Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
Not possible to assess as I ordered a size 36 and received a size 44, though packing slip also indicated size 36

The belt buckle has faded on 2 of these belts i owned. The quality of AE has definitely gone down hill.

Bought this belt in brown color and very shortly thereafter i started seeing cracking / discoloration right at the front of the belt (part that goes through the buckle). Very unprofessional looking and not what I expected for AE.

I'm finally getting around to writing a review on this awful belt. It looses color and looks like it has white steaks relative to the chili color it was supposed to be. This happened within the first three months of use. Stick to the dress shoes, which I love. I've gotten 5 pairs since 2014 and love each one!

Not even one month old and the color is rubbing off where my cell phone holster attaches. Never had this before with a belt and I've used a cell phone holster for years. Poor tanning of the leather.

I bought this belt together with a pair of chilli park avenues. After around a month of wearing (2x per week) the pelt had so many scratches and color issues, that I had to put it aside. (No exceptional use, just desk, presentations etc)
Actually I forgot about it for around a year in the meantime, however after seeing the other reviews, I decided to share my experience as well. I never had this with any other belt before. And this experience stopped me from buying further AE products.
If these problems have been fixed and you want to offer a replacement, feel free to reach out to me.
Thank You
Michael

I purchased this belt less than a year ago and wear it infrequently. On the first day worn, I noticed that my nails scratched the belt. Since then I tried to be extremely careful with the belt but it seems that every time the belt is worn new scratches continue to appear. The belt is now less than 1 year old (10 months) and the leather is showing signs of distress. It's a good looking belt and great color (Chilli) but it's hard to keep the belt from showing signs of wear even if you only wear it once or twice per month.

Purchased this belt to match my Park Avenues. Color was close but not exactly matching which I understand is from tanning processes, so not a huge deal. The biggest issue is that the belt shows major wear and cracking even though I wear it at most once or twice a month, I have since stopped wearing it to avoid embarrassment. I have casual department store belts that were a quarter the cost of this belt, yet have lasted years longer before showing any type of wear.

Bought this belt to match new Fifth Avenues in Walnut but the belt was significantly lighter color than the shoes (which are beautiful!!). Almost looked like the Walnut color was not applied at all - just a solid light tan. Quality was also not what I expected - lighter weight and flimsy feeling, which I admit is a judgement call, but I just didn't feel like it was worth $110.

I purchased this belt in Chili to match my McAllister's about 1.5 years ago. The colors didn't exactly match up, but when I got the belt it was in decent shape. I wear the pair (shoes & belt) once a week. The belt is showing MAJOR signs of distress/cracking with minimal use. At the price point of this belt I hoped to get much more use out of it. I had to go out and purchase another belt to start wearing with my McAllister's to avoid the embarrassment. I would NOT recommend this belt.

I have the Brown Basic belt and Chili Basic belt. Only after a 3 wears both are showing cracks and scratches. I feel like I have to be extra careful to prevent any other blemishes. When you pay this much for a belt you should not have to baby it. I have other belts that are a fraction of the cost and look better than this Allen Edmonds belt even after being worn for 5 years. I have experienced the same thing all others are complaining about with these belts.

I have this belt in brown and after 12-15 wears, the belt has a fair number of scratches (presumably from belt loops?) and is already fading considerably at the edges. For the brand's reputation and the price point, I had hoped for a more durable belt. This is my first Allen Edmonds product, and while I'm hopeful this product does not represent the Edmonds quality in general, this first experience has been a disappointing one.

I unfortunately hadn't read the reviews before I purchased my chili wide basic belt and I can attest to the fact that there's some serious quality issues with this product.
Brand new, it looks and feels great to the touch. After only a couple of wears, however, already quite a few crack have developed, in line with what other reviewers have stated.
My Manistee belts have never done this after many wears. This belt was to match my dark chili Strands, and I figured I should try a different style for once but I guess I should've stuck with Manistee...

After only a few uses, this expensive belt has faded away. I have it in dark brown and the color has rubbed off, almost as though the belt is made of cheap plastic as opposed to expensive leather. I'm perplexed!
The look of the belt when new is gorgeous... Which makes the poor quality even more disappointing.

I bought a pair of chili wing tips and bought the accompanying belt. It is my 3rd pair of Edmonds, and I have a very high expectation around quality given my past experiences, specifically with the 1-belt loop design (not sure of the model name). I got this version because apparently the single loop doesn't come in chili. I was also told that this model is the standard AE model -- so how could I go wrong.
Well, frankly this belt isn't very good. I concur with most of these reviews and am a bit glad it's not just me. The belt looks very worn even after just a handful of wears. It is completely worn on the edges and has scratches throughout. I've tried everything -- including polishing -- and nothing helps. I went back to the store for help but they essentially said "that's how it goes, try some polish." I'm hoping that this is a function of the color specifically and not of AE belts in general. The single loop bourbon AE belt I have it simply fantastic. Very disappointing for the money I paid. For the record, I've had no structural problems with the belt.

AE offers my favorite shoes on the planet - based on many factors. However, my first opportunity to purchase its 'wide basic dress belt' has ended in complete disappointment. The belt developed significant cracks near the 3rd eyelet in the leather the first and only day of wear. I will be sticking with the shoes only from here on out.

I purchased the wide belt in chili to match a pair of Allen Edmonds dress shoes that I recently purchased. I have done this with three of the four pairs of Allen Edmonds I own. All of the shoes have been great, and the other belts I own have held up well.
Unfortunately, the chili version of this belt went from looking brand new to many years old with just a number of wears. The leather now appears extremely stressed with marks and streaks throughout the entire belt, even including the loops near the buckle. I went from being able to wear this to the office to now feeling like it can only come out when doing some work outside. This is not the quality I have come to know and expect from many pairs of shoes and other products I own from Allen Edmonds. Very disappointed with this purchase, and I would not recommend it in this color.

I purchased this belt in Merlot and have worn it fewer than 5 times. It already looks horrible - noticeably cracking and discolored around the buckle. I'm very disappointed and would have expected more given the price point.

The belt looked great initially but after a couple of months, the portion of the leather that gets routed through the buckle started to developed large ripples and wrinkles. This wrinkled area is about 4 inches and very noticeable. I wish I could say this is "dress belt" quality but I can't. This is the only Allen Edmonds item I have that missed the mark.

I have 6 AE belts. I love all of them except this one. It looks great new but scuffs more every time I put it on and buckle it. I have worn it less than a dozen times. I have the chili colored one. I wish AE would make the Manistee belt in chili. The Manistee is a much better belt.

had the experience a couple of years back and thought it was a (bad) coincidence. bought again two years later and this is what i got: signs of wear from day 1, the belt was un-wearable by the 4th month! do something as your belts threaten the brand.

I got this belt in walnut to match my strands as I was having a difficult time finding a nice color match. The walnut color matches pretty well; however, I am very dissatisfied with the quality of the belt. It seems as though even after only a handful of uses, enough to count on your hand, there are significant signs of wrinkling and micro chips/ flaking on the upper. I took a few pictures to show this flaking of the leather on top revealing a different material underneath. If you look closely at the stitching near the bottom you will see the peeling. I am very wary of how this product will last in the long run as it has already begun peeling already with basically absolute minimal use. With Allen Edmonds having a strong brand for quality and well made construction especially for shoes - this belt does not exemplify those characteristics.
