These are decent shoes, but the laces are terrible. This is my fourth pair of HOKA trail shoes, and I've loved all the others but these HOKA Anacapa shoes will not stay tied. And on top of that, one lace is completely worn after four weeks. See photo.
I think of HOKA as top brand and this shouldn't happen.

THESE SHOES FALL APART. DO NOT BUY. IF SERIOUS ABOUT FITNESS, STAY AWAY. COMPANY IS GREEDY AND DOES NOT HONOR WARRANTY. WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. OVERPRICED. BAD QUALITY.

I bought these because of the very positive online reviews from several outdoor gear testing sites. Overall, I am disappointed. The good: they look good, are durable, and have a very solid outsole. The bad: They are the right size but are still very uncomfortable. The cushioning is oddly distributed and they hurt to wear for any length of time. Using a third-party cushioned insole helps, but only a little. I weak lots of other Hoka styles and have never had this problem. Even worse, they are really not very waterproof. The people in the online reviews who wore these while walking in a stream had a very different experience than I did. In moderate rain or splashing in puddles they start to wet through within 15 minutes. My feet don't get completely soaked, but they get damp. And the shoes take forever to dry. This has been true since soon after I bought them, so I don't think it's just the DWR wearing down. Maybe mine are defective. I don't know. But I had better luck with a pair of much less durable $40 boots from another company.

Definitely disappointed with the sneakers. The color on the website is different from the real item. The sneakers I got showed a darker olive color on the website and what I received was close to a shade between light blue and green. I wish you would allow people to add attachments here then I could show the difference. These are my first pairs of Hokas and I am definitely disappointed.

Of all the Hoka shoes I have had, this has the least cushion and support Hoka is known for. I made them work by removing the footpads, and replacing with Sholls cushion inserts.

Purchased these for my husband as we walk daily on our ranch. Purchased as a trail shoe to be worn an hour per day. Bought in March and it is now end of June and they are already coming apart in the mesh area. I was told that Hoka was one of the better brands. I'm not impressed with the longevity of use out of these shoes.

I have had good fits with my 4 previous Hokas but these did not fit in the heel or body even as the regular width

I like the look and feel but the sneakers make a squeaking sound. Tried drying them even though, they didn't seem wet and using talc to reduce friction. Worked for the first five minutes then squeaking returned. Starting to not where them. Will try to return. Third pair of Hokas
I've owned but probably the last.

Great for hiking and wearing on wet days. I experience a flaw on the right corner tip of right foot where rubber shield attaches. The corner lifted up after short usage. I returned them and got a new pair. The same thing happened. So, I returned them and switched models.

The size was off at least 1/2-- maybe more. The toebox was off 1 possibly 1 and 1/2 sizes. Awkward fit overall in other places. I have 3 pairs of the first edition of Anacapas--all fit perfectly. The Anacapas 2 , based on these two examples, are weird shoes. A huge step backward. Bring back the AnacapaOnes!

Usually wear an 11. These felt too wide and long. Have to return, ordering a different pair.

I purchased the same size for this shoe as I wear in my other Hokas (I have four pairs), and even with hiking socks the shoes are just too big. I'm disappointed.

This is an ordinary shoe at an excessive price. The materials, workmanship, comfort and grip are average.

I've been using 10.5 M Hokas for a long time, and this 10.5 were much larger than expected :(
I couldn't return them due to lack of time while traveling.

I have run in Hoka sohes, both road and trail, for years. I have hiked in their boots for years. As certain as Death and Taxes, a 12.5 is my fit in any of their shoes...until now. I ordered online without trying on due to availability, and history said Hoka laws get this right, but not any longer. These shoes felt like clown shoes--they are huge when it comes to sizing. My 12.5 felt like a14. I put on some thicker socks and went for a hike to feel the rest of the shoe, and was disappointed the entire time. These will have to go back to where I bought them, and I am not sure I want to try other sizes, as the fit was just "off" on width versus length overall. Very disappointed.

The Anacapa 2 replaced the Anacapa 1 about the time I needed my 3rd pair, so I ordered up the 2. The fresh colorways looked great and I looked forward to another year of enjoying this durable, all-weather shoe.
Oh my. It's not the same shoe. The length feels the same as the Anacapa 1, with 2mm more heel-toe drop. The upper is decidedly less bulky, which is a good thing. But the width - oh, the width. The width is easily 1/2 size wider the full length of the shoe. With the Anacapa 1 I could feel my heel almost being sucked into place and cradled securely at the ball of the foot but with enough room for my metatarsal arch to splay out on long hikes (as it should). In the Anacapa 2 it felt like my foot was swimming side to side and even using the ankle eyelets I could not keep my heel from lifting strongly. It felt more like the fit of a tall backpacking boot designed for heavy loads and very thick socks. This is NOT a backpacking boot. It's a fast-hiking shoe and should fit like one.
I'm going to try the 10.5 in hopes that it helps with the width issues. That changes the shoe's arch length, though, and I'm sensitive to proper arch length.
In short, Hoka has for me destroyed the almost perfect fit I've enjoyed in the Anacapa 1. That's a pity, because the Anacapa 1 was a killer all-purpose shoe, not just a hiking shoe. Please bring back the Anacapa 1 fit.

I have gone through four pairs of Hokas in twelve months and these were the worst. I work an outdoor job that requires a lot of walking and the Anacap 2 Lows didn't last more than a month. The inside of the right shoe ripped as well as the toe. I contacted the warranty department every other day for a month and every time the rep said "email warranty department"? Spending nearly $1000 on shoes in a year is not something I look forward to but I will gladly be spending it elsewhere.

I have worn Bondi 7, 8, and 9 and I have loved them. Best shoes I've ever had. Especially the 9 - it's a huge upgrade from the 8. Anyway, this Anacapa I bought for use at the gun range where it can get a little muddy, and for other various outdoor activities. But the fit is not good. They run huge. I use my thickest thorlos and they are still loose. Nothing like the snug comfortable fit of the Bondi. I even put in an insert to help with my super high arches. I suppose it's just the wrong shoe design for me.

Great shoes but they wear super fast. Mine lasted 8 months of wearing to work a few days a week and hiking a few times a month. I would not buy these if you want shoes that will last.

Visual appearance and description of the shoes seemed good enough for me to have confidence in them as my next "go to" hiking shoes. I had a pair of skylines prior to these that were a great pair for me so I expected a similar experience. Unfortunately, these shoes absolutely destroyed my feet in the first few miles. I had terrible blisters on the inside of both heels after testing these out on a short trail (this had never happened before from any other sneakers so I found this odd). Also experienced the shoes making odd noises each step. I am not sure if both of these negatives were unique to me and my feet or if they were design flaws. None the less, I simply could not make them work for me and had to return them. Hoping that the next wave of hiking shoes Hoka comes out with treats me better - till then I'll be going with another brand.

Bought these shoes to replace my Merrell Nova 3's which lasted me well over 2 years of heavy use without any waterproofing damage. I just got a chance to use my Hoka's and spent 2 hours cleaning up a very lightly damp yard - By the end my feet are soaked and soggy. I was highly anticipating this shoe and I've been let down. This shoe could barely stand a stroll through the grass - I certainly wouldn't be packing them for a hike. Did not perform as advertised, and unfortunately a very expensive shoe. I will be retiring them early and moving back to my merrells.

These shoes look great, but they're really not suitable for hiking. They feel fine when you're going uphill, but when you're descending, they become a real burden. Because the front of these shoes is so stiff, every step downhill makes you want to cry. They really hurt your toes. Right now, my toes are all swollen.

I purchased a pair of Anacapa 2 Low GTX about 7 months ago. I used them only to walk my dog when it was cold and wet out. I probably wore them 60 times total. The fabric in both the heel cups has torn and HOKA will not replace them. Poor product and worse customer service.
