My son loved the style and we both love the look but it's just too warm for northern CA "chilly". He's always hot so felt this was too heavy for him but he did also love the style. He's 6'3" 250 lbs and always wears an xxl regular (not tall) in LLB.

Purchased a couple of these, along with the crew neck ones, as a prep for future move to the northwest. I am 6' and 200lbs. I got the large and they seem to fit. But I should have gotten the xl. I prefer my sweaters to be a bit baggy, so if I do decide to wear something underneath, it wont be too tight. I did wash mine, cold water, gentle cycle. Then dried in delicate, low heat. The sweaters did fuzz a little bit, but had to see how they would work as I am not washing anything by hand. This washing though, it did shrink the sweater by about 2% not a lot, but made it more form fitting, like military pics usually show these sweaters. I was able to pull it a bit to loosen it up. next thing, it is currently 10 degrees out, and while my head was ice, chest was warm. All in all, good deal.

The Sweater is very warm and fits nicely. I do have to wear a thin t-shirt under do to the high wool content, itchy. It is well made.

I love this sweater so much, I bought one for my cousin, too. It's comfortable, very warm, and sturdy enough for the field. Sadly, it is made in China and not the U.S. I'd be willing to pay a premium for U.S. made, especially if it comes from L.L. Bean.

Bought this sweater, glad I bought one size larger as it seems to run smaller than I would normally wear. Comfortable, good for hunting or church. Would recommend as a good buy!

I am very pleased with the sweater - well made, comfortable and provides good warmth. As usual, ordering from LL BEAN was also very easy and the order was shipped out promptly - so no hassle there as well. My only issue - the sweater was not made here in the US. Please do more to source an increasing amount of your items from factories here in the US - maybe you could even consider some "vertical integration" - set up some subsidiary manufacturing operations here to make high quality products to sell through your store and on you web site - be more of a positive force to bring good jobs back here to the US.

I ordered this sweater just after the Holidays and it arrived ahead of schedule, but in time for the first of the COLD weather. I Love It! Wool Rocks! Fits well, is comfortable and keeps me Warm. Only problem is that this is supposed to be a green shade, but it is a brown shade. Not a big problem, just waiting to get a truely green sweater which I will then order. I had read the reviews so knew in advance it would be the brown shade. Thanks for a Great Warm sweater.

This is a great sweater, but a little tight==or I might have put on a little weight....

I got rid of a great wool sweater a few years ago because it had a crew neck, and would get uncomfortable because of the eventual strangulation factor. This henley commando sweater is great because you can unbutton it a quarter of the way down, or button it all the way up on those cold days (and no zipper to fail or scratch your face). The medium is a perfect size for me (39 R jacket, 31 inch waist, 5'9", 155 lbs), and will fit over a button down or long sleeve t-shirt, and will fit under my field jacket. My only complaint is that the sweater is a little scratchy, but I wanted warmth much more than total comfort. With the henley collar, the fit, and the quality, I am willing to forgive a little scratchiness.

Just received this sweater. I ordered it as a Christmas present. It looks great, well made, but the green heather is more brown than green. I took it outside in sunshine to see if my eyes were playing tricks on me. Yep it's brown! The canvas on the shoulders and elbows is brown as can be. If you think you are getting something on the order of army drab green you may be disappointed. Still plan to keep it to give at Christmas. I think the recipient will like it.

Overall Quality of Sweater is 5-Star; however, XXL normally provides me with a loose, comfortable fit, whereas this XXL fits uncomfortably & disappointingly "Snug" as would an XL, which significantly restricts my options regarding how / when I might otherwise enjoy wearing it! ... :>( Highly recommended with the Proviso: When given the option to do so . . . Order one size Larger than normal!

Very comfortable and apparently durable sweater. Wool is not scratchy at all. Color is brown--only in direct sunlight do you see any green, and then very little. Still--works!

I just received this sweater-the weather's still warm, so I haven't had the opportunity to wear it. The styling is great and it seems to be well-made. I'll comment more once I've tried it out.

Nice, accurate fit, color purchased was "sable". It is grey...no brown tone to it at all. Slight itch factor but sometimes one must bear the pain to look good

First off, this is wool. So it will run a little warmer than the cotton sweaters we've been accustomed to. The waistline is low and lays flat across the hips... again, if you're used to elastic (or woven) waistbands on your sweaters, this is also different. Comfortable, especially if you use this for outdoor sports or shooting sports. The "ultra suede" fabric on the shoulders and elbows should make this sweater last a long time. The arms are very long and I wear the sleeves "cuffed."

The Large arrived a bit smaller than I was expecting. I'm exchanging it for an X-Large

This commando-style sweater is very heavy and very warm! You may find it too warm to wear indoors, in fact. Construction is good, and it should prove durable enough for regular outdoor wear.

It's warm. It's rugged. It's not very expensive. If you're at the border between two sizes get the larger one; it's a little snug since the arms are cut tight. I bought a couple since my 20-year-old LLBean cotton henleys are starting to fray. These are warmer, but not quite as comfortable ... my daughter thought the cotton ones were hug sweaters. These are coarse wool and are definitely not hug sweaters.

Love the sweater. I washed it by hand and dried it flat. It shrunk just enough to make it uncomfortable. Will be ordering another sweater soon and will get it drycleaned.

Sweater has already been "in service", layered under an outer jacket. Warm and comfortable casual sweater, suitable for hunting, chores, and other work that I do. Wish the collar had been a bit taller to keep neck warm. I knew what I was ordering, but am a bit unsure how the fabric shoulder patches will hold up after having worn the garment. Four stars for sure. Durability still to be determined.

In these days of cheap cashmere, it's gotten awfully hard to find a really warm, thick all wool men's sweater. I'd prefer it without all the hunting patches (which are made of a stiff cotton duck) as this is just for use around the house. But it's soft, very warm, and long enough for my 6', 150lb husband even in the regular (not tall) size M.

I layered this with a light-weight rain jacket while birdwatching in the Andes. The two were an excellent combination. The sweater is warm and well made; I expect years of wear from it.

Fits me well, really warm, perfect for winter layering when the temps plunge. Another great LL Bean outdoor product.

I am very happy with this product. Fit and Sizing was as advertised.

This is my first LLbean sweater purchase and it is an awesome sweater. The merino wool is very sturdy and warm. The fit is very slim while the knit allows for the sweater to stretch. I am a 42R and a large fits perfectly. The only caution is that the armpits could be larger and more forgiving. There is only enough room under the sweater to wear a T-shirt and not much more due to the close fit under the arms. It is my estimation that the sweater will breakin nicely.
