So when did LLBean start putting this weird turquoise liner in all of their bookbags? I ordered one for myself and one for my son different styles and they both came with this bright color turquoise interior lining....I could live with it on mine even though it doesn't match the mint green and grey exterior at all for but for a guy's backpack having a bright turquoise interior is not ideal. Are all the backpacks like this now as our old ones that we have had for years did not have this color on the inside.

My high schooler wanted to be able to keep this bag based on its looks and organization, but the straps are terrible. They need to be more of a J shape and instead are fairly straight. Without the chest clip they fit fairly wide. With it clipped, the straps are pulled in so that they are no longer flat against your body but instead the inner edge is digging in while the outer edge is pivoted away from you. Bizarre design. Tried it on three household members ranging from 5 foot 2 to 5 foot 8, male and female, all with fairly broad shoulders. It does not work for any of us.

Over the past two decades or so, I have bought several backpacks for my children as well as for myself. These backpacks handled with ease everything my children from kindergarten through college took them through. This year I bought a replacement one for one my sons and I compared it to another LL Bean backpack I had bought a couple of years ago. The new backpack's zippers look flimsy, the laptop storage is inadequately buffered and the backpack just feels and looks cheap. By the way, I noticed the same decline in quality elsewhere. About a decade ago, I bought a Norwegian wool sweater from LLBean. It was superb in quality and design. It literally lasted a decade and i still wear it at times. However, I bought the exact same sweater some time ago; it was thinner and lighter and the sleeves became too loose in no time. It simply is not as warm as its previous iteration.

The large front zipper is way too short making it difficult to impossible to reach the inside compartments. The material is thin. The inside color clashes with the outside material. I gave it a 2 because customer service was pleasant and took it back for a full refund. Many years ago, I bought the North Ridge backpack, closest to this backpack, and it was perfect until the zippers naturally wore out.

We liked the bag but the strap broke. Any suggestions on a replacement bag in the same color

Very disappointed. Was looking to replace my LL Bean Quad backpack and this was the closest thing. Computer sleeve was poorly modeled and the padding weak. Not as many accessory compartments. Built more for middle-schoolers than adults. Why the Quad was discontinued will remain a mystery to me.

I had a LL BEAN backpack that I'd carried for nearly ten years start to break down with normal wear and tear. It was the best backpack I'd ever had. I scoured the site and this one is the only one I could find that was remotely similar. The front pocket area doesn't zip open far enough, making it impossible to find anything in the smaller pockets in anything other than blinding daylight. The smaller pockets are way too deep and are basically just huge pouches - terrible any sort of organization. The bag itself doesn't seem to good very much. The last backpack I had from this company has so many unique storage pockets on the outside, plus awesome internal organizational clips and pockets - and it was a school backpack. Nothing the offered now is even remotely similar.

The hook at the top of the backpack already broke. I expect better from LL Bean.

Small strap broke and two main straps are tearing after 2 weeks of school! My son is 11, his backpack is not that heavy. This is poor quality and I am very disappointed. I remember when a backpack from this company used to last for years. This is inexcusable craftsmanship. My other son has been using the same (other brand) backpack for 4 years. I want my money back. You are welcome to have the backpack back. Aside from that the interior pockets are poorly designed and the water bottle holder needs to be wider.

I purchased this for my teen granddaughter. The first time she used it , the handle broke on one side. I'll be returning it this weekend. I've purchased so many items for my grandchildren and this is the first time I received a defective product from ll bean. I hope I can receive my 40 bean bucks back that I used as part of the purchase price.

The handle on top broke on my third grader in the 2nd week of school?! There was NO weight in the backpack?! He was SO sad about it because he can no longer hang his new backpack in his locker. I was the one who encouraged him to find one from LL Bean because I thought it would last. The backpack we purchased from another popular brand when he was 2 is still going strong, and has been passed down to his little brother. I guess we will switch back to that brand. So disappointing.

We bought our boys LL Bean backpacks with the expectation that they would be able to withstand the wear and tear of school kids. Took this backpack back to the store, and they said there was nothing they could do as it looked like normal wear and tear.

I bought this same backpack years ago for my older sons and it lasted them through all four years of high school with very heavy daily use. I bought a new one for my younger son last summer before he started high school, and after barely one year of use, the straps are ripping off the body of the backpack. Whatever changes LLBean has made to the materials, manufacture, or design of this backpack have substantially reduced the quality and durability and it is no longer worth purchasing. Check the date on any positive reviews! Backpacks purchased in 2022 or before were great, but you won't be getting the same quality backpack if you order it today.

We bought this for my 10 year old for his new school this past November when we moved. At the end of January, I noticed that the strap as already fraying. He is in 4th grade so his backpack is not that heavy. He also didn't use it over Christmas break. This back pack was only used for 4-5 weeks before it started breaking. We have a duffel bag from 30 years ago that is still in great shape and is still regularly used. LL Bean used to be the standard in quality and now I find everything we order seems like its poor quality and falls apart quickly. ( Except the waterhog mats, those are amazing!) All in all, very disappointed in this back pack and its quality. I would not recommend purchasing it.

I should have looked at the reviews. Clearly there's a quality issue going on here. I bought my son one of these 3 years ago or so (which is still in great shape!) but he wanted a more grown up color. So for Christmas I got him another one of these bags. Within about 15 days of use, the strap separated from the seam and wasn't usable. I sent it back and ordered another one. Just received the new one today and it looks like a toddler reinforced the seam in the same spot the other bag broke at with black thread that doesn't even match! This is a new bag they sent me (because my return also just arrived today back at LLBean so it wasn'ta repair). Clearly, there's issues. Very disappointing they sent this out.

I purchased 2 of these backpacks for my boys in High School in August 2022. I purposefully purchased these higher end packs for them to carry their school-issued laptops. Over the past 20 years I have purchased probably a dozen backpacks from llbean for my 3 kids and they always outgrew the packs. No issues. Not so this time. The straps are fraying from the shoulder, the fabric is tearing & the para cord has frayed. I've never returned anything to llbean, but if I could, these would be the 2 items I would send back.

Honestly, I sent it back. The material was thin, the zippers were lightweight and the size was small. It was not even close to My old reliable LL Bean backpack that I bought over 10 years ago. Very disappointed.

Purchased 10/22. Back pack used lightly 5 trips. Sometime during the 5th trip, the slider clasp fell off - it shouldn't. Before purchasing i tested it's strength, couldn't loosen it. Still by the 5th trip it was gone. Contacted LLBean customer service, was advised they couldn't help. Suggested I go to a sewing notions store for "some sort of replacement." Without being able to secure the backpack, makes hurrying through busy airports a miserable experience..

I bought this for my grandson as he started middle school. The strap started to pull and fray after only one day of use. Very disappointed in the quality of this backpack. Our family has been consistently purchasing these backpacks for years because of the ruggedness and outstanding endurance. My kids are in their 30's and have used LL Bean packs since they were in elementary school. So when the grandkids needed packs it was a no brainer. So imagine the disappointment when my daughter called to tell me that the strap was pulling apart after only one day of use. These are not inexpensive packs! I would expect much more from then than lasting a day.
