Good quality but came with liner which my 16years old son doesn't like. Have to return it. If the length could be 8" short instead of 6", come with zipper pockets ( to secure personal items, phone/wallet), it will be an excellent short for the Summer!

I bought these as swimming trunks and upon inspection when they arrived, that is what they appear to be. What LL Bean does not tell you is that they are not color-fast when swimming in a chlorinated pool. They fade in color quickly if you swim frequently in a standard swimming pool. My dark blue swimwear IN TWO WEEKS is now a very pale blue on its way to being white! I think the color would last much longer if swimming in a lake, the ocean, or a salt water pool. Also, If you are near size 36, just under as I am, get the medium size, regardless what their calculations spit out. I got large upon their recommendations and I have to cinch the drawstring all the way down and even past the normal travel.

The waistband is too loose. It should be more elastic so you rely less on the drawstring to keep swimsuit secure around your waist.

I loved the shorts, perfect for being active and lounging around in the summer. The fit was great too. However, they stain very easily. I had a small stain and treated it as I would for any stain but that only made it worse. This also isn't covered by their damage return policy. It's a shame, I wish my pair was still wearable.

The shorts were just what I wanted, but they're way too long. It may have a 6" inseam, but the crotch is dropped so low that it came down to the top of my kneecaps, and I'm over six feet tall. Had to return them.

Some kind of joke calling these "sport shorts". It is simply a bathing suit. Even has the mesh liner. I was expecting shorts made of a material that you could swim in not a bathing suit.

Leg openings are very large. If you are on the slimmer side, the shorts will look like a skirt on you. The waist is true to size, but the leg openings are abnormally large.

Only had these for 6 months and fabric is pilling heavily in the seat of the trunk.

I am a size small in everything I wear. Ordered a size small and it is falling off my waist. The quality overall is very nice, the liner on the inside is comfortable. Just runs very big.

I sent item # 503782, men's large, back to LL Bean. They looked great in the website photo. In person, legs were too baggy. 14" opening at bottom of leg. Bought 2 pair, different colors. Sent them both back. I'm 5' 10" and 190lbs. It's a shame! They were nice looking.

Elastic waistband loose, shorts fall down in water. Material feels stiff. Not well made.

I've enjoyed past versions, however these are sized too large. If you like a larger unrestrictive shorts, you may like these.

I normally wear size large shorts. These are balloon size large. I won't wear them in public

6" inseam is not 6". I bought these as short shorts and they're actually quite long. I usually wear xl and got a large, they're too big.

elastic is not nearly as good as the previous pair I bought - if not for the drawstring, shorts would not stay put while playing sports

The fit and quality appeared fine, however, I returned this item because the material doesn't stretch. I was afraid that when working out they may tear or rip open.

Have purchased 3 or 4 pairs of shorts in the past, great product and fit. The current design is different, did notice in the description slightly tapered - do not care for this design. Material also seems cheaper....

I bought two pairs of these for using during both jogging and swimming. The shorts functioned great for both uses, but the color on both shorts is completely faded after a few months of use in salt water, lake water, and swimming pools. I presume that the fading is due to swimming pool use (chlorine), but honestly, I have swim shorts from big-box stores that still have their bright colors after 5 years of use. So something is off in the fabric of these shorts. It's unfortunate, because I like everything else about these shorts. But I would not spend this type of money again on these shorts knowing that they're not holding up to their intended use. Pretty disappointing for an LL Bean product. Photo shows what used to be Aqua Green on the left and Bright Gold on the right. Now they're pretty much the same color!

The waist out of the box is 40"+? The elastic is dead, like it was ten years old. The fabric is nice. The tie string is not strong enough to hold them up. Being returned.

I've now had two pairs of the supplex shorts and with both of them the elastic in the waistband failed. My pair of baggies (from another company) is still going strong even though they are older than the LL Bean. Don't get me wrong, the supplex is a fantastic fabric. Both pairs would still be great if the elastic hadn't failed. I asked LL Bean how much it would cost to get new elastic put into the waistband and they said they don't do that repair. This was surprising to me for a company who has a page on their website dedicated to proving how they are taking steps toward sustainability. Not repairing your brand's gear (even when the customer is wanting to pay money for the repair) can't be the way forward in outdoor gear manufacturing.

Not true to size. I ordered multiple pairs and all varied in size.

Although the shorts are well made for casual use I specifically bought them to use in the swimming pool and found because of the materiel they pillowed and filled with air pockets when in the water making them uncomfortable. The pockets were too shallow to hold keys or a wallet securely, and the size seem to run more on the large size. I usually wear a medium but was told the large was a better choice since I was on the cusp of the two sizes and had to return them. I don't like long inseams and prefer a four inch inseam since I have short legs but this was about the only choice offered that was close to what I needed.

UUUUUUGGGEEEEEEE. The description says slightly fitted and they are quite the opposite. Need to return

I gave this wonderful pair of shorts a 2-star rating, only because the liner is so loose it leaves a weird-looking bulge in the front of your shorts. Had to return them. If LL Bean fixes the liner, I'll be back to buy a bunch of them.

I have lots of these shorts. The size of the current shorts I bought because I like the new color Blue Water were different than the many shorts I bought previously. I bought a size L and they were larger than the many previous shorts I bought.
