This sweater is terrific! It looks great on me, but more importantly, it keeps me warm. Layered with a jacket, it'll keep me warm in all kinds of weather.

Just received this sweater, put it on, and immediately felt the warmth and quality. I am a BIG GUY and probably pushing the XXL size, but it stretches to accommodate. Classic style and very manly appearance. Can't wait to try it out in some raw, cold Indiana weather. Always wanted this sweater since I looked through LLBean catalogues as a boy. Finally got it...

Had to return the large size sweater since it was too long in the body and sleeves.

Everything that I expected....looks & fits good.

This sweater is extremely well-made. It's nice and warm; ya just can't beat wool. The military shoulder and elbow patches are a nice touch for the overall look. I'm 6'0", 185lbs and bought a regular Large. It fits absolutely perfect. Although it's listed as slim-cut, the relaxed chest and shoulders put it right in the space between being fully slim-fitting and just too baggy. For a sweater that you want roomy for shirts underneath, but not so big that you're swimming in it, this one is perfect.

Wow, the first thing is, and it isn't in the description, this sweater is made of merino lambs wool (no itch). Outstanding and very sharp looking! I also have the sleeveless version that is merino as well so I was hoping this was the same. The Henley version allows for venting the heat when you warm up without having to remove the sweater until you get really warm. Also, wool keeps you warm even when it's wet, it is naturally water repellent because of the lanolin in the fibers, is anti-microbial also because of the lanolin and lastly, is fire resistant, unlike nylon and polyester. This sweater will last a very long time. Get yours today!

I purchased this sweater after seeing it on the LL Bean website. I had a gift certificate that I received for Christmas and was looking for something warm to wear. This sweater looked interesting and fashionable so I ordered it. It looks even better than in the catalog and fits perfectly. I have always had good luck when purchasing from LL Bean.

Very recently I purchased a Commando 100% Wool Sweater from LL Bean. The arrival was prompt, in excellent condition and there was no charge. The sweater itself is of excellent quality, very warm, and it fit me very well. With sweaters especially I always prefer to buy 100% wool. They wear like iron, Never lose their shape, and from living in a fairly wet climate, Portland, Oregon area, they are warm even when wet! I would heartily recommend this sweater to anyone.

this clothing reminds me of sean connery in a movie he was in about ww2 and his commando type sweater. great quality. you had better like it because it will become a legacy in your family history. Heavy quality and feel like it will stand up to anything.

I bought three of these around 3 years ago, and I wear them more than any other sweater I own. The wool is good quality, the patches/reinforcements are in just the right places, and they are very warm. These also pill up far LESS than most of my other sweaters (largely thanks to the patches). If you like the style, you absolutely can't go wrong with these.

I am completely satisfied with this sweater. It's well-made and looks great - additionally, it's comfortable and warm. I was "on the fence" as to whether to order the crew neck version or the Henley. I'm glad I went with the Henley because, in my opinion, it looks better. Given that many reviews attest to a "slimmer" fit, I ordered up one size and went with an XXL - fits me perfectly! The reason I went up one size is because I don't particularly like "form-fitting" or slim sweaters. I will affirm what many have posted in their reviews: the color is much more like a chocolate brown (looks great!) than the Green Heather. L.L. Bean has a winner with this sweater!

Commando style sweater, better than the one I was issued, warm and comfortable, I really like the button neck closure. Worth every penny!

Purchased for layering on cold Upstate NY days. I'm 6'1", 155lbs, and purchased the large, tall. Fits just right for layering over another shirt. Warm. Great quality. Expect it to become a favorite.

Yeah, you guessed it, I'm ex-military. But hey guys, this is a great sweater. I'm 5'10" and 182 lbs. and the large was a perfect fit for me. Excellent construction and really warm. Good quality like most things from LL Bean. Settled on the Henley version after much deliberation. It's a replacement to a green one I've had for years.

I bought the commando sweater because it is similar to what I have been wearing at work in winter's past. I ordered a large and it fits the way it should. It feels heavy and well made and should stand up to active wear for many years. The price is a little steep and if it was on sale I would buy another!

Too hot to wear still but quality is exceptional, as is style, I'm excited for cooler weather now, and will be taking this sweater when I join navy

I ordered the Henley Commando Sweaters in two different colors based on the excellent review by other customers. I don't regret the purchase for a second. These sweaters are high quality and look great. They are warm and fit well. Several people have complimented me on the sweater. Before long, I'll be buying some in other colors, too.

I love this sweater. It is very warm and I particularly like the elbow patches and other styling accents. I still struggle with the fit of some LL Bean clothes. At 6'2" and 180 lbs I should be large-tall. While LL Bean button down shirts fit great, their sweaters are great for arm length, but generally seem to be too long in the body. After trying several sizes of this sweater I finally settled on a large. I will wear this one as more of an insulating layer over a long sleeve base shirt. I have been wearing this as a layer for hunting and shooting. I will probably purchase an extra large next year to give me something a little roomier to wear to work over a collared shirt. I continue to be extremely satisfied with the service from LL Bean. All exchanges and returns are handled promptly.
