The sweater is as advertised: extremely warm , naturally allows ventilation , and the lighter panels on the shoulders and back of arms allows flexibility without reducing the warmth. It is also a great comfort sweater indoors when the temperature drops.

My husband loves this sweater - wore it to a very good restaurant with a tie, wore it to a funeral and wore it with jeans - He loves everything we get from LLBean. Everything lasts and lasts forever it seems.

I had to return an all wool shirt because although I always want to wear wool it always makes me itch. I heard of Merino wool that does not itch and I love it. It is warm, comfortable, and it looks great.

A great looking, warm, sweater! My husband loves this sweater and has worn it several times since he got it (a couple of weeks ago). He normally wears an XL and the L fits him great.

Received this sweater as a gift and found the medium too large (in chest and sleeve length) and exchanged it for a small which fits great! (note that i'm 5'8" and about 150lbs and generally LL Bean Medium shirts/sweaters fit fine.) The sweater is made of a thick, heavy wool and is perfect when you want something warmer than a thin sweater. Living in Cleveland, OH a warm sweater is welcome around home and in the office on cold winter days, and this fits the bill. Made to the usual great Bean high standards.

My wife bought me a Waterfowl Sweater last year, and it quickly became my sweater-of-choice in the cold West Virginia mountain winter. When she asked me what I wanted for Christmas this year, I didn't even hesitate: another L.L. Bean Waterfowl Sweater! They really are superbly warm and comfortable, and I recommend them without hesitation.

I bought this sweater for my husband for Christmas. We couldn't be happier. It fits well, the color is a soft, warm brown and the stitching in the sweater is very attractive - not boring. He loves wearing it; it's heavy enough to keep him warm but not too heavy so that he has to remove it in places where the temperature might be higher than in our home. Great purchase!

My husband absolutely loved this sweater so much that I ended up buying all 3 colors (brown, tan, and blue) ! He wears this same sweater every day so now he can alternate colors! High quality, So warm and perfectly fitting! If they had another color, I would buy that one too! Well worth the money!

I have bought a couple of these sweaters in different colours, loden and navy. They are very warm and the fit is perfect, slightly more large than normally it's the correspondant size. The design is beautiful and useful for every situation. I use it at work or in the week end. I'm not a hunter but a lover of the wildlife but I like the design of these sweaters. An excellent purchase.

As a hunter and avid outdoorsman I have learn that progress sometimes means the improvement of the use of natural materials. Wool has always been my favorite. Its warm, resists scent and its quiet. The introduction of merino wool has made the hard wearing clothing all the more attractive due to its ease of maintainence. No more dry cleaning. Just hand wash and flat dry means fresh clean no scent hunting clothes. I am no longer as young as I once was but I find that with garments like this sweater I am able to sit longer in the field when some of my younger partners are back in the cabin. I liked this sweater so much on a recent hunt I returned home and purchased the same sweater but with windstopper. Cant wait to try it.

Bought this as a mid-layer selection to wear under foul weather gear on an ocean race, but now I end up wearing it to the office and around the house all the time. I love this sweater and just bought another one in a different color. I ended up going one size smaller than what I'd usually order, so err toward a smaller size unless you like a really roomy sweater!

It looks (and feels) like it's going to be a cold winter, so I thought I better buy a quality sweater to have on hand. I love everything about this sweater: the style, the feel, and the weight. I'm 6 feet 2 inches tall and weigh 184 lbs. The large is a perfect fit for me.

I just purchased this sweater and I am thrilled with the purchase. I ordered a size smaller than I normally do (as suggested by others). I am 5'11" 165 lbs. and I usually order a large. I ordered medium and it fit perfectly. I wore it to my hunting cabin this past weekend (Nov.). It was warm and gave me the layering I wanted for the early hunting season. I always get concerned about sweaters stretching out of shape, but this one looks like it will hold up for years. I really liked the suede on the inside of the collar and the texture was not too course or itchy for me. Well worth the money. I hope to wear it for years. We'll see.

I live at an elevation of 7030 ft. in the Colorado Rockies, and I bought this sweater for camping, fishing, and walking/hiking. I've used this garment while walking in 20 temps, snowing and windy, with only a light wind-breaker over it and I stayed very warm. I'm 6 ft.- 1" tall, and 230 lbs. and the XL tall fits very well. I plan on buying another one in green.

These sweaters run large and long and not typical of LL Bean sizing.
Heavy and warm, I wear these fly fishing, casual events, around the house etc. I now have 3, returned one for a slight defect at the zipper and exchanged. A bit on the pricey side but if you catch a sale and/or have "points" to burn these are a good value. I can't say anything about longevity but they appear to be well made. I found the yarns used to be soft and not to be irritating to my skin. The lining on the collar helps with this I'm sure. Recommend you order one size down.

A very warm and well made sweater. The sizing is a little off. I normally would wear a meduim , but I had to exchange for a small. LL Bean handled the exchange w/o any problems

I bought this sweater for my husband for Christmas, and the timing was perfect, as he works outdoors sometimes, and the temps dropped to the teens right after he got this sweater. He wore it twice the same week and said he was warmer than all the times he's layered up. And it doesn't itch! I was worried with it being wool, he'd complain of it being bulky or itchy, and neither are the case. He actually asked me to buy "one in every color." I guess that alone is a good review!

Great sweater! I have two regular Waterfowl Sweaters and have just ordered a third. They hold their shape, don't itch, wash well, and are warm. Not much else you would want in a wool sweater besides to look nice, which they do too. I've also got one with the windproof liner and on cold windy days it's a great sweater, but unless it is really chilly it's almost too warm.
