I bought one for my daughter last year at the beginning of the school year and when I tried to buy one for myself a month or so later I have not been able to get one in black have these been discontinued or what is the holdup on getting more in on other colors other than maroon light blue and teal

As much as I like this backpack, I would be hesitant to buy it again. The water bottle holders aren't tall enough so the water bottle constantly falls out. The holder also rips over time. I hope a newer version will come out to correct these issues.

The materiel is thinner than in years past, does this mean it will wear out sooner-don't know

I love the backpack, it holds so much. My only gripe is that the handle on top is unraveling in less than a couple months.

This is the third one of these backpacks I have purchased, all 3 of my grandkids like them.

Great backpack, love the padded pocket for school computers. My oldest child has had this model in another color for 4 years and counting. My only issue is that our family finds the front outside pockets superfluous and it goes unused and adds unnecessary weight.

I bought two of these bags, one for each of our teenagers, (and two smaller versions for our younger kids). The bag itself is great. Sturdy, straps are holding up, and I can tell it will last a long time BUT. take note L.L. Bean your water bottle holders in ALL of your backpacks are way too short! Do you know what kids are carrying these days? No one is carrying a little 8oz water bottle. The water bottle holders are basically unusable because as my kids hop out of the car, almost every time the water bottle falls out of the holder. I watch as my kids are walking into school or walking to the bus, and the water bottle is about to fall out of the side holder. You need at least another 2 inches of height on those holders! Most kids are carrying a 30 ounce water bottle, and those heights do not work with your bottle holders. That is the only reason I am giving 4 stars and not 5.

This is a great backpack but the bottle holders are not durable

Purchased this for my son who started middle school. He has to carry his school issued laptop, notebooks/supplies, and his lunch as the school has no lockers. The extra pockets in this backpack helps us organize all the supplies so he can easily find everything. The only thing I wished for this backpack is that it had the chest strap. This does have a waist strap but with the weight of his backpack with everything in it (20lbs), the chest strap would be better at preventing the straps from slipping. The zippers and the material seem strong and well made and should last him through middle school.

Always great quality. Bought this for my daughter. My only complaint is that they don't seem to be quite as big as when I was a teenager.

We like the brand order this particular bag and the material has already start to unrivaled

I'm a lifetime user of LL bean, and recently finally replaced my backpack of the same model from 2001 (over 23 years ago!) these were the best backpacks ever. However, the 2024 model has lost the sturdy rubber grip handle on the top, the canvas is thinner (unwaxed?), and overall has a weaker feeling to the straps. The only real upgrade is the addition of nice document slots and a sueded interior pocket for something like sunglasses or scratchables. LL bean used to be the best, but they're getting cheaper quality for the same cost.

Only problem so far is that the water bottle holders don't seem to hold the water bottle very well. Maybe needs to be tighter and higher.

This backpack is amazing, it's lasted my son from 7th grade - 10th grade and is still going strong!! There is not one rip in the entire bag, not even the mesh. He carries multiple books, folders and a Chromebook in it as well as a substantial lunch. Wow, these hold up. I've washed it in the washer at least twice a year and it comes out brand new. But there is one major and frustrating problem that annoys us every day, to have such a wonderful backpack they have to fix this, the drink holders are way too short!! Any standard sized water bottle falls out. Every single day. All his stainless steal bottles have dings in them from falling out, he brings his bottles home empty in a front pouch because they just won't stay in. Standard 24-32 oz bottles. Everything skinny won't stay in at all. LL Bean - please fix this!!! Make the bottle holders more substantial- padded and solid rather than mesh but way taller. Maybe they can leave it as is but add an extra velco strap near the middle of the bottle? Because this doesn't work. Otherwise I'd give 100/100.

It seems to be sturdy enough, and it accommodates a 17" laptop. I could wish there were a little more space, to handle more textbooks along with the laptop.

Sizable, sturdy, comfortable straps. Could use more pockets/areas.

purchased for my youngest son because the zipper messed up in his other backpack and wanted another backpack from LL Bean because he really enjoyed his other one. Personalized with his initials.

Sturdy and functional with comfortable straps. Loved the many pockets within pockets, made for easy organization. The back most pocket is very roomy and has an inner pocket for a tablet or smaller laptop. Did have to lift it up into the overhead storage on the plane, as it would not fit under the seat. The 2 side net pockets were great for holding water bottles.

Great bag but water bottle pocket on outside too shallow. Water bottles keep falling out.

Good backpack good quality. Plenty of space for all things school

I bought this backpack for my daughter to use in college. She loves it!

Would have given 5 stars but side pockets are too short for water bottles.
