Seems to run large. I need thick socks as the heel has slippage.

Living in a wet and cold location, I was looking for a comfortable shoe easily on & off with a sizing allowing for a variety of sock sizes depending on the temperature. Shoes keep my feet dry and comfortable.
Only suggestion is longer laces.

These are sturdy shoes that repel snow, water and ice well. The materials are not super cushioned and because of that I think they will last a long time. For extra cushion, a thick sock solves that issue. One wish is that the leather tongue folds back easily when inserting, would like elastic or other keepers to hold in place. Other than that the low height, profile, style , durability and water proof qualities are just as I expected and better.

I like them. They keep my feet nice and dry. For me they could be just alittle narrower and the tongue could be a half inch longer.

I've had mine for at least 30 years. Originally, I purchased them when I worked in Downtown Chicago for the wet, slushy wintery days. Now I am retired and still wear them when the snow isn't too deep and I need to stay dry. Finally, thinking about sending them back to get re-soled. Not bad!

The stitching on the inside of the shoe wears out pretty quickly. The shoes will last for years if you have someone stich over it with a different type of thread

I'm so glad to have bought a new pair of low Bean boots as they do what other waterproof shoes don't do. I'm a carpenter and I have to work outside in the wet and mud and these shoes can keep me warm and dry.

But not great. Comfortable but I think the bottom sole could be a bit thicker. Sizing was good , followed the ll bean recommendations. Have not tested the waterproofing yet.

I like everything about the shoes except the strings. They are too stiff.

The shoe is great in all respects except the tongue is too short. When you walk in the shoe the tongue is pulled down and bunches at the base. It is both uncomfortable and unsightly. I understand the shoe is built on a very old design but I think a slight modification to the tongue would make the shoe perfect.
Perhaps something more like the Maine hunting boot or a simple loop mid tongue to thread the laces through to prevent the tongue from slipping down and bunching up at the base of the tongue where it attaches to the shoe.
FYI I ware the shoes with Bean rag wool socks.

I wear a 9 med and the 8 as recommended, was slightly small /narrow but wearable and getting better with time (1 month). Good Bean quality (My full gum boot is approaching 20 years and just now wearing out tread). Laces are 10 inches too short (go figure) so I just use 2 sets of grommets until I can get longer laces.
Definitely recommend if you can get the size right.

Like many have commented, the included 26" shoe laces are way too short. I purchased a pair of 32" which are much better length for the shoe. I would think with all of the negative comments on the included laces, LL Bean would have responded with longer laces by now. Tongue length, maybe slightly too short, is no issue to me.
Bean's boot sizing is also a bit frustrating. I typically wear a 9-1/2, sometimes 10, shoe. I ordered a full 1-1/2 size down, 8, from my normal 1/2 size as recommended. These were a little tight to start but know from experience their size 9 is too big for me. These have since worked into a comfortable fit. Overall I do like the quality and casual, nice appearance combined with the weather/waterproof design for winter wear.

Shoe laces are stiff and hard to tie. Also, could be a little longer.

These boots were bought to keep my feet warm and dry in shallow snow and they have met those expectations. If you are going to do a lot of walking, especially on hard, concrete floors, these are not the boots for you. They are helpful for recess duty and cleaning up the driveway. I would recommend these anyone who needs to be out in the shallow snow.

Following sizing recommendations, boots fit well. I agree with many other raters, laces need to be longer, by probably 2 inches. I would also prefer to have a slightly longer tongue, about 1/10 of an inch.

It is the same duck shoe that I have purchased for the past 40 plus years except that the laces are too short. Why nickel and dime on the laces? I get ten years out of them before the stitching starts to fail. LL Bean has given me a new pair, but I felt guilty so I purchased my last new pair.

I measure 10 1/2. I ordered and love size 9. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the laces are 28" and in my opinion, too short. Had to spend $8 elsewhere to get 32"

Very difficult to put on because the tongue is too short. And the laces should be longer.

I have normal width feet, wear size 10 1/2 shoe, never need to buy wide. Following sizing recommendation, first bought a size 10 "medium" width. Shoe was fine in length but too tight in width at widest point of feet. Returned for a size 10 wide and fit is now perfect. Also, as others have mentioned the laces are just too short; OK if they stay tied but can't double-knot. We'll see how these work out over time.

I have worn (and worn out) gum boots for 40 years. These are like my first boots; but my last ones were designed to fit and feel like trainers. They were the most comfortable gum boots made by LLBEAN but unfortunately are no longer made. Current boots are a bit austere and require thicker socks for comfort.
