Lots of pockets and zippered pockets within the pockets, good for organization. Great padded space for laptop and mouse. Durable fabric. Wish the outside water bottle pockets were deeper for today's metal water bottles. My son lost his due to falling out on the first day.

Purchased for my grandson for school. Love it. Only con is the net pockets on the side for water bottles is too short to hold his stainless steel reusable water bottle, it keeps falling out.

Very sturdy and well made and it has plenty of room for all my Grandson's books and supplies. The color is very nice and is perfect for has age (13). I recommend this for others that need a sturdy book pack.

back pack is fine but the pockets to hold water bottles are too short....my kid's bottles keep falling out

This backpack is great because of its storage capacity. The depth is 13.25"! It can hold two 2" binders in each large compartment with editional room for text books. But... the front smaller packet does not extend to the bottom of the backpack - this pocket is used for pencil box, planner, glasses, etc. When you set the backpack on the ground by your desk or wall it easily tips over when large binders and books are removed. It falls flat on the front and is hard to keep propped up. If this design flaw was corrected, it would be the perfect backpack. I will be trying the Portable Locker Pack by L.L. Bean, but it only has a depth of 12.5", however the front packet extends to the bottom. Oh, if I could find the perfect backpack...

Pretty good bag. I like the size and the pockets. One downside is the mesh water bottle pockets on each side are way too short. My son's stainless steel water bottle already fell onto the bus floor and onto the concrete sidewalk during his first week of school! He doesn't have a very tall bottle it's just the regular size Thermos brand for lunch/ carrying around.

Nice and very roomy. Might not be quite as thick as the older versions from 2 years ago but still nice.

I would buy these bags for both daughters and would get two plus years out of them. Now last years bag only got my daughter through last school year. Straps are ripping at the seams. Still worth it to me because these are the largest back packs I can find which both my daughters need. But I hope the quality improves like they used to be.

This is an excellent backpack that can hold a lot! I had one for over 5 years and filled it with heavy books everyday. It never had any problems. My biggest complaint is that you can't keep a water bottle in the side pockets without it falling out and rolling away. The pockets are not deep enough and my Nalgene falls out almost everyday.

She's very happy with the backpack but for the price paid I would've hoped the monogram would've been bigger

This backpack is HUGE! It holds everything I need -- an extra hoodie or two, my lunch, my laptop, extra gloves, hat and a scarf in winter (I live in Minnesota) with plenty of room to spare. My only complaint is that the mesh side pockets are so shallow they cannot hold a water bottle. I've been using this pack for a couple of years now and it still looks almost new; it's well-constructed.

Great backpack only problem is my water bottle falls out of the mesh pockets. Any advice for this.

I enjoy how much space this backpack provides. The padding for your back is nice as well. The only issues I have with the backpack are the side pockets and the bottom. There is no protection at the bottom and I found out the first time I got it and sat it down on the ground. It sounded like everything made contact on the ground. The side pockets are too loose for my liking. I feel like if you have a wide water bottle it will be fine and you will love it. However, my water bottle is tall and slim, so it constantly slips out of the backpack and has left dents from it. Other than that, no complaints and think it is a good quality product for over 5 years.

The bag came but the letters were mixed up. Thank goodness my child was ok with the letters being in the wrong place. But other than that she loves her backpack.

We got this as a "replacement/return" when the strap of my daughter's previous LLBean backpack started separating from the bag after only a couple months of use. Her previous backpack was a size up from this model, however it was unavailable to reorder. Overall storage capacity is fine for a high school student. Not sure yet if the straps will be able to support the weight of her books over time. Biggest complaint is the water bottle pocket. No matter what size water bottle we use, they we not stay secured in the pocket. The pocket is not deep enough to hold a bottle in place and we have ruined a Hydroflask and even an LLBean water bottle since using this bag.

The Super Deluxe backpack is large enought to fit all of my youngest son's books/binders. The backpack is durable; however, I do miss the lifetime guarantee we had in the past for my oldest son's backpacks.

Ordered for my granddaughter & it was exactly what she wanted. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that I thought it was a bit pricey....for that price a monogram should have been complimentary. The color was much better than the sample shown also.

This is our second Super Deluxe. We replaced our first because it got damaged (a slice to the strap from an unknown source). I would rate five stars except that the return/replacement policy has changed... the lifetime warranty was definitely a reason we had purchased the first bag. Our son likes this bag for the style and for all the storage. There are plenty of large pockets, zippered areas and places for water bottles and other items. Great transitional bag for middle or high schoolers and could probably go off to college with him, too!

I have been ordering LLBean backpacks for my kids for years. The kids outgrow them, but they never wear them out! Over the years, we've only had one quality issue, which LLBean dealt with promptly. We lived n FL and always carry water bottles, so I was thrilled when they added side bottle pockets. However, especially on this particular bag, the bottle pocket is not deep enough. The water bottle falls out all the time.

Love the LLBean 100% Guarantee. This is a replacement because my daughter broke the straps of her backpack purchased last year. Replacement was a breeze. Thanks LLBean!

My 4th grade already has a lot of homework and has to carry his lap top around quite a bit so this was his first choice for a backpack. He loves it and it seems sturdy so far even though it is lightweight. We did have another smaller backpack from LLBean for 5 years but the zipper broke. As usual LL Bean was great about letting us return it for a credit, and we "upgraded" to this model since he is older now. Would definitely recommend this.

School started yesterday, and for once, my Senior was able to take just 1 backpack!!! I ordered 2, one for the Sr and one for my Freshman. For the first time since middle school, my Sr had room for all of his books, binders, etc. This is really saying something because he takes all AP courses as well as being in a pre-engineering academy. Normally he would have two packs and still be carrying books. There are so many pockets, pouches and LARGE sections for books. The whole seems very well made, sturdy zippers and materials. We were also very happy with the back support and the areas to allow air to circulate. I gave this a 4 star only because we have not determined if it really will hold up to all he puts a backpack through without tearing or popping zippers, and if damage occurs, how well customer support and the guarantee holds up, and will change the rating once we have really put it through it's paces. Both boys were very happy with the appearance and the sheer number of areas to carry everything they need and to be able to organize and separate things according to their schedules. We are really hoping this one will go to college with our Sr and take the Freshman through high school. So far it seems a great value for the money. We had both of them embroidered with their names. The names are clear and sharp with all stitches looking secure (no loose/trailing treads). Even with having them personalized, my order was filled very promptly and I was able to track delivery. It made it to us a couple days earlier than promised (always a good thing!) and even with the personalization made it here within 10 days.

I have normally been completely satisified with LLBeans backpacks, but my daughter's has started to rip at the straps with all the weight of her books, and it's only been since May 2024 since we bought it. I was hoping we'd have this bag all throughout highschool. The zippers are great! We've never had a problem with those! (Sidenote, now that I think of it, my 3rd graders bag has also had it's carry strap break as well.) Hoping we can get a replacement as I've bought many backpacks from LLBean and they have lasted many years.

1) Water bottle side is so short bottles fall out. This should be an easy thing to upgrade. 2) you should have a chest strap in addition to belly strap to hold tight to body. This is a big bag and carries a lot. 3) The hook cord on the top is attached in a flimsy manner and ripped out. Yes, I had it for a few years before that happened but still that could be upgraded. I see reviews it's happened to a number of other people also. I'm going to recommend this bag if you're OK with those three things. Fix those three things and you have a truly great bag.
