I ordered a half size up from my normal running shoe size and the fit is perfect. Incredibly comfortable and supportive. I am just coming to running after months of dealing with foot injuries and they are seriously perfect. I do not understand the odd color ways. The men's colors are so much better. Altra, just because I identify as female doesn't mean I need pink, lavender and turquoise on my shoes. Please just use primary colors or something.

order a 1/2 size up from your normal shoe size i always run in a 1/2 size up anyway but you'll want to for sure i have metatarsalgia and these are the best things ever for this if you don't need support dont get these and run in the paradigm which is my next go to for cushioning the support is strong but it will break in . the height will change your stride a bit so they take a couple runs to get used to the support and stack height

After great success with the Riveras last year, I went to my local sneaker shop and they recommended trying the Via Olympus on for size. At first I was skeptical: look at the height on these things! But when I tried them on right next to the Riveras, I have to say they felt pretty great. The first time I took them on the road I felt a little wobbly - I was so high off the ground! But after about 0.8miles I settled into the groove. Since then, I've taken these on 8mile runs with no pain. I struggle with IT Band syndrome, and haven't had the twingy pain that often comes with new shoes. I rotate these with my old Riveras and a pair of Topos and find myself readhing for the Via Olympus more often than not. I'll be curious to see how the cushioning holds up: I've only clocked about 30 miles on these so far, but I'm a fan!

Feels roomier than Olympus trails although I like going up half a size in both. The soles are solid for road. Excellent tongue, cushioned and doesn't cut. Upper could use some more stretch.

I was a little apprehensive about the thickness of the sole of the shoe but that is what helps you get great stride motion on walks and cushion for running. The only thing I didn't like is I kind of felt like I kept stubbing my toes when running. For walking these shoes are very comfortable. I would even recommend them for a day at a theme park. They would be amazing

Middle toes go numb because it's too tight across base of toes. Along with a wide toebox, there also needs to be extra height as well.

The heel cup pushes in prior to the arch. Definitely not for my whole foot wideness. Finished some shorter runs without issues. Ran a 10K and ended up with numbness in forefoot and a blister on my heel near my arch.

This Olympus shoe is nothing like my black Olympus shoes . The sole is hard and unforgiving . Seems cheaper made .

Ordered these in the winter and couldn't use them till this spring. I have the Torin 5s and was looking forward to these, but my little toe falls asleep every time I wear them. Want to love them!

These were just not comfortable. Saw fairly good reviews. The vinyl design on the outer toes was not comfortable. I haven bunions and the fabric conformed to them. My physical therapist said that wasn’t good because it meant my toes were being pressed. Overall, a cheaply made unattractive shoe.

I loved wearing the Torin until they changed it to a narrow footbed. After wearing for a bit, they pinch the sides of my feet as they are much narrower. So wanting the original footbed and a cushiony shoe for lots of walking I purchased the Olympus. They are clunkier, chunkier and higher and look like they would be more cushiony but they are not. They feel hard underfoot, so much so that I put gel liners in to add some padding. I love that all Altra's have a great toe box that aligns with your feet but WISH they would bring back more styles in the original footbed!

I like them more than Hoka, but NOT as comfortable as the Altar provision. For my foot the shoe was good for walking but not standing. I'm an X-Ray tech, so I stand in the same spot all day with a little walking. Back to the drawing board looking for the perfect shoe !!

Altra shoes used to fit me well in an 11. The first few pairs made my feet so happy. The last few pair I've bought have been smaller, and I've needed at least an 11.5, but they are hard to find. I wish Altra would quit messing with the sizing and fit as my older running shoes/hiking boots fit me perfectly with my foot arthritis. Now, they are all less comfortable. Please go back to the old sizing and last/foot fit! Also, the quality seems to be falling - the material on the sides of my last pair (Riveras) has started peeling off after about 6 months (and I only use these half the time), the previous pair had pieces of the soles peeling off after 3 months. I walk and work out in them, so it is not terribly hard usage. These are expensive shoes, and should be made better.

I am a dedicated Altra runner. I own an embarrassing number of Altra shoes - road, trail, hiking boots, cross trainers. I have a pair of the Olympus trail shoes and I absolutely LOVE them. The Lone Peaks didn't hold up well after a trail run and they didn't provide enough cushion for my feet. Having loved the trail shoe, I thought the road shoe would be an obvious winner so I bought two pairs during the Black Friday sale. Sadly, I really don't like them. I wanted a highly cushioned shoe because I had a stress fracture earlier in the year. After a shorter run in these, both my feet were numb and they felt admittedly clompy rather than the cushioned steps I'd imagined. I'm sending the one pair I haven't used back. I wanted to get a pair of the paradigm instead since I've had good success with those, but they are no longer on sale and customer service basically told me they couldn't discount them. So I am stuck with one pair I don't like, returning the other pair and despite the thousands I've spent at Altra, customer service offered me no compromise to assist in buying a new shoe, which was a disappointment.

I am so disappointed in this shoe. I tried it on before ordering and the size I tried and ordered seemed fine, but once I got the shoe and had it on for a couple of hours, my feet were hurting. I found out it's because they run a bit short. I would only recommend if you go up 1/2 to 1 full size from your regular running shoe size, so if your foot measures at a 9 go for the 10 or 10-1/2.

I brought the gray and light blue ones. They stain super easy, and I can't get the stain out. The material just hard to get stains out of. I wish I would have gotten the black, or all blue ones.

Wanted to love these but the fit is not the same as Olympus 4 thus they’re not as comfortable. The laces on these are yucky cheap. Need flat laces for better look and closure. Keeping because I need a spare

Ordered these in 6 wide thinking they would fit like the Torin 5. These are too wide in the heel and too narrow in the midfoot, so they cause a cramp after 10 minutes. Wish they were built on the same last as the Torin, but no go.

Pros: Design (why I ordered over Hoka) Provides stability, I noticed a difference in my posture immediately Cons: Most importantly, hard as a rock! Awful, no cushion and my low back hurts constantly. These are not good for wet conditions at all, although I walk on mostly dry.

TIP: For the reasons mentioned below, only purchase running shoes from companies that offer a free trial running period, free shipping and free return shipping (if ordering online). If ordering online, I highly recommend trying on at your local store first. I wear a 6.5, but had to purchase a 7.5. I didn't like the in-store ugly color options, so I ordered the lime green, VIA Olympus directly from Altra. I was excited about the "original" wide toe box, but the first thing I noticed during my in-store try on was that the shoe was very snug/narrow in the metatarsal area. The toe box was fine (probably because I sized up a full size), the heel was too wide, which caused slippage when just walking, and the insole was very hard. I tried on a 6.5 (could not fit at all), a 7 and 7.5. I wore the shoes one time, ran 4-miles, and knew within half a mile that this shoe was NOT for me. The toe box was fine, and I fixed the heel slippage with a runner's knot. However, the insole was so hard and caused so much friction and pain. I could literally feel the left edge of the insole grinding into my foot with each step. Altra needs better colorways like HOKA (I don't wear HOKA, so this is not a shoutout-I just like their color options!), wide widths for the entire forefoot, and a better insole. Zero drop should not mean HARD! Shoes are being returned.

LOVED the extra wide toe box in my old Torin5s. Need to replace them but the Via Olympus is the only model with the Original shape (why?) and it's too narrow! Why change the best part of your brand???

The shoe is cushioned and spacious in the toe box but the heel seemed to push my foot forward so that my toes slide to front edge. Anchoring my heel with the laces helps some but not enough to keep. I love Altra but this shoe was not for me.
