These were a gift. But my friend said they are soft and very thick.

A very nice pair of socks. Well cushioned, comfortable and matches any sort of casual wear. I would like to see a little more length up the ankle however.

These socks are thick and warm. Be sure to have enough toe room for these.

Great sock for keeping feet warm in colder weather. The sock is bulky so if you don't have much toe room available in your boot, this sock will make your boot a tight fit. I wear an 8.0-8.5 size shoe and while the sock fits me very well, I'm not sure there is much more stretch to allow for toe room and traditional heel placement for someone wearing a larger size shoe.

According to the size chart, the L we ordered should have fit my husband just fine, but they were far too small. The back of the heel came a good inch shy of where it should have been. We returned them for a pair of XL, which fit great. Perhaps the other sizes don't have the same issue, but the L definitely don't cover the range advertised. These socks are warm and well-made. Had the sizing been more accurate, I would have given them 5 stars. He's been wearing them hunting with great results. With the adjustment for the size, we'd buy them again and recommend them to others.

actually these are excellent socks, but the heavyweight is too thick for all my boots. I would have exchanged for light or medium, except for shipping expense, so they'll be my new cozy around the house slippers.

I really like these socks because they are warm and comfy. I have five pairs and there is a reason for that. I have to throw out at least one pair away annually because I find that the sole wears through too quickly at both the ball and heal of the foot. I am an older person and don't put them through a lot of tough work....mostly just to keep my old feet warm and toasty indoors during the winter. They aren't used in a boot setting very often.....only when I am dealing with snow outdoors. I would rate them a five if they were not so expensive for an item that wears out so quickly.

LOVE these socks. They are thick, warm and cozy. So why not five instead of four stars? I purchased them to wear in winter boots however they are simply too thick so unless you have lots of extra room in your boots these won't work. However I'm not at all disappointed in them as they are now the only socks I enjoy wearing around the house especially on those cold New England days and nights.

Socks tend to pill more than I'd like, but otherwise great!

these are very soft and warm.... the only issue is that the sizing is off, which presents a problem.. i ordered and got the XL because i figured that they would be bigger and fit at least a bit looser so that the elastic at the top would not fit too tight... however, although the elastic is not extremely tight, unfortunately, it is still is fairly snug for an XL size.

First: These socks are very warm and I wear them all winter here in NC where average temp is 15-22 degrees at night. Second, the price goes up each year but the quality is going down. By that I mean they get holes is the bottom of the sock way to fast. For the price it is a shame they do not last past 1 season. And this time when I ordered, LL BEan said they were in stock, but then I had to wait for a month to get them. Not good. Sorry LL Bean your quality is slipping. Bill in NC

I bought a pair for a gift and the recipient loves them except they are a bit short for his work boots. Otherwise would give a full 5 star rating.

These socks are very thick. If your shoe or boot has room in it then these are good. However, I found that the elastic, if there is some, doesn't hold the sock up on my calf very well.

FANTASTIC sock,: thick, comfortable, warm, just the perfect winter sock.... BUT..... the heel wears out long before the rest of the sock shows any wear. sure wish LLBean would reinforce the heel somehow. $22 is a lot of money for a pair of socks that only lasts a year and a half.

Bought these to wear with my new Bean Mocs which are rather loose. It fills the space nicely and are warm for outdoors.

I needed some warm socks and I thought these would work fine and while they are warm they are too big and don't fit in my shoes so I use them as slippers.

I ordered two pair, one for myself and a pair for my wife. My pair was perfect, nice material, love the color, fit, ECT . The wife's pair had a small hole in the seam, she said that she could mend it. No problem now, I would buy again even with this small "blemish".

I wear a woman's 6, and the small was to big, and loose.

I walk to class in the rain and cold in my bean boots and these are perfect to keep my feet warm and dry!

This sock has been my every day all season boot sock for more than five years. However, the last two pairs of socks I have purchased have been notably thinner than the same make and model of the past. They now feel and look more like a medium weight sock than a heavy weight one. Rotating eight to ten pairs of socks in the past daily has given me over four years of wear before the heals needing mending. The toes did not wear out with five years of wear. Given the apparent change to a liglhter weight, that length of wear is in question. The socks are very comfortable, stay up on the ancle and never bunch.

Comfortable socks at a fair price. Used them for some light hiking. Keep your feet dry and comfy. Will prolly buy another pair when I get the chance.

These are good quality cold weather socks, however, if you wear a size 7 I recommend going with the small size. Medium is way too bulky for size 7

I was a little concerned about ordering these socks when I read reviews about negative experiences with these socks compared with earlier socks that people had bought from L L Bean. Also, some of the sock reviews show up as repeats on other styles of socks, so I was concerned that they were not specific to these actual socks, but in the end, I decided to try a pair for myself. I was pleasantly surprised. I wanted thick socks to go with my L L Bean moccasins, and these definitely fit that need. I am a Texas girl who was headed for Utah and needed something to keep my feet warm and dry there, but also be functional for the few really cold days that we have in Texas. In Utah, we experienced temperatures in the teens and my feet were really snug as a bug in a rug. I have worn them in Texas with temperatures in the 30s, great outside, but a bit warm when I went indoors. Finally, I wear a size 7 wide shoe, size 6 D L L Bean moccasin (but probably could wear a 5 with thinner socks), and found these socks to be a good fit for me, but someone with a larger foot, might find them too small. They washed well and did not shrink, but I washed them in cold water with a low heat dryer.
