritis, but the shoes are so wide that I ended up with massive blisters and very painful feet after the first try. Go with the Challenger, Transport, or Speedboat. The Gaviota are torture!

I have loved the Gaviota shoes, until version 5. I have been wearing it since version 2. It seems each "improvement" was a bit less stabilizing in the midfoot area. This doesn't fit or feel at all like a Gaviota. The shoe is overly wide for a B width, even with thick socks this was not even close to a shoe that fit my foot. I really hope Hoka gets the next version back on track for those of us that have loved that shoe style. Alas, no more Hokas for me until they are resized and more stabilizing in the mid foot.

My orthopedic doctor suggested this shoe to help me stabilize my ankle. It has not done that. The shoe is light and has a very wide toe box. It is very uncomfortable for me when walking.

I had high hopes for these shoes but was greatly disappointed. My husband swears by Hokas and says they completely eliminate his foot pain, so I gave them a try. First, I found them hard to walk in. The front of the shoe is so wide, I feel like I'm trying to walk in clown shoes. Second, there is so much cushion in the front of the shoe it shifts my weight to my heels causing heel pain. Third, after wearing them for a couple of days, my feet hurt so bad I could hardly bear standing at the end of the day. They made the bottoms of my feet feel like they were covered in stone bruises. I am returning the shoes for a refund.

My foot now slops around in the toe box and I have a regular width foot. These shoes are a full half inch (if not more) wider than the Gaviota 4. They're already huge and clunky but now they're even more huge and clunky. I guess the company decided to push the limits on how wide a shoe can sell. I'd be concerned wearing this shoe anywhere that wasn't flat ground because my foot would be slipping all over in the shoe. For $180 after shipping tax - ya, they're going back.

Disappointed and returning. These are very wide and offer no arch support as compared to other brands.

I need a shoe with a wide toe box and and narrow heel, and loved my old Gaviotas for their fit, support, stability and cushioning. But this latest design is way too extreme! With a boat-like toe box they are neither supportive nor stabilizing, and look like something Mickey Mouse would wear for a clown costume. Even the regular width was too wide. Back they went.

The Gaviota 4 was fantastic. The 5 is terrible, the toe box is too big and there is minimal support under the toe box. What a terrible disappointment. I hope the version 6 is more like the 4 or, unfortunately, I will be shopping for a new brand. I have worn the same size for years and the 5 is longer.

The sneakers hurt my feet. I am a nurse and I am on my feet for long hours. These are not a fit for anyone that are constantly on their feet. I am definitely returning them.

My first pair of Hoka shoes was the Gaviota 2, recommended by my doctor to help relieve plantar fasciitis pain. Stable and plush. I liked them so much, I bought 3 pairs over the period of a couple years. My feet never felt better. Now nothing else will do.
Then the Gaviota design changed to a shorter more narrow toe box. I kept a eye on it as I began to look around for a replacement. Time began to run out. The Gaviota 5 seemed to return to it's former design so I went to a local store to get a pair.
Disappointing is an understatement. The Gaviota 5 made a change, but not for the better. Wide! the overall profile is huge. My feet looked ginormous. I'm afraid I'd be tripping over my own feet with those protruding soles. The toe is much wider; the length a little shorter. I went up a half size. Even wider, my feet were swimming in my shoes, fabric rippling back and forth as I moved. More ginormous. Narrow width is not offered.
I don't have duck feet; don't like clown shoes. Tried the Arahi, but it just didn't work for me.
Looking for a replacement. Tried other brands in a specialty store with professional help. Nothing even remotely as good as the Gaviota 2.
Waiting for Hoka to bring it back. It wasn't broken, why the need to fix it?

Never received from FedEx. Hoka was suppose to investigate with FedExthey said it was delivered but it was not. Contacted customer service to try to figure out if I reorder if same thing would happen. She told me that I can have FedEx do signature on delivery. Next order was UPS :( so a lot of good that did. Haven't received my other order and tried to cancelnot able to cancel. The online process with Hoka is awful. The customer service is not well trained and not helpful. They blamed porch pirates and other nonsense. I have a doorbell camera. No fed ex truck or person ever stopped by the house. All the other deliveries were on the porch. Worse than dealing with the government because it's a bunch of steps with no results. Buy in storeor just pick another brand like Brooks or New Balance. Better quality and better customer service. Much more knowledgeable and easy to deal with if any issues. If you want to pay for shoes that never come inthis is the place for you. I tried to resolve it with their team but I would not recommend you waste your time or energy. Just call your credit card company because no one I have dealt with can ever resolve an issue. Not my first order but will be my last. Love my New Balance 990s. Love my Brooks Adrenalines. Love my Brooks Ghost. Considering no longer buying UGGs bc part of the same parent company too. OOFAS is a much much better recovery sandal FYI.

I purchased 2 Gaviotas pairs, one in black, the other gray. The black ones were so wide that I thought I accidentally bought "wide" instead of normal width. No matter how I laced them, they are still way too wide, so all the support & comfort i get from the Gaviota 4s are non-existent in the 5s because the fit if off. I then realized the black ones are the Gaviota 5s, and the gray ones are Gaviota 4s. So disappointing as the 4s gave me so much relief from my chronic knee and back pain. Now I'm stuck with a $200 pair of shoes I can not wear, and I'm without a good, supportive shoe when I need to replace my Gaviota 4s. Back to square one in my shoes quest.
I'd also recommend:

I have 3 pairs of previous Gaviota styles, and I loved them. But the Gaviota 5 is an entirely different shoe. Toe box is too big and there is not the cushion I expected. I returned, very dissatisfied, and bought an ASICS Gel-Kayano 30. They feel like my old Gaviota!

I've been wearing the Gaviota for a few years. I got this one home and wore it for 5 days. My ankles, knees and hip were killing me so I went back to my old worn out pair. I called customer service yesterday and they told me that they thought the frame was changed from a J frame to a H frame since the last time I bought a pair (last September). She recommended that I try the Arahi because it's on the J frame. So, I'm sending these back and ordered the Arahi to try.

These shoes are not comfortable my ankles were sore after one day. No support. I have 2 pair bondi 7. The best. And they stooped making the bondi 7 for women. Bondi 7 is better for arthritis feet.

Relied on these for many years for work and anytime I'll be on my feet for long periods of time and the changes have ruined what was once a great shoe that highly recommended to everyone. Where 8D and the changes made them run half size too big, the toe box is way too big, the heel has no support and feels lower than rest of shoe and the footed does not feel as supportive as it used too. Had an awful foot injury many years ago that that took several surgeries to somewhat correct and Gaviotas were one of the only walking type shoes I could wear, believe me i tried several, that helped my feeg not hurt so bad at the emd of the day. Until you changed them. Please please change them back! These new changes not only make my feet hurt so bad but my knees too. Had to exchange the 8D for 7.5D and that took way longer than should have even by your own policy and would've taken even longer had I not called several times because I never received any communication regarding the exchange. Took a month after you guys got my shoes back to get the smaller size.

These shies were recommended by several people to help relieve issues with my feet. The first day wearing them, my issues were so much worse I could hardly walk.
