I was hoping to use this a duel threat work/ run training shoe. But it misses the mark in midsole performance. Not lively at all. Use it for work. Lots of standing and walking and some running . Had to go to wide ee, has a narrow platform . Wanted to buy a second one to put in easy and long runs but the midsole is underwhelming. Bring Back Clifton 1. Miss that perfect ratio of midsole, weight and comfor to equal performance. Or put in some new midsole tech like the Pebax foam. Clifton 9 does have a good amount of cushion but not any noticeable bounce. I prefer the new balance 1080 v13 fresh foam x . The lighter weight and semi softer bouncier cushion is a winner!

My latest purchase is just not right. The snug fit isn't there and the shoe seems to be breaking down already.

I bought my usual size in this shoe that I wore in the Clifton 8 and they were way WAY too narrow for me feet, even though I usually don't need the wide. So I opted to buy ANOTHER pair with wide sizing and they still feel too narrow. A bit disappointed after spending close to $300 that I now have two pairs of shoes that hurt my feet and not really sure what to do going forward, but the adjustments made between the 8 and 9 just don't align with sizing.

walking. Takes a bit to get used to because they are so much taller than other shoes. You need to size up at least one half size from whatever else you are wearing.

I own several pair of Hoka's, plus my hiking shoes are Hoka, but for some reason this Clifton 9 is not as comfortable as my others.

These caused my ankles to get blistered wearing ankle socks. The structure around the ankle bone is made with a hard material compared to the soft material of the Clifton 8. Very painful.

5th pair of Hooka shoes now in my closet and they are very comfortable for about two weeks then they are as good as any other pair of shoes I've ever worn. The sole wears like any other pair of workout shoes. Not sure why I continue to purchase them, I think it's the initial fit to my foot.

I've had hokas in the past that fit well but these are tigther on the outside of my feet as well as the top of my foot. Hoping its just a breaking in issue but will see. Have felt discomfort after my first 5 runs.

I own several different Hoka Models. I felt like I needed more stability and support, so I tried the Clifton9. While they fit true to size, the footbed instep area was felt a bit too severe for my particular foot. Of course, your feet may relish this much support. Mine did not. Hence, I will return.

Fit and finish of the Clifton 9 are A-OK for me. I've had these for about 5 weeks and currently running 20-24 miles a week on mostly pavement. The treads on the outsole are wearing down too quickly IMHO. I did not notice similar wear with my Bondi 8 shoes. Still, these have been great footwear!

I bought these shoes for general walking around and the occasional trip to the gym although I have specific gym shoes that I usually use. I like the look of the shoe but my feet run a little narrow so the extra wide toe-box is way too big making the shoes less comfortable than my other athletic shoes.

So my first pair of Clifton 9 worked great and are still working great but I bought another pair from the hoka website and after about 3 weeks they started squeaking in the toe box area. The shoes feel totally different from the first pair I bought so I think I may have gotten a defective pair.

I have recently bought Clifton 9 and it was hurting my baby toes. I have bought Clifton shoes since number 5 but the Clifton 9 has changed when it comes to the baby toe area and is narrower than the previous shoes. I bought a wide shoe and it was still hurting my baby toes. I had bought 2 pairs and they both were the same. Now I will have to buy a new style.

I normally do not have to buy wide shoes, however a few days after wearing this pair, I have decided that due to the discomfort I am no longer able to wear them. I have worn them for several days, thinking that they would stretch a little, but unfortunately did not. Due to wear them for a few days I am not sure if I am eligible for an exchange or not! I do love the cushioning and support it provides as I have had multiple knee surgeries, to the point where both knees have total replacements. So finding the right shoe is extremely important and hard to do. Other than the fact they are too tight on the sides of my feet, I love everything else about them. SK

Need size 17 WIDE. The size 17 was too narrow for me. I'm a 6'9 huge frame, heavy boned with a huge tremendous need for a pair of shoes with support to reduce back and knee pain. I loved the support it felt for my feet but not for the sizing part.

I rotate my shoes. 2 weeks in I thought they would be a little bit more comfortable being the purchase price- they aren't.

I was so excited to get a sneaker I could start running in. My new balances were no longer meeting my needs. Someone recommended Hoka and I must have had unrealistic expectations. They are clunky, way too wide, and not good for running.

Shoes are great, very comfy. I have bought several pairs of Cliftons at our local Hoka store. However, this time they did not have the color I wanted so I ordered from the Hoka website. After wearing the shoes once, I noticed a pink mark on the instep of my sock but didn't think much about it. After another wearing my wife asked what were the pink marks on both of my socks so we investigated and found the labels inside the tongue of both shoes had a bright pink marker slash across them that obviously was rubbing off on my socks. I called Hoka and the rep had never heard of that happening. She offered to exchange the shoes but it would take about 10 days. I said I would try to remove the marks and she said if I wanted to keep them she would give 10% off. I scrubbed the marks with rubbing alcohol and got them off to the point no more would come off. I called her back and told her I would keep them and she did give me the 10% off. Still no idea why anyone would put these marks on the shoes, but at least the rep was very helpful and gave me a break on the price. I would definitely buy these shoes again. They are very comfortable. However, if I have to ever have to buy off the website again, I will ask upfront if they have any marker on the tongues. Hopefully, I will be able to go back to getting them at my local store.

Hoka's are great runners, I have several pairs. For some reason the Clifton fits tighter than the Clifton 7 or 8.

Have been running with Nike standard width shoes for past 5 years and wanted to try a show with more cushion and support for longer mileage runs. When I switched to the same size 11 in the Clifton 9 I immediately had issues with toes being cramped and blistering. I switched to the Wide version in same size and have been doing fine since. I just found it odd that I do not require a Wide shoe in any other brand I have worn or wear today.

Really comfortable shoe for walking & running but it is a little too narrow for my feet which cause a little bit of pain on my pinky toe. Hoka's with an option for a wider toe box would convert this product from a 7/10 to a 10/10.

Flat spot in heels. Speed walking at 230 pounds is a bit much for these shoe heels to handle. Sending back. They look really great though.
