I've bought three pair of the Anacapa 2 Low GTX's. The look, width and comfort have been good, but each pair came from the factory with an internal void that caused the shoe to make a popping sound. It would be one think if it happened after extended use, but the problem coming from the factory is disappointing considering the cost of the shoe.

Ok first off let me say ive had these since October 2024 trying to see if I wear them more they will break in(or actually if this horrible sound will stop). They are the typical Hoka goodness other than 1 what I will deem a flaw I cant overlook..(neither can anyone around me apparently) I will explain in a bit. First of all they have been comfortable, they are GTX/waterproof ive tested that several times, the grip is good when out light hiking. So with all the typicals youd like for a light hiker Comfort, Stability, Grip, Waterproof they are fine. I rate them a 5 for all that. They have the typical Hoka look(think soles) so normal also. 1 flaw I found would stop me from recommending or buying them again. these are the only hokas ive ever had in GTX that make a clod hopping, popping sound when walking.. its almost like walking in galoshes/rubber boots or something every step is a sound that sounds like a popping sound.. Ive determined somehow this is the goretex bootie somehow making the noise,, and its noisy as in my wife can tell when i have these on and are walking. when I first got them people when I was in a store would look at me and my shoes. this noise I was hoping once they had a few miles into them would maybe go away and "break in" nope, just as loud and clod-hoppy sounding as the day I got them. Its now Jan 2025 and ive relegated these to walking(alone) ONLY as the only way to salvage them as being useful yet not embarrassing in public. so they are now my walking/ hiking alone shoes when im doing that. in every other respect they are great. the noise is loud and embarrassing enough I wont wear them anywhere but walking/hiking ALONE.. I dont know if they are all like this as its the first time for Anacapa2's for me. and my last also. I can say 99% of all my Hokas are GTX and Speed goat/Challenger DONT do this. run 1/2 size big

I LOVE Hoka shoes but was so disappointed to get this size 9 shoe and it fits like a 10. Inside the shoe it says it’s a 9D which is a normal narrow foot so there is something wrong with the sizing of this SKU. Be warned to buy a size down!!

I've been a big fan of Hoka shoes for a while now, and I was excited to try the Anacapa 2 Low GTX. Normally, I wear a size 11.5, but I found that the Anacapa 2 was a bit too big for my foot. The Anacapa 2 Low GTX just wasn't the right fit for me. The sizing felt off, with too much room in the toe box and the heel area. This made the shoe feel loose, affecting its overall performance and comfort on my foot. While I still love the brand and the technology they offer, this particular model didn't quite match up to my expectations.

Lots of room...really too much, especially in the toe box, my feet flopped around and tightening the laces made the shoes "creak" when I walked because of all the room. Would love to see this in a half-size smaller but I won't because the GoreTex still wasn't enough to keep the shoes from being HOT.....felt like a sauna.....

I'm a letter carrier. I need good reliable walking/hiking sneakers. I know people have been raving about Hokas so I took a chance. I've been wearing them for about a month. Despite the waterproof claim, my toes get wet just walking through wet grass, granted I walk through alot of wet grass. I walk 4 to 7 miles a day. Also the material at the ankle dip is already starting to fray. They are indeed very comfortable and light and a pleasure to walk in otherwise and were a perfect fit at first try. Probably would not buy again, need to find some actual waterproof shoes.

I've had three pair of Hoka running shoes and the size has always been consistent. I ordered the same size for the Anacapa hiking shoes and they are fully 1/2 size too big. Tried to return for a smaller size but they are out of stock. Hoka was great in issuing a refund, but disappointing because they look like a great shoe.

I love these shoes, however... I purchased mens 9.5 medium width "D" and they were a good width for my average width feet and felt great but just a bit too short in the toe. I wear a 10 in most shoes but ordered 9.5 because several reviews said they run a half size bigger. I sent them back and ordered mens 10 medium width but these did not fit well. Felt like it was a different shoe. They felt like an 11 And, the left was noticeably wider than the right but marked as "D" medium. Not sure what to think. Quality gap? Sending them back.

The shoe looks great but has really been difficult to wear as I normally wear a men's size 9.5W. As a result I ordered size 10. It definitely would have been to tight in the toe box for me with a size 9.5 R. I now have to wear two pairs of socks without the great fit from a 9.5 W. I would not recommend the shoe for those requiring W size shoes.

I have flat feet and there isn't enough support. My feet hurt after wearing. I like the Vibram sole and the toe cap but the shoe is too loose for my medium width foot.

They are not great for walking on hard ground, They need speed goat 4 cushion in the soul. I returned them for an exchange for the Bondi 8 hoping they are like the speed goat 4 gore tex style.

II am 60 and have always been a bit clumsy, so footwear is a big deal. I wear size 14's and am 6'3" and about 200 lbs. I have been wearing these new Anacapa 2 Low GTX's for the past couple weeks. They are replacing my prior Anacapa Low GTX's that were the perfect shoe for me. They fit my foot perfectly, and seemed the perfect blend of stability and comfort, with a very grippy tread that was reliable wet or dry. I wore them primarily for walking but also some hiking. So I am disappointed that everything has been tweaked in a way that changed most of that. The uppers are now thinner and with a wider toe box and less toe reinforcement and the outsole/platform is flatter and stiffer, although the sole is still Vibram rubber. The result is that for my foot, this shoe now does not convey stability and safety. My foot swims around in what seems a flimsy top half of the shoe while the sole does flex enough and hits the pavement/ground with and audible clip clop. Pretty disappointed. I still love Hoka. I have owned 10-15 different pairs over the last many years for all different purposes including patient care, walking, running, hiking and disc golf, too. I will continue to buy Hoka's going forward but my perfect shoe is now gone. I am debating trying the Breeze version...

Unfortunately I bought these out of season and was outside of the return window by the time I actually put some wear on these. Every time I wear these I get huge blisters on my toes because the toe box is so insanely narrow that my toes are. I wear thin insoles and can wear them in pretty much all shoes normally but these crunch the insoles up at the toe like no other shoes I have even other hokas. I do not have wide feet and wear normal width shoes normally but even just on glance you can tell the toe box is crazy narrow so unfortunately I am learning I probably shouldn't buy hokas online before I try them on because their sizing is all over the place and weird design issues come up like this.

Use the shoes for everyday wear like the water proofing but what I don't like and not sure if it's just my pair but they make a terrible popping sound when you walk

A representative told me that a D width is HOKA'S medium width. The rest of the shoe industry classifies shoes as a medium width and a D width is a wide width. I believe a D width is a wide width so I am confused when I buy HOKA'S.

The shoe is of high quality. I normally wear wide but the Hoka sizing said these would fit. They definitely do not fit well.

This is my third pair of Anacapa 2s. They have all had the same issue of the sole separating from the footbed, creating an air pocket that "pops" when you walk. It showed up about a month after purchase. Earlier pairs came with the separation from Day 1. I did not have this problem with the Anacapa 1s. It's sad because they fill a nice niche for people who want something that is versatile and not loud.

I was told by Hoka "experts" that a size 9 regular would be as wide as a 8 1/2 wide. I Following this I bought them, but found that the extra length caused a bad tit around my instep and the area near my big toe. I subsequently returned them and am awaiting Hoka to be offering wide shoes again

I wore the exact same sized anacapa gtx for work for over a year and when they began to wear out I purchased a new pair directly from Hoka. Same type, same size, just a different color. For some reason these are just slightly too small. I tried them for a couple months and was experiencing minor toe pain in my right foot at the end of the day. I had to give up on them and purchase something else for work. Too bad because I loved my first pair.

I needed a waterproof nonslip shoe for work. I bought Anacapa low GTX and they were the best ever shoe for my work needs. Recently I bought Anacapa Low GTX 2. Notice a bit of a style change, the top was now a mesh type material. Not what I was expecting but I could get over that. Just hoped they were truly waterproof like my old ones. 1st day I wore them they were fine. Did notice my heel slipping a bit on my right foot which my old ones never did. Day 2 of work my right shoe has a loud click when I walk. Not just a couple times it was with every step all day long. As for them being waterproof not so much. My socks were soaking wet by the time I got home. Never had that problem with my old anacapa's. There's an old saying, "If it's not broke don't fix it."

Unfortunately I have to agree with another reviewer here - these are definitely not meant for hiking especially downhill. There's way too much room in the toebox vertically (but also horizontally) and the toes get constantly stubbed against the inside of the shoe. Did 1 hike in them today and my toes are killing me. Hope I can still return them. Also wasnt a huge fan of the lacing here - they never felt secure on my foot.
