I ordered 6 different belts for my husband to try on, and he picked this one hands down. It is super soft, just the right width, and goes great with jeans or dress pants. After we bought it, I realized that it is calf skin. I feel bad about that, and wonder if it is part of the horrific veal industry, so I won't be ordering another calf skin anything again. I would love it if leather products were connected with humane treatment of animals, which is big in California.

I ordered this belt in the dark brown to match me new AE shoes, but it was almost black. Then I ordered it a lighter brown and it doesn't match. Please help resolve this issue AE.

I have only been wearing this belt since January and so far I am very satisfied. I am concerned reading some of the reviews, i.e, i am concerned that it will wear in short order. So far I am satisfied.

I have the belt in black (to go with my Leeds) and walnut (for my tan McNeils), and both belts are great.

I use the same belt hole for my buckle so the one hole gets all the use, but the leather has torn away leaving a rather unsightly "tag" of thin leather sticking out. I use the belt sparingly and have had it about 4 years.

This is a great belt and arguably worth the premium price. But I was disappointed to see the Allen Edmonds name etched visibly on the buckle, which seems tacky on a piece of this quality. (It's also barely discernable on the product photograph; this detail should be included in the product description.) If AE must put their brand on the buckle, I'd prefer it to be more discreetly placed on the top or bottom.

Purchased 2 belts, one black and one walnut. Unlike other reviewers, I have experienced a fair amount of creasing in the black belt, but not the walnut belt. Fit between the belts is uniform, and leather appears to match the shoes, but I don't think the black belt will wear as well as the walnut belt due to the variance in the two leathers.

This belt is a conservatively styled, durable leather dress belt, perfect for wear with suits and other business dress. The high-quality real calfskin does not crack or chip the way that cheaper belts tend to, and they are available in every possible color to coordinate with Allen Edmonds dress shoes. The plain, satin silver-colored buckle adds to the formality of this item. This is a staple in any business wardrobe, and is useful for casual wear as well.

"Match your shoes with your belt" should been a recognized axiom of any well-dressed man. If you own Allen Edmonds shoes, do yourself a favor and purchase a matching Allen Edmonds belt. My overall impression of the belt - after owning it for about a month - is satisfactory. The leather is high quality, the buckle smart, and the fit is perfect. I've yet to determine durability, but I'm positive this belt will survive a few years of faithful service. My only quibble would be that the double loop can prevent the wearer from getting a straight Gig-line (the alignment of a shirt's placket, edge of a belt, and the edge of a trouser's fly). Again, my quibble is a minor criticism. Side note: I have a 31-inch waist and I purchased the 34-inch belt. It fits perfectly. Be sure to size up.

I got these belts in black/walnut (mainly to match walnut shoes). The belt length ran a bit smaller than I expected; however, it will probably stretch as it ages (the belt is a bit shorter than other belts I have in the same size). I recommend going up one size from your pants size (so if you wear 32 get the belt in 34).

My belt is corcovan in color and after some time the dye has worn off, I have put polish on the ware spots but it doesn't last, any suggestions?

Needed a belt in a hurry and Zappos came thru. Only issue is that these run a bit small in size. Great belt. Greater company!

I have several Allen Edmonds belts. This is the stiffest one I have received. I am not very happy with how difficult it is to use.

Bought this to go with my brown waxed suede McTavish's. Color is a good match and belt is constructed well, but it is much more flexible - almost flimsy or delicate feeling - compared to my non-suede belts in this product line.

I bought the chili color belt in 36 to replace the exact same one I purchased about 3 years ago in size 34 . The quality is still great but the color is not the same at all. It no longer fits with my Allen Edmonds shoes; although both belts have the same item number, the one I received it is more of a dark brown as opposed to be a reddish middle tone brown like I had. Therefore, I will have to return it and search for another option. I'm extremely disappointed; I really liked that belt!

The belt color is not like the pic and is MUCH darker. Bought this belt to match "brown" color descripted suede Cavanaugh shoes that turned out to be incorrectly categorized on website and are actually "snuff" suede. The two pics look MUCH closer on website than they turned out to be. The belt quality is great but I'm not happy about the color discrepancies. The color descriptions and pics need to be more accurate and the clearance "brown" Cavanaugh should be labeled "snuff". Now I've gotta buy "brogue" colored suede shoes AND a "snuff" belt, lol.

Quality of product was not as good as in the past.

I purchased two of these belts about 2 years ago, one black and one chili. The black one is holding up great, but as others have noted, the chili one almost immediately (within weeks) began showing signs of wear. Fingernail scratches, getting in and out of the car, etc. I even tried applying some AE polish to clean it up and the problem persisted. I'm hoping there was just an issue with the batch because I do love having a perfect match to my shoes, but I definitely expect higher quality from a belt at this price point.

Belt was noticeably thinner than the same model I bought in a different color a year o two ago. Disappointed.

Would not buy this belt again. Just doesn't have the feel of a Allen Edmond belt.

This belt looks great and matches the shoes perfectly. However, after only two months, it began cracking and showing major signs of wear. I thought it would last longer than that. I still wear it, but it only looked exceptional for a brief time.

Bought 3 of these in Black, Dark Brown & Walnut a year or so ago. I don't wear them much and they all have been great except that the Walnut one started showing wear/stretch marks after the first couple of times. Black and Dark Brown have been solid and still look perfect. It's a great overall, just try and stay away from the Walnut one. I bought it to go with my Strands but now it just looks sloppy.

Allen Edmonds customer service rep contacted me, discussed the product and replaced at no cost to me. Customer service is excellent.

I bought this belt in Walnut Calf to match my McAllisters. While I was intially pleased with the look and feel of the Wide Basic Dress Belt, I quickly realized that quality might not be up to par. Within a month the belt began to show exaggerated wear, especially around the holes, and I find that it creases and scratches way too easy. For the price and considering my previous experience with Allen Edmonds products, I expected more.

Not as Advertised - I like this belt quite a bit. The chestnut is a beautiful brownish color, it has a nice style, well-made, & worth the money. My one issue is actually with Zappos & not the belt itself. Zappos advertises the belt as being "wide" & 1 & 1/2 inches (1.5 inches). It's NOT. In reality, it's a bit less than 1 & 3/8 inches. I bought it specifically because Zappos said it was 1.5 inches, so I'm disappointed.
