First off the boots are awesome. But, You have to get your sizing problem under control. Flyers say to size one way catalog says another. Size up size down, get your sht together. You have to be loosing money on all the returns.

I have to agree with an earlier review I am very sad to have to return these. They sure don't fit like my earlier Maine Boots (30 years old). Fit great through the foot, but ankle and calf were WAY too wide. Even when tied as tightly as possible, the extra material was clunky and odd. Seems like the bottom is one size while the upper is a couple sizes larger.

High quality construction. My only complaint is that these are made for someone with cankles. Even with heavy socks, the top of the boot has a very wide diameter that can't be tied snug so it slops around on your leg. Not good for walking a distance. Maybe people in Maine are made this way but not in Colorado.

they run at least 1 full size too large. my husband wears size 9 med and has worn several pairs of LL Bean shoes/boots before in size 9 with no problems. we ordered these in his normal size and they were way too large and had to be returned almost 3 weeks ago. (we are still waiting for our card to be credited!) we then ordered the same boots in size 8 med and they fit much better, though not as well as the previous boots he's purchased from LLBean. something is wrong with the way these are made. i do not recommend them!

Extremely comfortable, capable, warm, waterproof boot! I am very happy that I decided to purchase this style! The leather is soft and had a broken-in feel from day 1. The insulation is light-weight but keeps my feet very warm (and dry) in extreme conditions. Classic style and look. Great arch support. I followed the guidance presented in the description and originally ordered my true size, and they fit in the width, but were too long - so I had to exchange for the next size down. I was worried about the fit until they arrived, when I discovered they fit perfectly! Overall, very happy with these boots!

Way too big. Top part (leather) is too big compared to bottom part (rubber). I believe the design is off or they put a size 11 upper on a size 9 bottom......oooops.

I ordered a size 10 since I am a 9.5 and it said to get a 10 but when it came in it was way too large. Materials are great but please fix the recommended sizing

I have to agree with the extremely large sizing on these! My son is an 11, bought an 11 in Freeport, they were WAY too big, brought them back to Freeport store and the associate said no, you should have been told to get a 10, got the 10, still WAY too big! He's away at school so I wanted him to be able to have them after Thanksgiving break. We're up in the air what to do but he'll clearly have to try them on.

Love these boots, but. Ordered a size 12, I typically take an 11.5 L.L.Bean said go up to the next size when ordering. I could move my family into these boots. Lol Theyre so big all around. Width, length, just huge. Quality is great as usual, just wish they fit. Im glad I ordered these early and have time to return them. Ill definitely order again, and based on the other reviews Im not the only one experiencing this. I know online ordering of boots isnt easy, but Ive ordered a similar pair of 6 inch regular and they fit perfectly. I understand these are a bit different. Id suggest going into the store on this particular style. 8 inch flannel lined.

Ran large - a 10 was large and I usually wear an 11. Plus the top was loose enough that it didn't lace snugly around my calf so the top rubbed my shin raw.

I've purchased 3 different styles over the years and all boots cost me well over $100 They all leak like a sieve period. Where the rubber is stitched up to the leather? Yeah can't keep water out. I've even gone so fare as applying silicone to the seams and threads but still water gets in. Obviously these in how many years where never really field tested. They look cool and okay for tramping around the yard for a few minutes but in the wilderness? Ah, no. They suck. Want something warm and really "waterproof "? Swamp boots or muck type boots. LL Bean boots? Save yourself some money and buy something else

Order 1-1.5 sizes down from your usual size, not .5, very frustrating this company is nothing what they used to be.

The quality of the boot is fine. Mystery sizing is a huge problem. I get the whole tradition thing but it'd be easier if you just shipped a random pair to my house. I followed all of the sizing suggestions and still got a shoe way too big. Then to add insult to that, I had to pay to ship them back. I tried to order the downsize of 1 1/2 shoe sizes and guess what out of stock. It tried a different pair and they fit completely differently - so frustrating for a great shoe

Ive worn Bean boots my whole life, many kinds over the years. Not anymore. The quality of materials has drastically declined. The old stuff still looks and feels great. The new looks and feels cheap. Not to mention, if I'm going to spend 100 to 300 dollars, I want my choice of widths. How can anyone offer "one size fits all" as far as width goes? Many used to have widths. Now you're lucky if you find one or two. Its as if an era has passed. Too bad.

These boots were good looking. I wanted them to work out. Unfortunately the uppers were uncomfortable around the shin, laced awkwardly, and just didn't feel as high quality as I had hoped. The shoe did feel a half size larger than I am accustomed to, which the website stated. I'm a fan of L.L. Bean and will continue to try products, but this one was too uncomfortable to wear.

My husband usually wears a size 11 and those were enormous, so we exchanged for a size 10. The size 10 was also about a half size too large. The leather was also pretty scratched and damaged on the second pair received. They weren't really the quality you'd expect for $160.00 boots!

I originally ordered a size 13 for my 13 foot. WAY too big. I then ordered a size 12, almost same size as the 13 was. Way too big. I gave up and found a store near me. I picked a boot off the shelf that I thought was a size 11, being it was close to my 13 shoes I had on. Salesman comes over and I said these look like they fit. Size 11, right? He says to me "you got a size 9 there sir". The length of a 9 was the length of my size 13 shoe that I was wearing. We decided on a size 10. I bought them. But I'll say this. I bought them for use during slush and snow removal in my driveway. And that's it. The inside of the boots are way too rough on some edges. The lining has a seem just below the ankle and then becomes thicker insulation into the rubber bottoms. That is a poor design and can be felt rubbing under the ankles. I know that I'll have these boots forever, because I will hardly ever wear them.

These boots are way too large. Ordered a size 13 and they are 1-1/2" longer than boots that fit me. Also the uppers around the ankles are huge. I am sizing down to a 12, and if a poor fit, I'm off of LL Bean footwear.

I order shoes in a 10.5 almost all the time. I just recently got a pair of Red Wings and sized down to a 9 as suggested to break them in. My first attempt with LL Bean was a size 10 and they were way too loose around the ankles. I returned for a size 9 and they're still too loose around the ankles. With the lack of a presence anywhere near the parts of Chicago where people live, I am left to either order another pair in a... size 8??? (2.5 sizes down from my usual size) or pull the plug and go with a different boot. Really frustrating experience.

There was no rigidity to the upper portion of the boot. Once the foot went in the base boot fit in alignment with the sizing. However no matter which lacing method I used the upper portion was not constructed right and flopped over and looked ridiculous. I tried to buy a liner to give it more support but that didnt work. Do not recommend.
