Great article of clothing. Warm, comfortable, and a perfect fit. The color was more brown then the green i was expecting but that might actually be better than what I had in mind. I can strongly recommend it as a sweater to wear for any casual occasion.

This sweater is reinforced at the elbows and shoulders, the most vulnerable spots of a wool garment. I've been wearing one daily for more than three years and it shows little evidence of its service. It's nice and cozy too. I was hoping to buy another in a different color and am disappointed to see that it is out of stock. I hope it comes back.

Great look and warmth when layered. This is my fifth Commando sweater from LL Bean. Modeled after sweaters worn by the British SAS (Special Air Service) in WWII; the original special forces. This sweater lives up to the toughness and utility of the SAS.

Excellent sweater, fit is a little closer to the skin than a typical woolen Irish sweater, but I think this one would be more suited for activity. Performance is great and with the elbow and shoulder patches I think it will last a long time. I purchased the loden heather color and am actually thinking of getting a second one in the bright navy. Highly recommended!

The sweater was designed and made well . It can be worn to a casual or a more formal event .

Quality built sweater that keeps you warm and looks great.

VERY thick and heavy. You could wear this outdoors on a cold day without a coat. The sleeves are designed long so that you can cuff and adjust. The Large is perfectly sized for 5'-8", 160 lbs. I went for the Deep Woods Green Heather as a 2nd choice (they were out of the other green) and I love it. Thinking about buying another. I wish they made one as a V-neck without buttons.

I *love* this sweater. The color (loden) is beautiful, the weave is stiff (in a good way) and the patches on the elbows and shoulders reinforce it's shape nicely.

Quality material and construction. Sizing was true for a tall size and actually a little long in the sleeves.

Love this sweater all around: thick / high quality construction, great styling, and super warm. With another shirt underneath, I use it as outerwear down to upper 40lower 50F. Sleeves are a bit long on me but, due to the fold-back cuff style, I can pull the fold back another 0.5" and it looks fine. Lastly, care instructions say to hand wash cold; however, I've machine washed it cold in a garment bag and it's fine.

Really a top notch sweather. As ex military, I liked the style, although the original had a v neck to wear over a shirt and tie. This is more of a "field work" sweater. The weave is tight, and I was able to get the XLTall, while I might have looked for a 2xl, I know this style is supposed to fit with a trim and neat look. In the style, it also keeps you warmer, as its closer to the body and able to insulate more efficiently. So, its very well made. Just remember: don't ever put it in the dryer!!!! In case you're wondering why the sleeves/cuffs are so long, its so that if you were ever in the field, wet and cold, you could always pull the cuffs down over your hands to keep them warm. Your fingers would still be free, but covered. A good sweater. FYI, I live in New Hampshire and just went out in the blizzard, so its been tested.

It's sweater that makes me a little sad to take off, before bed. And we have a Bean comforter, so.....

I'm so thrilled with this wool sweater. It arrived in most excellent condition I've worn it already during a 2022 taste of polar vortex. I purchased it for myself to replaced a wool green turtleneck sweater I had purchased years ago for such weather. The cotton patches on shoulders & elbows will help this great black wool sweater last for years. Now, do I buy another one when the great green wool commando sweater is back in stock!? Natural fabrics are my go to from now on. Happy New Year 2022, LLBean!

Warm (important for frigid Michigan weather right now!) and comfortable - good fit, too. 5'8", 145 lbs., muscular, not too tight.
