The wool is wonderful -- soft enough to be really comfortable but not so soft as to have no shape. The sweater looks great, fits well and is warm and comfortable. It's rapidly becoming my "go-to" sweater in the face of another Wisconsin winter.

Truly one of the best sweater l own. Great for hunting not to heavy but warm. Have three sweater I think I like them.

This sweater is too warm to wear most days here in the Bay Area of CA, but when I took it on a winter visit to PA, it was perfect! It was as warm as I could have wanted, and nice looking to boot. Simple but effective.

This is a great sweater. I have worn it a dozen times hiking in the mountains, hanging around the house, or when going out with friends. I looks great and is a durable weight unlike many sweaters from other brands that are very thin. I originally ordered a medium, which is a size I fit for all other clothes, but the sleeves were a little long and there was plenty of room in the body. I returned it and ordered a small which fit perfect.

This style of sweater (partial zip neck) is my preferred sweater style, so I have several of them in the mold. This waterfowl sweater that I just purchased, however, is my new favorite. It's very high quality and looks terrific. It's built to last me 20 years+. I'm a fly fisherman, so I'll have plenty of outdoors excursions to take it on, but right now, I'm just wearing it over a polo with Jeans and I really like it.

Very warm and comfortable

I am a big tall guy and, in the past, I have always had trouble shopping for clothes from major retailers that fit me properly. I was always forced to purchase XXL-size items while shopping in retail stores, primarily in an effort to fit my long arms, but each time I did this I always ended up unhappy with my purchase since the body of the item was either too wide and/or too short for my torso. Very frustrating... Fast forward to TODAY: Now that I have finally discovered the XL-Tall size of LLBean men's clothing items (note: Tall-sizes are usually only available via the LLBean website), this is my new "go-to" size every time I go shopping for new clothes. While shopping in the "physical" LLBean stores, my experience has usually been that they only carry Regular-size items there....so, when I do find the items I like while shopping in their stores, I then ask the LLBean Sales Associates working there to help me with ordering the same item "online" (via the LLBean website) BUT in a men's XL Tall-size. This is all done quickly and efficiently while I am in the store at Sales Counter (bonus: I do not have to remember to order it online myself after I leave the store) AND they always arrange shipping to my home for FREE (note: they gladly do this for all customers, which is really great). OK....so I wait a couple of days for my order to arrive...but NO PROBLEM: I know that I will always get the item I want and in the size I need. It is finally a such wonderful shopping experience for me....a true Win-Win. This LLBean Waterfowl Sweater in Dark Loden is one of my favorite LLBean sweaters I have purchased. It fits me perfectly, it is warm, the wool is not too itchy at all, it is made well, the quality is excellent, it looks great, and I always get loads of compliments from others whenever I wear it! Sometimes I wear this sweater with just a t-shirt under it, and then other times I layer it with a t-shirt and a button-down shirt. I have often worn this sweater inside either in around the house or at work, and I have also worn it outside without a jacket, either while hiking or biking or raking leaves on cool fall days, or while working outside on those days when the weather is cold and misty -- this sweater has consistently kept me warm and dry and very comfortable. Like I said, this LLBean Waterfowl sweater is one of my favorites -- it is a true LLBean classic and, based on my experience, you should be very happy with your purchase!

I picked this sweater up a little more than a year ago and it has seen some major action. I took it across the country to California on a 6,000 mile road trip to get to college. It has been worn in Yellowstone, Yosemite, Grand Teton, and a bunch of small camping trips previous to the big road trip. Even in the 50's at night while camping this sweater and a light long sleeve shirt kept me warm. Even when it was sopping wet i was toasty (that's why you buy wool). Through all the hardship it has seen, it shows very minimal pilling and is still sturdy as a rock. I'm sure it will last many years to come

This sweater runs a bit large, so you should buy one size smaller than you normally wear with sweaters. The knit is very tight and the merino lambswool is extremely soft and not itchy at all. This is a super warm sweater and it looks great dressed up for work or dressed down with jeans at home. Very versatile sweater. I recommend it.

This sweater was purchased for my Husband Don and he love's it. It's nice enough to wear to a casual dinner or to bundle up doing outside work. It's nicely made, soft and fits well. I may consider purchasing him another one in a different color for Christmas.

A mid-weight wool sweater that is comfortable indoors but which I will probably wear under outer wear outdoors in winter. The fit is exactly spot on; not too snug but close fitting enough that it will fit comfortably under outer wear. Wool does not usually cause me to itch but I always wear a long sleeve light weight shirt under wool sweaters. The collar on this sweater has a cotton lining to protect the neck. The standup collar might be a concern for some buyers as it will not lay down in the back. You will either like it or not. One advantage is it covers the neck well and will keep cold air from going down your back. For me the collar makes this warmer than you would expect for this weight sweater. All in all, a good winter wool sweater, with style and color for wearing out at social events.

I'm a short fat guy. I got the large and it has plenty room.

Sweater is "old school" style; heavy and well made. Can't wait to see how warm and cozy it will keep me in an Indiana winter.

Very nice wool sweater. It's thick and warm, perfect for winter days.

Size large accentuates my belly, but an extra large might hang loose over my shoulders and arms. Since this is a sporting sweater, I'm happy with the fit

I own several LLB sweaters and I must say that this is one of my favorites. In fact, this is a replacement to my original one, which I simply wore out. Fit and finish are perfect and the styling and manufacturing quality are what I've come to expect from LLB.

Ordered the next one on in one size smaller. Great quality. Would buy more if they had other colors.

Sweater looks great. My husband normally wears an xl in shirts but after reading reviews we went with large and it fits perfect. It's looks amazing on him!
