These socks are well made, but are a bit over-priced, and due to the sizing options, are not a good buy for someone with size 12 feet. The sizes are S, M, L, XL. L is intended for sizes 9-12, and XL for sizes 13-15, so I ordered size L. They stretched out to their maximum size and just barely fit on my foot, but stretching them also made them quite thin, so they likely won't insulate as well as they should. I suspect stepping up to size XL would have been too large and baggy. After cutting them apart and trying them on my bare feet, I didn't feel right about returning/exchanging them, so I kept them, but I wish I hadn't spent $20 on boot socks that don't fit well. If your feet happen to be in the middle of one of the size ranges, you might like these.

This sock is not what I was expecting. I ordered medium, according to size chart since I wear a women's 8-8.5 shoe. The socks are so huge I think a small would still be too large. They are also a little too snug at top. Going back.

These socks are not exceptionally warm, and most importantly, they can NOT be washed/dried in accordance with the catalog/website product information/instructions. Following the LLB washing instructions, mine shrunk at least three sizes!
As usual, however, LLB's service person was extraordinary and immediately sent a new pair - I'll hand wash the replacement pair and hang them on a clothesline - if I can find one!.

These socks are a lighter version of previous offerings with this description. Additionally they seem to have more synthetic fiber presumably to promote a more easily stretched sock. Although comfortable enough on initial wearing, after time the wool compresses and the synthetic fibers begin to make an impression in the skin. I would be reluctant to wear on a long hike. Unfortunate, as the socks purchased prior to these are quite nice.

I ordered two pairs of these socks to prepare for winter. When they arrived, I wore one pair out of the box for about four hours. When I took them off, I noticed that the stitching at the toe of one sock had unraveled by a quarter of an inch. For the price, I don't think that should have happened. I re-stitched them and will continue to wear them, but somewhat disappointed by the quality.

Bean Boot Socks are warm and material is good, BUT big lumpy gathers at toes where seams are stitched together make sock uncomfortable to wear. Washing helped some, but not enough. Would not recommend these socks, especially for long walks or hikes.

Although comfortable & warm, they began to pile/fray after first washing. For the price was not expecting that. I am a long time Beaner and expected more.

These socks are restraining on your ankles making for the urge to pull them down and ich your ankle from the indents of the lines the sock makes in your skin. I am an average sized man the ordered a 13 size and they do this. THey are also bulky and hard to fit into shoes or any casual wear. They seem to be warm.

Not the usual LL Bean quality product and not worth the price. I bought these socks in the fall for extended wear in winter cold weather. They were thick and bulky but not really effective in keeping my feet warm for extended cold weather use. The socks began to pill and pucker after one wash. The stitching came apart when I opened the package. I didn't keep the receipts or I would have returned them.

I have 2 pairs of these warm and comfortable socks.
Unfortunately the tops of both of the socks have torn and separated from rest of the socks.

I bought 3 pair of these 3 months ago, and they already have holes in the heels. I have similar pairs from llbean that are several years old and are still lasting fine.
Wearing each about once a week.

I have been waring an older pair of these socks. The new pair is very disappointing. It is of a lower quality, very evident. Not as soft, slightly less stretchable, and not nearly as comfortable as the older pair. I believe most of us will pay a few dollars more to maintain original quality than cheapen the products evidently LL B can has chosen to do. Seems to be industry-wide, can't buy products as well made.

I have bought at least 6 pair of these socks over the years. In January of this year I bought 2 more size XXL. The socks that arrived were designated XXL on the packaging but were so small that the heel section was under my foot! Totally unwearable. I gave them to my wife who wears a women's size seven shoe. They fit her perfectly!
I will reorder soon because I love these socks, when they fit! I'm hoping that it was just a packaging mistake.

Purchased these socks because I like 10-inch socks over crew-length socks. However, these socks are so thick, I can't wear them with my shoes. However, if you are looking for socks to wear with shoes or boots that are a half-size (or size) too big then these would probably be the socks for you.

Bought it for my husband part of his Christmas gifts. The sock were freyed when openedbvery poor quality. I have been shopping with LLB for close to 30 years. The last few years quality is not the same as it use to be. Didn't bother to return it. What's the point.
Still sitting in the drawer. Very disappointed.

I've had a pair of these same type of LL Bean socks for at least six
years. I wear them without shoes or slippers at home in the cold
months and they're cozy, washable and , of course, super comfortable.
But finally, the heels were beginning to wear out (after six years, they
had a right to). So I bought a new pair from LL Bean last month, and
almost immediately began wearing them as frequently and under the
circumstances of the socks they had replaced). Inexplicable, both started split at side seams of both feet. Completely unacceptable. Am returning them and
will replace with LL Bean slippers).First quality problem I've ever had with
an LL Bean product in over 30 years of buying them.

I am a mail carrier and had a pair of these. They were great they lasted all of last winter. I bought a new pair, and within three weeks they developed holes in the heal and toes. I think the workmanship of this product has diminished over the last few years. LLbean brand always has been a solid product to purchase. I will not purchase these socks again
