I bought this to keep me warm when walking my dog. I wish I had read the reviews. The coat definitely fits strangely- puffing up across the chest and back. It is NOT warmer AT ALL. I walked this morning in 30 degrees and could feel the cold through the coat. I expect more from LL Bean especially considering the price point.

The zipper was troublesome and the fit for a short person was not what I hoped for in a coat.

I wanted to like this coat! Reviewers said it was tight-fitting so I bought a Large and it was way too big! So I bought a Medium and it was way too small. Alas, well made, but not the coat for me.

I like the length & the hood, but gave it only 3 starts because there are no inside pockets. Will test warmth when weather gets a bit cooler.

Looks & feels great but too lightweight for colder temperatures. Since I like it so much I'm going to keep it for days when it's not too cold.

There's not kidding about tight fitting! I'm thin now at 1117# and I can only wear a thin long-sleeved tee and thin sweater. A medium should fit looser than this! But at least warm!

Love the weight of the coat, but small In important areas, Where there should be a little more room , especially around waist area and when I want to put on an extra sweater . I was disappointed !

WELL, THE COAT WAS JUST TOO SMALL BELOW THE WAIST. i'M CONSIDERING SENDING IT BACK AS i DO NOT THINK IT SUITS ME. WAS THIS COAT SIZED CONSIDERABLE SMALLER THAT USUAL?

The lining was its real drawback - it felt . . .sleazy? And I realized when I tried it on that I want my winter coat to be a bit roomier to accommodate sweaters.

I order 2x in LLBean. When I received this coat in 2X, I found that while the body fit right, the arms were way to tight. I returned the coat and reordered it in 3X. Due to it being back ordered I did not receive it for many months (which I knew). Sadly the arms are still too tight and now the body is way too big.
I think the arms are a design flaw for this item. I'm very disappointed.

This coat is warm, but I prefer the unlined version. I order one size up to leave room for multiple layers if needed, plus I like room to move. I found this coat to run small. It just fits with no layers, even one size up.

This coat runs very small/narrow! I usually wear a Medium in L.L.Bean Outerwear but had to go to a Large in this coat. It is still very snug.

This jacket is great in the wind. Best warmth around 45 to 50 degrees. Not good for snowy days. It does run small compared to other jackets of its type. All in all it is a good jacket for chill days.

I wanted a light colored coat that would not be too bulky. Love the silver moon color, I'd be visible when walking at night. Although I usually wear medium the slightly fitted design was too snug for my pear shape. I would have returned to try large but I am one of those people who has trouble with double zippers; the one on this coat seemed especially clunky. So instead of an exchange I returned it. Will try again in the fall when I can go to the store to try coats and test zippers.
PS If I could recommend "maybe" instead of yes/no I would.

I was hoping to a petite size coat for my wife, however there were none be had, so ordered a regular size 10 coat. The coat was nice, it just did fit my wife.

I purchased this jacket with high hopes. I wanted to replace an old favorite, from another major retailer that starts with a P, that is getting worn out after years of almost daily winter use. This jacket was very much like my other, in the gorgeous silver color, flattering cut and the promise of lightweight warmth. I also loved that this LL Bean jacket has a hood - something lacking in my other jacket. I wore this coat running errands one morning in 36 degree weather. I didn't feel quite as warm as I would have liked, and I noticed the outer shell of the jacket was attracting my dog's fur - not an issue with the nylon ripstop fabric of my other jacket. But what convinced me this would not become an every day jacket for me was when I reached into my pocket with my ungloved hand and scraped my knuckles on the bulky plastic zipper they used for the pocket. I love the idea of zippered pockets, but a smaller zipper with smoother teeth is an absolute must when it comes to pockets. Sadly, I have decided to return this jacket. If they fix the zipper on the pockets and perhaps look at a nylon outer shell, I would definitely consider purchasing again. As for now, my search continues!

This coat is fitted and did not fit like a Regular M. I am sending it back and ordering a large, but I couldn't get the color I wanted in time, so I had to settle for another color. Very disappointed. :(

Had to return this coat - even though it was a size larger than my previous coat, it was way too tight. Like a lot of the women's styles, it's meant for only those with an hourglass figure. Fortunately at the store I found a coat that fit (same size but a style without the cinched waist)

This coat is well made and very attractive. It would be great for mild winter days and would protect you in a drizzle. I am only giving it 3 stars because I am pear shaped and it runs narrow in the hips. I ordered my usual Llbean XL size but sadly I had to return it. It would be a wonderful coat for someone with narrow hips.

I have been looking for a light black coat for everyday wear. This was not it. Definitely not the quality I was expecting for $200. The fit was awful. Tight and restrictive in the shoulders and not roomy at all. This coat is on the fitted side. I am a plus sized customer and if you have bigger shoulders. This coat is not for you. I did not like the styling...elastic cuffs, not lining in the pockets. Overall, disappointed.
Also the lining stuck and clung to my tshirt as I was taking it off and it was not cold at all. I know I would be annoyed by this over time. I did like the softness of the fleece though.
A miss in my book.

Arms are very tight! This is the only flaw, but it is a significant one. Unless you have very skinny arms, I would not recommend this coat.

The zipper is difficult to use. I thought of returning the coat. On the hood side the coat is very warm.

Nice coat but was not a fan of fleece inside, not easy to take off as the fleece causes your shirt fabric to want to stick to it

I liked this coat a lot, but the zipper broke after 13 months (only wore it during winter, of course, so more like 6 months of wear). Because it was more than a year since purchase, I was given the option to send it in for repair or return it for a POSSIBLE replacement. But then I'd be out of a winter coat for 4 to 6 weeks... I may take it in for a local repair, and pay for it myself, but it's frustrating that a zipper should die so soon.

This is a lovely warm coat and a lovely color (turquoise)!! However, in another review I saw that the inside lining can shed on clothing. I ignored that to my detriment. I wore the coat once with wool pants and when I got to my event, my grey pants had pieces of lining on them that I had to hand pick off. It didn't come off easily. Thankfully LL Bean graciously accepted my return. It may depend on the fabric you're wearing, but since I often wear wool, I didn't want to have to deal with this issue.
