I have toted this backpack on many trips. Holds up well. Comfortable. Zippers are fine.

My granddaughter (High School Junior) absolutely loves this backpack and the color was even better than she expected. A new "Bean" backpack is an annual ritual for us, and though her last year's backpack is always in very good shape and completely satisfactory... a new one is a treat. And this one is a special treat, packed and ready to go when her school determines it is safe to open.

I don't feel that the back pack is as roomie as advertised. The waterbottle pockets are great but the main compartment seems small and the other pockets also seem small. I love the color, straps, and overall appearance.

This is a good pack but is a little smaller than expected. Overall it works well and has a nice look.

Bought this bag for my son's school bag. Doesn't hold a lot of books/folders and his lunch box. The buckle broke off as well. Otherwise it functions as a backpack

I bought this to hold my computer. The shoulder straps are padded as well as the internal wall to protect the computer. As with all bags, it takes several uses to find the right placement for the straps.

We purchased this bag in August for our son who was entering middle school. The size has worked out great for him. He carries a binder, his math workbook, some extra supplies and a chromebook. The bag is full and heavy but it all fits. He often uses the stretchy straps to hold his lunch when needed. In October, the chest strap/clasp unraveled and fell off. We brought it back to LLBean and true to their word, it was replaced. This was great. A little frustrating that it broke so quickly but I am glad they helped us out.

This is an update to the review I posted last week. I stated the claw clip fell off, making it hard to secure the pack. I was told to go to a fabric store for a replacement. After my review, several customer service people reached out to assist me. The backpack is being returned for a refund. I'll order a replacement. My 30+ years as a LLBean customer continues, primarily due to their great customer service.

I'm an avid bike commuter, and I have a few nitpicks about this backpack. (1) Please make the laptop pocket maybe an inch wider...I can't get my laptop in there. It's 9 1/2" wide, and just needs a bit more space. It's not that big a laptop, but getting it to fit in the pocket behind your back is impossible for me. Maybe if you have a much smaller laptop. (2) make the backpack in brighter colors. Visibility is nice - I got one that's blue (bad) with orange trim (good!). (3) I like the deep side pockets - much better than the old mesh ones I had. I was always worried about stuff falling out before as they stretched out, but the side pockets are nice and solid. (4) the chest strap is much better than the waist strap. Never used the waist strap with my old one, but the chest strap is great!

Well-made and a decent size for every day use. I agree with other reviewers that the outside pouch is difficult to deal with because it only opens partway, so I don't put very much in there.

This pack is lightweight and very comfortable. It has great capacity both as a work bag and day hiker. I don't love the limited opening for the center compartment- the zipper spans just the top 1/3 of the pocket, and that makes it tough to find items at the bottom of the bag. Be prepared to blindly reach in and feel around for your stuff.

Could be slightly bigger, but is durable, colorful, and works for my middle schooler.

I just took this on a week long trip. It holds a lot. The side pouches are nice and deep and the front webbing held my hat and scarf on the airplane. I do wish the front section had a longer zipper so it opened more widely. Access to the inside pockets is a bit restricted. I don't know yet how durable it is.

Compared to the previous LL Bean Quad backback I had, this one is less comfortable and the straps hit my shoulders at an awkward angle. Also the pockets in the front section are difficult to access as the front section doesn't open very far. The pack is decent enough and is pretty light and holds a 15" laptop and my lunch and a few other things, but it is not as good as older LL Bean packs.

My 10th Grader LOVES this backpack. It holds all of her school stuff, plus a change of clothes for band and practice. There seems to be a slightly frayed area on one of the straps, but I am keeping an eye on it. Now that she has it, she doesn't want me returning it, even for a replacement.

just finished my first trip and the pack was a life saver. My only wish is for the middle pocket to have a bigger zipper. There so many pockets in this that access is difficult without emptying it out.

Great backpack for my middle schooler. It could use a smaller outside pocked instead of the jacket straps.

Roomy to go to school or for a trip. The strap on the outside can hold a rain jacket easily. The side pockets are great for water bottles.

Seemed like very good quality. It was tall enough, but not as wide as I expected and didn't think it would be large enough for my middle schooler. We exchanged for the larger 42L backpack.

12yo really likes the bag but would like the padding at back to be a little more supportive. There is never enough time to get to lockers between classes, so everything gets carried all school day. The bag holds it all.

I love this backpack. I use it every day instead of a purse to carry iPad, wallet, water bottle, purchases, sweater and everything else. Only gave it 4 stars because the shoulder straps aren't in exactly the right place, I'm 5'2" and it's designed for a slightly wider torso. It's roomy, it protects my iPad and keeps it and groceries from stabbing me in the back. Love that I can carry a sweater and water bottle on the outside. The bright blue color could be a little more subtle.

Overall this backpack is great. The quality is self-evident, it feels well-made and durable. It fits everything I need, plenty of organized pockets on the inside. The straps however sit funny on my shoulders, so it doesn't feel as secure as I would like. Additionally, my admittedly large water bottle does not fit in the water bottle pockets on the sides (sigh).

While this is a nice pack, it does not have the pockets that the Quad 4 had. The front pockets are deep, maybe too deep, and this makes losing items easy. The front pocket zipper also does not unzip very far making getting into the the pocket difficult. However, the straps are comfortable so far and the sternum strap is long and also comfortable.

Got this for my 10 year old who needs a good size bag that can also hold a laptop due to the hybrid learning schedule this year. It was more $ than I wanted to spend, but I think it will be worth it. It fits all is many required school supplies. The color is beautiful, light blue and turquoise, and he doesn't think it too feminine. I wish though, that LL. Bean's color options were less gender specific for their bags--its often either very dark for boys and bright purple for girls.
