This sweater is without a doubt the best sweater I've EVER owned. PERFECT!
As soon as I can I'll be buying another in a different color to squirrel away for when this one wears out in 20 years.

My husband wore out the first one in about 3 years of constant wear. I darned the frayed cuffs, patched bigger holes with denim (for farm wear only) and ordered a new one. He loves the warmth of the 100% wool that's soft and not scratchy. The tight knit means it resists wind somewhat and doesn't snag easily on branches or nails. He likes it because it's a work sweater, not a dress sweater. In extra cold weather he wears it with his feather vest. So now he has 2 favorite sweaters, one for town wear. Photo shows patch on arm where sweater wore out from carrying firewood.

This sweater is exceptionally warm and very well made. My husband has been wearing one for years and loved it so well that I bought him another one. It looks great and feels great!

I recently purchased this sweat due to the conditions of my Job as a stagehand for private and corporate events. During my work it requires me to either work outside in light drizzles and or cold venues i.e indoors ice rinks for the Cirque du Soleil show Crystal. The quality of the sweater is fantastic the patches on wear and tear spots work well for use in a work environment. The wool provides enough warmth along with breathability and water repellent. I would highly recommend this product

This is a well-made, comfortable sweater that is distinctive-looking and a great color. I'd call it kind of a "green-ish mud", and I think it looks good with black, blue, brown or tan pants. It has extra long sleeves and they came already rolled up at the cuffs. It is warm but, since it's wool and has a looser knit, it doesn't feel overly so. It does feel a little bulky to me but, since I don't have any other sweaters, I don't know if it's supposed to. I'm not tall enough for my weight, and it fits snugly right around my beer gut. It feels fine everywhere else. It even feels okay at the waist, where it has elastic.
If you have my body style (big around the gut but normal everywhere else), you might want to order a size up from what you would normally order.

I liked this sweater so much I accidently ordered it again this year for Christmas - my husband was actually wearing the sweater I got him last year when he opened it - and since it's in a different color - he's keeping it. Love the well made products from LLBean and their tall sizes.

This is the warmest and most heavy duty sweater I own! It's comfortable with only a t-shirt under it in temps as low as the 20's. Great value!

COMFORTABLE AND IT SEEMS IT WILL BE VERY WARM FOR THE WINTER MONTHS. LIKE OTHERS HAVE SAID YOU ONLY NEED A T-SHIRT UNDERNEATH.

The fit and the look were great. The price, a bit steep. The feel, almost too warm for northern Maine.

Good traditional sweater for fall, or under a jacket or coat for winter.

My wife and I visited freeport and LLBean July 22, 2018 and my wife bought this sweater for me for my birthday. I just love the quality and color of this sweater. I had another one just like it for many years and wore it out so my wife wanted me to have another....

For starters, this is a COLD WEATHER sweater. It's not just wool. It's thick. You will wear an undershirt, which will super-insulate the heat. If you're from the southwest(like me), you'll wonder why at about 55(f) this feels too warm. That takes some getting used to or just some colder temps.
That being said, it's perfect for just about anything outdoors in < 50(f) temps. Super durable and insulating. This is really meant for working on a boat or in the snow.
My only suggestion would be to make a cotton version for milder weather. I'd buy 3 more if you did.

I love this sweater. I bought it for fishing because it's all wool. The fit is great. It's really warm. The Henley collar can be buttoned up for extra warmth. Mine is navy because the other colors don't work for me. Not a brown or green guy. But the navy is perfect. Great addition to my wardrobe, fishing or otherwise. And most improtantly, my wife likes it.

Excellent product. Have 1 Henley and 3 pullovers with one in camo. Tough, well made and excellent garment elk and whitetail deer hunting in the mountains

I get more compliments on my two Commando Sweaters then any sweater I have. They are very warm. I wear them to mass in 34 degrees with no jacket and they are perfect. Well worth the money.

I've been looking for "this" sweater for a long time. The look...refined urban tactical elegance. The fit...I'm 5'10, 178 with athletic build and the small/regular was a perfect fit. Some in the reviews sized up and if you have a bit of a belly you my choose to do just that and/or opt for the tall, but if not sizing is true. The feel...super soft and quite warm.
The only thing (LL Bean) is that I want a grey version and that isn't an option...wish list.
If you want a tactical sweater that doesn't sacrifice functionality, style or quality in any way...add this gem to the cart...maybe even two! Enjoy.

I have a couple of these sweaters. For winter wear they are hard to beat. Being all wool they are a little scratchy but well worth the cost. The size is very good, they are very warm, and they wear well. I usually clean them by putting the sweater in the dryer with a load of wet clothes set on medium. Give it 20 minutes and the sweater is clean without shrinking.
Longer drying is bad.
With a windbreaker they keep me warm at zero or so. Please never stop offering them.

Terrific, durable, very warm, great athletic fit, looks cool too. Better for colder days and relatively thick, but not baggy or loose.
If you has one sweater on a (cold) desert island - this would be it.

Great construction and materials as usual for LL Bean products. Plan on wearing an undershirt because the 100% wool is a bit scratchy against the skin. Very warm and comfortable. More fitted so size up if you like a looser fit. Another note on size-- consider sizing up if you have broader shoulders due to the shoulder patching preventing the wool from being able to stretch. I am 6' 175 with a slightly athletic build and wear the medium.
