I wear orthotics in my shoes and my right one has a slight heel lift due to a shorter leg. The tongue initially hit my ankle bone awkwardly and was uncomfortable. I moved the laces down and it solved the problem. I think as I break them in the tongue issue is resolving since I've been able to move the lace back up recently. Jury is still out as to whether or not they're as comfortable as previous versions.

Was so jealous that my friend had pink Nikes. But now I have pink Hokas! Fits well as usual. Very happy!

I have used these for walking, running and spin. To be honest, I do not really like these and I have 2 other pairs of Hokas, which I love so so much. These are not even close to the other two pairs (Arahi 6 and Clifton 7, I believe).
1st. These are not comfortable like other designs, like the Arahi 6. These are stiff, and are not comfortable to walk in. The fin on the end hurts my ankle after a while.
2nd - these do not fit like other Hokas. They RUN LARGE, which doesn't make for a comfortable run, as they tend to slide back and forth as I run. I always always wear a 6.5 in Hokas.
3rd - the insoles in these are pretty stiff. the outsole is in fact, plush, which is fine, but it isn't comfortable to wear when walking, as the heel box is lower than the rest of the shoe- yes, you read that correctly.
4th - the tongue also hurts my foot because it sits too high. It chafes when running and is not comfortable.
I am so disappointed. I usually love Hokas. I was invited to a test run and I will not be attending because I am so unsatisfied with this model, and the service I was provided. All things said, I do not recommend these - depending on what you're looking for. I will probably return. I thought about sizing down, but it feels like a waste of money, as they are not comfortable.
I purchased a 6.5 and in Sand. I will probably return these if I still can. It's such a shame because I really wanted to love these. The color is so cute, but the feel...ain't it, guys.

The Clifton 9 felt too oversized for my preference. I didn't like the thickness, and the shoe felt like it ran big compared to the Clifton 8. I was disappointed.

I have tried many different styles of shoes from Hoka; Bondi, Clifton Edge, Clifton 7, Kiwana, Rincon and move and by far the Clifton 9 are my favorite. Love the cushion on the heal, the little bit wider toe area and just the feel overall. They make me feel like I can run for miles. And they work great in the gym too.

I would buy this product again. I wear my new sneakers to my six days a week gym. Helps tremendously on the treadmill. I have a bad back with (titanium rods and a stimulator in my back). No pain while I do 2 miles daily. I'm not quite 80 years old.

I was gifted my first and second pair of these shoes. These are the first I bought on my own and they are worth every cent. They are the comfiest and the most supporting shoe I have ever owned. I walked 18,000 steps in one day and my feet felt wonderful. I don't think I can ever wear another shoe ever again!

Excellent construction for ball of feet, I purchased wide to accommodate bunion and non-union broken toe. However the shoe is a higher profile and chafes my ankle bone. May not be appropriate for women with petite builds.

I've been a Hoka customer for about 3 years now and purchase a new shoe ever 2-3 months. I run about 4-5 times a week in my Hokas. I typically buy the Clifton 8s, but thought I'd try the 9s. I'm not a huge fan - the Clifton 9s hit higher up on my ankle causing chafing because my socks don't go up that high. I also don't feel like the cushioning is as robust as the 8s. Overall, I'm not happy with the purchase.

I have two pairs of Kawanas and I love them. The Cliftons are also great shoes but not for people that need arch support or pronate inwards. I had to return and got y 2nd pair of Kawanas instead since I know those work best.
If you have flat feet or need arch support, these aren't the style for you.
I would recommend for those that don't need the above.

I love these shoes! They were really comfortable right from the box. I used to buy the Bondi walking shoe but it was not available. These are roomy in the toe box, very supportive and I have no blisters! Perfect fit. I will purchase these again. I have very flat feet and these shoes enable me to remain very active.

Compared to the 8 these are less plush and springy in the step, more narrow, and lower in height in the footbed. I have high arches and the top of my foot was constantly rubbing on the top of the shoe and irritating my feet. Feet would be in pain after my shifts, never had this issue with clifton 8

I needed something that had lots of support (plush, like listed). It isn't plush enough for me.

I love HOKA brand shoes. I bought a pair of Clifton 8 in December and they're perfect. I ordered a pair of the Bondi and they curve up too much by the top eyelets and bump into my ankle bone so as much as I like them, they went back. I went back to the Clifton but have the same issue with them in the new model 9 but not quite as bad so I kept them.
I'll try new shoes by HOKA as they come out as they're great!
