Great mens boot/shoe. Normally am a size 10.5/11 but ordered a 10 & fit great! Excellent quality. Wanted slip on one & not a tied one.

Bought these for my husband for Christmas. We take walks every night and it had been raining for awhile and he said he wished he had some waterproof shoes. Last night we had rain and freezing rain and he wore them for the first time and wore two pairs of socks (because the shoes are not lined)and he thought his feet would be cold (32 degrees)well he said he didn't need the second pair. He loves these shoes. He says they are very comfortable and do keep his feet dry and warm. He generally wears 11 1/2 EEE's. The size I ordered was 11 EE.
And they fit like a glove with room for an extra pair or thick socks. He IS a Happy Camper.

The fit on these boots was great right out of the box. Break-in was not required due to the construction.
Workmanship is tops. Just what one would expect from LLB.

Obviously this is not the best looking shoe in the world. However, it is probably the most famous. It is also probably the oldest existing shoe in the world that will probably be around forever. When I purchased these classic shoes about 4 or 5 years ago, I was hoping to get them in Gore-Tex; however, L.L. Bean only makes the higher top boots in Gore-Tex. But, fortunately, these low tops that are not Gore-Tex have kept me completely dry. These are not insulated, as in my opinion, shoes that you wear in the rain should not be insulated, since it usually rains in warmer weather. I imagine that I will own these shoes for at least 15 more years. At that time, I will buy another pair. Classic.

I'm on my second winter with these and love them. I have a pair of 12" Maine Hunting Boots that are over 20 years old (and still in good shape), but living in a warmer, southern clime, I don't have the chance to wear them much anymore. These shoes are perfect for the rainy, slushy days that are more common in the winter down south. Sizing guidelines are correct. I wish they's stick with calling them "Maine Hunting Shoes" - the "Bean Boots" logo on the back is, well, not as cool and retro. Glad these are at least assembled in the U.S. Though, on my old Maine Hunting Shoes, the rubber part stated "Made in the U.S." These do no so, I assume the rubber bottoms are made overseas. I wonder if the leather for the tops is still sourced from Wisconsin? Still, a good, comfortable, practical shoe.

Iordered Bean boots-received them quickly and in great shape. When I ordered I was concerned about size to order-the sizing instructions were right on.

Who would have thunk it?
But it's true. The shoes are everything the boots are (absent 12 fewer holes to lace). Note, however, if the water's 6 inches or higher your socks are getting wet.
The quality is what we've always expected from made in Maine, USA, by L.L. Bean.
Super product at twice the price.
Thanks.

Bought this shoe for my son. We bought one size smaller than what he usually wears. He says they fit nicely. Great shoe for walking to college classes on a rainy day.

I'll be 51 next month, and I've been wearing the Gum Shoes since I was in college. They're great.
I wear them most mornings while walking the dog, which means I have to walk across a lot of wet grass.
On rainy days or when there is a light snow fall, I may wear them all day.
I recently purchased a new pair since my old ones had worn out. Each pair has lasted an average of several years--the shoes are very durable.
I also appreciate the fact they are available in a variety of widths--I have a narrow foot, which means shoes can be hard to find.
I would give these a five-star ranking.

It took me 25 years to wear out the rubber bottoms of my gumshoes. I just received my L.L. Bean repaired boots - and they look great! The new rubber bottoms are expertly sown to my old leather uppers. They came with a great pair of sole inserts and new laces. I'm very pleased.

These shoes are very sturdy and perfect for mucking around in rain and mud. They seem to run big--I had to return and reorder one size smaller. Then they were fine.

I purchased these a few weeks ago. They are nice looking and completely waterproof. I ordered a size 8 for a size 9 foot. Even so, I find that I need 2 pairs of socks to keep the heels from sliding up and down. With the lower version I ended up tearing the heels out of more than 1 pair of socks. I plan to invest in thicker socks.
Pretty comfortable. I was tired of wet feet on my morning golf ball hitting and these will do fine. Can't attest to durability yet. At least these lace up. The lower version is near impossible to restring.

Like all of my Bean boots they don't naturally form to my foot. The rubber doesn't move and the leather is made to keep the boots on my feet. The tongues have a tendency to slide to the side while walking. This shift causes a hollow to form at the base of the tongue, this hollow tends to catch liquid. Not a major problem but something to be aware of.

After having my last pair of gumshoes for nearly 40 years I decided it was time for a new pair. My new pair was back ordered so it took quite a while to receive them. However, the new shoes were every bit the quality as my original pair. I expect these shoes to last thr rest of my life! One word of cautionthe sizing of these shoes is not normal, so pay attention to the sizing recommendations.

Great shoes, I've worn them for years and sent several pair back to be resoled quite a few times until they couldn't be resoled any longer. Only wished that they came in a wide width. Other styles do why not this one ?

Well made shoe, high quality and worth the money. Make sure you read the website recommendations on size. The shoes run large.

I love this boot, it is sized right and is wide. My only issue is the tongue - it slips down and bunches up when wearing. Not sure why but I am looking to add a small piece of leather to the top of the tongue to run the top laces through like other shoes have.

Thought I was going to buy the rubber moc but preferred the Gumshoe. Liked the way the gumshoe tied and laced. Followed advice of several reviews and tried on in a store. Really surprised that 11D fit my foot. In other shoes I have worn wide withs up to size 13. Very happy so far except for shoelaces. That's why 4 stars. TOO SHORT!!!!! Did not care for material of laces either. You brag about high the quality of handmade shoes and put a shoelace like that in the box. You should be ashamed. You are better than that. I bought a pair of laces and replaced them. I should not have to do that.

nice they are just as i wanted them to be. They would better if the tongue was longer and the shoe laces were longer to.

I bought these for my husband as an alternative to his taller (traditional) Bean Boots, which he uses if he's going to be outside for a longer period of time, as when shoveling snow. These are his comments on these shorter boots: "Comfortable but not perfect. They are a little difficult to get on, and the laces don't stay tied well. Otherwise, they are comfortable and keep my feet dry when taking the dog out, filling the birdfeeders, or doing other little outdoor chores in the winter."

The shoes are great, they just don't have a great fit. I read reviews before purchasing, and L.L. Bean's suggested sizing is a full size down (or size and a half if you have a half shoe size). I wear a 9.5 shoe and a 9D boot size. I ordered the 8D, and it is too narrow and a bit too short. The other reviews I've read are saying the 9 is too big, so not confident it will fit.
