This is the second sweater in this style I ordered. For the price, quality and wool used (merino) I think it is an exceptional value and very warm. Very pleased with the style as well.

Nice fit. We have beaten these sweaters up cutting and hauling firewood. It's kept me warm and dry. Washes up great and ready to go again. I bought the men's version first for some extra room, but the women's fits just great.

Great sweater! Fits perfectly. I bought the Soft Spruce Heather color in Extra Large. For reference - I am 5'7" and about 198 lbs with longer arms. I turn up the cuff on the ends of the sleeves of this sweater. It is wool and a bit scratchy on bare skin. I wear a long - sleeved shirt underneath.

Got the sweater in "Spruce Heather" and love it! Close enough to the traditional colors to fit in, but just distinctive enough to stand out. Would be great if LL Bean would keep the current color selection and add some of the men's earth tones to them and maybe something in a nice pink tone too. Would also be nice if the color selection could be carried over to the waterfowl sweater and sweater vest.

This sweater is fitted and pairs well with an undershirt or camisole as the first layer. It's very warm and with a flannel vest or gilet, it will keep you warm while outdoors on a day in the 40s. The shoulder and elbow patches set it apart. I have really enjoyed wearing it.

Finally found a plain 100% wool midweight sweater - warm, very comfortable, nice color (green). The body length and sleeves are a bit long even when cuffed, otherwise true to size. Cotton elbow cuffs are practical to avoid wear marks, shoulders details ok.

If you are looking for a really warm sweater, this is it! A terrific all wool sweaterVERY warm! I usually wear a petite medium in LLBean clothing, but this sweater was not available in petite. Altho I am pretty short and this sweater is a bit long, it is not overly long and I love if! And the medium is a good fit. The style is casual and the spruce Heather is a lovely color. I always wear a turtle neck under my all wool sweaters so it is not scratchy. I dry clean all my wool sweaters so I can't comment on washing it! I wish LLBean still carried more all wool sweaters for women.

This is a great basic black sweater with chunky ribs and nice original detail. It is form fitting but not so much so that you couldn't fit a layer underneath. I could see it going with practically any kind of jeans, pants or skirt depending on the look you are going for. I can't speak to whether it pills because I haven't worn it yet. I would definitely recommend.

I am 5'5" ~120lbs. I ordered a size small. This is a thicker wool sweater that is smaller in sizing than many of L.L. Bean products, probably because of the thickness. However, it is not fitted and has room for a light shirt underneath. I am glad I selected the size that I did. I like the detailing although I do not aspire to shoot a gun. Quality is excellent! Do be aware- this sweater is wool and feels like wool. Do not expect it to feel like a blend.

I received my Commando sweaters today in XS. For reference, I am 5'6", 124 lbs, 36"-28"-37" and the XS is flattering and cozy without being too short or tight. The sweaters arrived just as temps in the Pac NW dipped below 40. This is a substantial sweater with some heft to keep you warm, but it doesn't sacrifice style to do so. These are made to look like the British military forces sweaters with the arm and shoulder canvas patches. The vertical stitch, cuffed sleeves, and patches add a little fashion flair while still looking classic and keeping you warm. I love the colors - the Pacific heathered color is lovely and the black is sleek and a little reminiscent of James Bond 007. Love my new sweaters and think they will get a lot of rotation in my Winter/Spring wardrobe. Thank you, LL Bean, for providing a ladies version of this iconic men's classic.

The fit, the warmth, and the cut are perfect! It is a classy sweater. Perhaps next year it will be available in a hunter green and a rich autumn rust color.

You know how you have a few things in your wardrobe like a favorite pair of jeans or some super broken-in and comfy boots that you can see wearing long into the future? The commando sweater is one of those! Well-constructed and stylish and def. fits my style. Just ordered one for my kiddo since they have already asked to borrow mine and I've only had it a week!

This is an accurately-sized wool (yes, real wool) sweater with cotton protection on the sleeve forearms that protect the sweater from developing holes when one is leaning on a table or desk. The cotton-reinforced shoulders help the sweater maintain its shape. In other words, this sweater has excellent value and is intelligently designed; all too rare these days.

Awesome sweater and fit! The dye also didn't smell like the last one I had. Much better. Get the women's if you want a closer fit which is what I did.
