I have two of these sweaters and have had them for a while. Initially they were great but over time they lost their shape. A common characteristic. I still wear them but don't feel as comfortable with the look as I once did.

This is a great sweater that's warm and well constructed. It has great looks. I previously wrote a review on this sweater shortly after I purchased it in 2011. My only issue at the time was the waist or lack of one. I liked the sweater so much I overlooked the issue and felt I would get used to the lack of a waist. Now two years later after moderate use and a few cleanings, the waist issue has not gone away. I recently purchased the vest style, liked it but returned it because the waist wasn't there. It is a big deal for me so I will not repurchase another. I'm always folding the waist up on my original Henley to form a band but it doesn't work. It is a real shame to have a nice looking warm sweater that does not fit properly around the waist. I have a 34" waist so I know my body type is not the issue.

Normally wear an XL Tall in most Bean products. Ordered this vest in XL Tall. It was too long in the sleeves and tail and tight. Not "slightly" tight, but TIGHT! I ordered it in a regular XXL. Fit in the body was perfect, but still too long in the sleeves and tail. Sent it back. Love the sweater though. Nice weight. Well made. Just wish it fit right.

unhappy that I was lead to believe this is merino wool, it is not because merino is soft and comfortable. So disappointed.

This model is okay, but I prefer the earlier model which does not have the cloth-type patches on the upper shoulders. I find these stiff and less comfortable. The sweater is fine and makes a very good 3-season sweater in temperate climates.

Looked great and fit well, unfortunately merino wool doesn't agree with me. Very scratchy. Had to return it.

My husband really loved the look of this sweater but the sleeves were too tight. He is NOT a large man, wears size Medium. I bought him another sweater which he also had to return because of the sleeves being too tight. These sweaters fit on the body, the problem was with the sleeves, especially between the elbow & wrist. LLBean Shirts still fit him great in size medium so I'm guessing the pattern sent to the shop that makes these needs adjusting.

I should have returned but didn't. Very big and bulky. Felt like a turtle neck. Made me look huge. Just not my style. I am sure quality is good. Will probably sit in my closet.

Love the Henley Commando Sweater. Have three others. Wanted a green one, so ordered the Deep Woods Heather Green. The tags proclaimed it as such, but there was nothing green about the sweater, it was brown. Don't know if it was mis-tagged or what, but didn't correspond to the photos.

I ordered this sweater and it was fine except for the color. From the online pictures, I expected it to be olive green. Instead, it was dark brown without a hint of any green. The color was so off I thought the wrong sweater had been sent.

Bought this deep green heather sweater for my husband for hunting. He loved it...although it was brown, not green...but a nice looking sweater. He had to wear something under it because it was very itchy. Fit him perfect. Til I washed it, as instructed but it still shrunk in the length and in the arms. He can't wear it anymore...only wore it a couple times for one hunting trip. Now I can't even get another one because it's sold out.I would consider dry cleaning the next one. I'm sad. It was a very expensive sweater to only get to wear a couple times.

I liked my new sweater (1 week old) until my wife pointed out that the right seam let out with inferior sticking (3-4 inches). I am very disappointed in the quality. How would you like to handle this?

I ordered this sweater in the small size, expecting that like most "small" garments, it would still be a little bigger than I'd like, but that I'd just have to live with it. Well, when it arrived and I tried it on, I found that the chest and midsection fit perfectly -- slim, trim and neat. The shoulders and sleeves, however, were disproportionately large and boxy -- almost as though they had put the shoulders and sleeves from a size "large" sweater onto a size "small" torso. Based on other reviews, this doesn't seem to be a problem with the larger sizes, but beware of the "small."

Although well constructed and well-styled, this item felt very bulky and heavy....a bit tight through the trunk and likely to be restrictive. I tend to favor a roomier fit though, and LLB mediums have been great for every other item I've ever purchased. The cuffed sleeves were already as long as I'd want them to be, so sizing up to L wasn't going to work. Therefore, I returned the item.

Not for me. Handwash inside out in cold water and lay flat to dry. Forget it. If I knew this up front I would not have purchased. I took the risk and machine washed cold and gentle inside out in a front load machine. I dried it on a gentle cycle. Now the sleeves are too tight. Abnormal care instructions should be included in the item description. My merino wool socks don't require special washing so I guess I didn't expect this sweater would either.

Bought this henley sweather in DEEP WOODS GREEN HEATHER. However the color is not right to me. There is substantial difference in color comparing this DEEP WOODS GREEN HEATHER with the same color of Commando Sweater (not henley) The product quality is good anyway.

Very subtle mix of the olive military look with the formidable vertical grooves, aggressive shoulder pads, and the catching placket. Well done. Jimmy J

I own both merino and regular wool sweaters and this sweater is regular wool. I was suspicious of the price as this is less than half what I would expect a merino wool sweater to cost, and I was right in my suspicion. Merino wool is hardly ever itchy. This sweater feels like you've laid down in an ant hill. I also ordered the large tall size and being 6'4" with a fairly long torso, the bottom of the sweater went down to my crotch. Just a heads up for other tall folks.

Ordered Green Heather and received item that looks more like Brown Heather.

Beautiful sweater but is brown not green. Ordered the fatigue green, this is very brown in real life. May be returning for a different color after the holidays.

While this color is called deep woods green heather, it is really brown. Quite ugly. Not at all what was expected.

This sweater is BROWN not green. It is a nice sweater.

Very first item I have ever purchased from L.L.Bean that completely disappointed us. I ordered three of the Commando Fatigue Henley Sweater, one for my husband and two for gifts. The very first one we took out of the plastic had a horrendous odor! After several days of airing out outside I laundered the sweater; still extremely smelly. I called customer service and followed their suggestion and washed again, still very smelly! I laundered in Woolite. I did not take the other two sweaters out of the plastic, returned all three sweaters.

My problem is I'm a Tall "MEDIUM" Why is it so hard to find this item in "TALL MEDIUM" ??? It seems like it's assumed that if your tall you have to be a large frame? I'm sick of buying large shirts, sweaters etc. just so the sleeves are long enough.. Occasionally I can find what I need but rarely..Sick of it!!! I would buy this item if they got the right size in
