I average 30-60 miles per week and have completed 10+ trail 50K-100 mile races. I have 70 miles in my pair of Ultraventure 3s, mainly on dry packed and very rocky trails and including 20 mile long runs. Ordered in my usual Topo size and fit was spot on. Upper is breathable and not too stretchy, which I like for better stability/control. Cushioning is soft and comfortable but doesn't feel sluggish when I pick up the pace or go uphill. Pleasantly flexible for a high/max shoe, which helps turnover and uphill running. I will note that due to some exposed foam on the underside of the UV3s that are not covered by the outsole, likely a tradeoff for higher flexibility and better uphill running/walking, I can occasionally feel rocks when running hard downhill and landing on objects in those areas. Outsole is grippy; no issues so far on rocky trails. I'd be comfortable running these for 50 miles and longer. Overall I recommend the UV3 as the optimal choice for anyone wanting a wide high/max cushion shoe. I'd also love to see a lighter faster MTN Racer version of this.

I tried these shoes on on a whim, I had never heard of this brand before and thought why not just try them out. You ever try on a pair of shoes and it's immediate love? I've only had it happen a couple times and this was one of them! Once I took them out on the trails my love affair continued, I am a convert and honestly can't wait to buy another pair of this brand.

Put these shoes (and my feet) through the wringer at the coldwater rumble 100. Never changed shoes and I feel no shoe could have done better. Fit, cushion, and grip were all spot on. Best of all, there is no significant wear! On a rocky course I expected some damage but they still look great. I also took these on holiday trips as my only travel / run shoe and they do great on all surfaces. I like the disjointed sole vs. the typical one piece vibram. Happy to have found my favorite shoe after literally ripping through Altras off and on for years.

Best hiking shoe I've had after multiple versions of Altra LP, Topo Ultraventure Pro, and Topo Ultraventure 2. Will keep coming back as long as they don't screw it up.

I use these for walking and hiking. First shoe I've ever had with a true roomy toe box side-to-side and not just in height. Only complaint (a small one): the laces are crazy sticky so you have to use a lace tightener to get them to move. I just switched to another lace. My toes have never been this happy.

Fixed the problem I was having. The larger toe box kept my toes comfortable with no blisters or toe nail problems. Nicely cushioned for long runs with just enough drop to keep my achilles tendon happy. Worked better than expected on paved roads. True street to trail shoe. I Tried 6 different brands of shoes and price wasn't a big factor. Most were ok with 3 miles runs but more than that caused problems. I just needed something that would work for me. These shoes worked. I'm very happy with them. I will order another pair.

I've run in several pairs of Ultraventures from all versions and they have been consistently comfortable and fit my feet well. Great for anything from pavement to semi-technical trails. This version 3 has shallower lugs and look a little less durable than version 2. So may not hold up on very rough trails. But for dirt roads and moderate trails highly recommend! #sweepstakes

I use them for everyday wear and for fast paced walking. I like the wide toe box; especially when I can find the wide option. I'm limited to a Ultraventure and Atmos because of that. Would buy a pair of hiking books today if they came sized wide. I also focus on well cushioned options.

Topo have become my 'shoe-of-choice' I love how comfortable they are. I am not a runner or jogger, but, I am a walker, a hiker and they suit me well. Whenever a box with a new pair arrives, I feel like I have won a wonderful #sweepstakes. While it may not happen often, on those occasions that I am talking with friends or family about shoes... you can be certain that I bring up the name Topo, and recommend them to all.

These are the best trail shoes I've had. I've used various Altras, La Sportivas, and a few Topo Athletic models, and these are my favorite. Very comfortable thanks to the cushion and toe box, and the tread works well for me despite not looking all that robust. I also use the Topo Pursuit for trail running, but I prefer the Ultraventure for hiking and backpacking because the small drop helps reduce fatigue when im carrying weight on my back. I just finished a 4-night 55-mile backpacking trip in Yellowstone in the Ultraventures and my feet felt the best they've ever felt on a trip that long. Only reason I wouldn't use them is if the trip is going to be very cold and wet.

This is my third pair of Ultraventure 3. I went up half a size this time since wide width wasn't available, and because ever since I became a nurse my feet have grown (in proportion to the weight I've gained becoming a nurse). With socks these feel tighter than I would like on my bulky feet (bulky as in I walked barefoot most of the first 25 years of my life and could probably wrestle a bear with them). I will add elastic laces, which I've done in the past, and will try a different lacing patternhoping that helps buy some girth for my midfoot. I've come back to the Ultraventure 3 after trying the Atmos this summer. I ended up with plantar fasciitis and was just about unable to walk after a summer on night shift wearing Atmos. Not sure if it was the Atmos at night, or the Crocs on my days off, (or just being a nurse in general) but regardless I switched back to Ultraventure 3, days shift, and my acupressure slides on my days off. I've also swapped the insoles on these to the FKT insoles, hoping the little bit of stimulation they offer means I won't have to add my proprioception/acupressure/nubby insoles. Pray for me and my feet that they heal up soon #sweepstakes

New to trail running and hit the jackpot with Topo shoes. I have a slight pronation in right foot would like to see a bit more support in this shoe like the MTN Racer 3!!

These shoes are so awesome. I order the men's 9.5 because I want a D width, normally I'm a 10.5 womens. But the women's wides are limited. The fit is perfect for my wide feet and the custom orthotics I wear. Solid lacing through the mid foot, wide toe box, and good outsoles, make this a good choice for the moderate hikes I do.

This is my 3rd pair of the Ultraventure 3. Great trail shoe for me, super comfortable and stable. Plenty of protection but still feel the trail. Would like to see more 7.5 options and maybe a little less arch support. Great work Topo

I normally wear brooks ghost max and thought the caldera 7 (their most padded trail shoe) would be a great fit. They weren't. They hurt my feet during training runs, I needed something cushioned and not scrunched up. Last minute, I went to find a new pair (2 days prior to race). I tried on the Hoka speed goats and the Topo ultra venture 3's.. topo was the best feeling trail shoe by a mile. I ran in them for the first time on race day they felt comfortable and smooth from the start. 12 hours later.. I didn't have to think about my shoes more than one time after mile 40 (loop 8 in backyard) I changed socks. I didn't lace up as tight and the lock was a little slippery and I could feel my foot moving for the first time. User error, not the shoe. Topo won me over, when my brooks are out of mikes I'm making the switch.

I used to be runner but now I walk and hike. These shoes are great. I have custom orthotics and they work wonderfully in these shoes.. The wide toe box allows me to use my toes for stability. I never found another shoe that does this as well and I have just switched from Altras. Also, I love the way the tongue stays in place and the laces don't come loose. Total winner. I buy men's shoes because I need a large size in a D width and it is hard to find in womens.

Used these for a trail marathon on the west coast. The trail wasn't aggressive. These shoes held up great. I felt good after the race and my feet felt good as well.
