The shoe fits nicely and has lots of airflow and a wide toe box. Unfortunately the midsole is quite hard and too firm when walking. It looks like it has a lot of cushioning but the material doesn't give much. Prefer the Adidas Ultraboost or Nike foam products as they have more give and are more comfortable for long periods on my feet.

I was looking for some good walking shoes with support but also a lot of cushioning. After the glowing reviews on CNN, I thought I'd try them out. I walk on a trail for about 4 miles/5 days a week and was having some knee and foot pain from my old Merrills. These are very light, breathe well and have a good cushion. Support is ok. They're good shoes but not really that much better than other cheaper shoes I've tried. If I get the kind of mileage out of them that everyone says, then I'll consider them a worthwhile purchase. If not, then they're basically another overhyped "it" product

First off I received a wide when I ordered regular width. I didn't see it until I already wore the shoes for one shift at work.
It's lightweight but not cushy at all.

My first pair were the Clifton 8 and I loved them. I recently got the Clifton 9 as a gift and am not feeling them. They are bulky and the tongue digs into my ankle. It's uncomfortable to walk and and having trouble even jogging in them. They are light weight and the sole feels wonderful. But the ankle area is making it hard to wear them.

My entire family love the Hoka sneakers. For the first time via mail delivery, one of the sneakers is an irregular fit:(. It is apparent when trying on and when one looks at the sneakers. Supposedly they are both size 13D, however the right sneaker is a much tighter fit and it is smaller than the left sneaker!!

I previously purchased 12 in the Clifton 8 a couple of years ago, and they fit great. However, the Clifton 9 ran small and was exchanged for a 12.5 - stay tuned. I am waiting for the new size to arrive.

I had to return them. I previously wore Clifton 8. I thought 9 would fit the same but was too narrow and tight for my EE feet. Hard to get 8 now. I don’t know what to buy.

Please stick to what customers request if I want regular regular width and that's what I select. Don't give me medium.

This is my first pair of Hokas. I bought wides in the same size I wear in New Balance shoes. The shoes fit pretty well and the cushioning is mostly good. The geometry of the shoe is a bit strange for me. The outer edge of the shoe seems to be more firm than the inner edge. That makes it feel like my feet are not level side to side when walking. This irritates my left knee, which has some meniscus issues. That gives them a qualified approval. I probably will not wear them on my daily hour plus dog walk, but will wear them around the house or for short walks.

I tried the Clifton 9 on at fleet feet but didn't like the color they hadbut the fit was perfectordered directly from Hoka a different color. Shoes came today and they fit totally different and felt super tight and not correct sizing of 15 compared to exact same thing I'd tried on in a store. Returning shoes.

The shoe is correctly sized and is a very nice looking walking shoe. However after four days wearing around the house I developed a bruise on my R big toe inside tip. With my prescription orthotic insert in place the arch apex is overemphasized and positioned many mm forward. This causes the entire plantar fascia to strain excessively. I was impressed that the shoe is 40% lighter than other competitive shoes. For the average person who would wear this shoe without an orthotic insert and just use the stock foam insert that is provided with the shoe, I suspect this would be a very good walking shoe.

First time Hoka buyer. As a bigger adult male (6'1 and 235lbs) I was surprised initially how comfortable the shoes were. But after a week of wearing them for work and doing lots of walking they quickly felt uncomfortable and needed to buy Dr Scholls inserts to add more cushion and comfort.

The arch supports are very pronounced and with flat feet caused lots of pain in that part of my foot.

I ordered the black versions for work because I'm required to wear all black shoes. When they arrived all the accents on the show were a grey and over power the black of the shoe. The images do not represent what you get. Now I have to go in and darken all these area

The toe box on the 9 is noticeably smaller than the eight. Which makes for a less comfortable ride. I hope the Clifton 10 comes out with a slightly wider toe box.

The shoe was ok. Not a huge fan of it but it is comfortable. I'm way more partial to the Mach 5 than the Clifton. It fit well, had a nice step to it, love the color. Nothing bad to say about it but I think I'll stay with the Mach series

These are my third pair of Hokas. The first were a revelation in perfect fit and outstanding comfort so I had no hesitation in buying a second pair later on, sight unseen. They, too, were perfect. Ordering my third pair recently I noted that the model number had changed from Clifton 8 to Clifton 9, but didn't think anything of it until they arrived. However, the side cutaway is higher and stiffer than on previous models and chafed my ankle. It's softened over several short-term wearings, but they don't feel as all-day comfortable as the two previous pairs. I won't buy another pair without trying them on in a store first.

I usually walk every morning 5 to 6 miles. When I first tried them on they felt just right. I walked in them around the house and yes they're very comfortable and sturdy but my issue started when I took them for my usual 5 mile walk at about 2 miles my feet weren't that comfortable and started feel pain on my heels, I personally think feet are not as stable as when doing short walks. I'm returning the Clifton 9, probably exchange and try another model and see how it goes. Size fit it's great true to size. Some said you need to go a whole size up and I did that and when I received my first pair they were huge, I exchanged them for my regular 9.5 and they fit just perfect.

I bought my usual size, however, I had to return them because they were not wide enough. I then received one size larger, and even they are snug, wearable, but snug I've bought several hookers, and I've never had a problem, I'm assuming it's with a Clifton style, disappointing!
