Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
Good for the event, but didn't last long. I barely wear it anymore.

The belt was not as advertised and I ordered the same model # as the worn belt I currently own. It arrived in a matte finish vs. the proper glossy finish

I have several Allen Edmonds belts that are very nice. This one I just got appears to be made of vinyl? I am almost sure the liner is vinyl.

Seems like quality has gone down noticeably since I bought my last belt a couple years ago. Leather feels completely different from my other wide basic.

... has become the hallmark of AE. I own 5 shoes from them and have been satisfied only when i did my own physical screening of the product before buying. I have to say that buying American is worth nothing to me if I overpay and get low quality, no matter what whoever says. I expect top quality from AE because I am paying top of the line prices. Their leather quality has been low and workmanship inconsistent and riddled with errors.

Bought this belt a few weeks ago to go with a pair of chili fifth aves. Biggest issue is that the two belt loops take up so much space that they don't allow the belt to be centered on my waist (buckle has to sit right of my waist because of the space the second loop takes up). I've worn the belt once, and can't wear again because the buckle placement looks so silly. In retrospect, should have gone with the Clay Ave.

I received mine over a month ago and It was sitting in my closet until I found today that it has a cut/scratch on the front.. I am not sure if it was from the shipping, but seems like the durability isn't as good as shoes.

The belt looks and feels decent, however it is extremely easily scuffed. If your fingernail even gently grazes the belt against the grain it will scuff noticeably, which doesn't seem to bode well for it's quality or durability.

Allen Edmonds belts typically hold up extremely well. I've been using my favorite AE belt for 12 years and it's been aging beautifully. However, this wide belt in chili color falls short for an AE product. The color is wearing off like a cheap veneer within less than a dozen outings. It's disappointing given the quality AE is usually known for.

I bought this belt in bourbon roughly six months ago and have worn it around 10-15 times. The quality of the leather is gorgeous but the silver on the buckle was quick to turn different shades of black. I don't have this issue with my Manistee belts. Stay away from this belt and go for the Manistee instead.

Listen to the other reviews. I purchased this belt in the chili color because it was an exact match for a pair of chukkahs I recently purchased. It was quite attractive when it arrived and seems well constructed. Unfortunately, within the first two weeks creases developed around the buckle area and exposed light areas just underneath the surface of the leather. Applying leather conditioner did little to fix the issue because the color only appears to be superficial. It now looks older than my two year old department store belt. I have a pair of AE shoes that have softened and developed rich, beautiful creases in them. Given the price of this belt, I expected more of the same. Very disappointed overall in my purchase.

I have a few AE belts, but it seems these (chili in particular) is showing signs of wear after only a few months. I wear it maybe once or twice a week at the most. All around the buckle, it looks like a belt that is years old. I have other belts that are in fact several years old and do not look as worn as the AE Wide Basic in Chili.

After 10 wearings, the belt looks like it was something I picked up from a discount store years ago. Every time I put it on, it puts more scuffs in the finish. The belt now looks aged and cheap. Very disappointed for the price point and the AE name. This is the Merlot finish.

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
I bought an Allen Edmonds several months ago. Paid around the same price, which is rather expensive. But AE is made in the US by an Amercian company. I'm willing to pay more for that. But this belt is a different story. I have a $$ outsourced belt by another company, and this belt looks and feels almost identical. I don't mind paying more for AE, but not 3x as much. You can buy a comparable belt for much less. I bought this belt in two colors and will keep them out of sheer laziness. Sorry, but this is very overpriced for what it is.

Bought this belt to match the shoes, was quite difficult finding an exact match as some belts were too light and some were too dark (even though they were the same brown). After wearing the belt minimally and with rotation it already shows signs of wear and is starting to chip. Very disappointed, especially since I love the Allen Edmonds' shoes and brand. Uploaded pics to show current condition.

I have purchased many AE products and will continue to do so because of the quality but I had to finally rate the wide basic dress belt in brown. I purchased the brown, merlot, walnut, and the black belt to match with my Park Avenues in their respective colors. The walnut began to scratch severely and the brown ... actually could go as black because several co-workers asked why I was wearing a black belt with my brown Park Avenues! I do not even wear the brown belt anymore. It still looks new. I just had to comment.

The belt looks and fits great and matches my Strand shoes perfectly. However, the quality of the belt is subpar from what I expect in AE. The belt started cracking after fairly minimal use at the point where it was fading, especially near the buckle area.

I purchased two of these belts two years ago (one in black and one in chili brown) to match two pairs of shoes I had purchased. The shoes were/are great and I still wear them as is the black belt, but the chili belt has scratched, cracked, and wrinkled like crazy and has not passed the test of time. It really is not wearable in suiting attire anymore. Dropping this kind of money on a belt I had expected it to hold up - unfortunately that has not been the case. I recommend the belt in black, but stay away from the chili.

Unfortunately, as several others have mentioned in their reviews (all of which I missed prior to my purchase), this belt scratches easy. The look/feel is excellent, but the belt is useless and an eyesore (especially at the price) due to the scratches that have marred my belt after less than a month of use.

This belt looks great, however after wearing the belt only once there were already noticeable blemishes in the leather. The leather appears to be scratched and worn down. This is not the quality that I would expect for a belt at this price level.

Bought this belt in burnished dark brown to go with dark brown burnished Larkin shoes. Loved the color but belt buckle design is flawed as it does not lie flat against the leather when bukle. As such it leaves very visible wear marks. Its no problem if you never have to alter the belt for tightening or letting out. I have used AE polish but can not cover the wearing. Its a pity because the belt is not cheap.

Shouldn't it match? I bought this belt in the Chili Burnished Calf to match a pair ofAllen-Edmonds Weybridges in the same color. I was a bit shocked to find that the belt didn't particularly match the shoes- it was kind of a dull brown, and not very dressy. The shoes are tremendous and I would recommend them to anyone. The belt? My Perry Ellis is a better color match, and dressier.
