I'm on my feet all day. I was hoping these would've been like the women's. (The woman's felt like I was walking on air) but they don't carry wide width ( EE ) in women's. I was told to buy a men's 7. I did and not happy. But they're better than what I can find for now.

I purchase Hoka because of the unmatched combination of support, light weight and comfort. But the finishing ribbing that runs from the lace area to the inside heel on the Clifton 9 pair I received put pressure on the bottom of my ankle that is painful enough to make me avoid the shoes. Hoping this will dissipate as the shoes - especially the left shoe - "break in " and become more supple.

I bought size 10/regular and they were too tight. It's the size I usually wear. Anyway, I ordered size 10.5/wide and they fit perfectly. Possibly the most comfortable shoe I've owned. I will return the others.

For anyone with feet like mine, my rating would be zero stars. For others it's probably a five-star shoe. 13-wide fit fine except for instep.

I love the look. I bought these because they were intended to be a replacement for my other Clifton 9s. They are taking a while to break in across my instep. I bought longer shoe strings to allow me to loosen up the shoes across my instep. I did not have this issue with my old Clifton 9s. I understand the new Clifton 9s have a thicker sole so that might be pushing my instep a lil higher causing excessive tightness. I wish they came with longer shoe strings (54 inch) so I would not have to buy longer shoe strings. I don't think a wider show is the key because once the material stretches my feet will slush around in the shoe. I will give them a couple more weeks to loosen up before I return them due to instep tightness. I wear them to the gym 5 days a week.

Let me start by saying that my wife is so in love with her Hoka Clifton 9s, that she convinced me to try them myself. She has plantar fasciitis and higher arches than I do, though still considered flat by most standards. On the other hand, I have very flat, wide feet, scar tissue from a Morton's Neuroma, and I've come down from a weight of 305 to 275 and so I have a bit if negative camber. I got the Clifton 9 in size 13 and the top half of the shoe fits quite well. It is wide enough that I didn't have to go up in size to get a good width and not so big I have to cinch the laces too tight. The problem for me is that on bottom, my foot kind of feels like I'm standing on an upside down bowl. It almost feels like I'm being forced to walk on my arches without the side of my foot even touching the ground. I will say, that it typically feels like that if I'm walking a lot and that it's not too bad in my daily routine as an IT support tech that doesn't require a lot of walking around. I just expected them to be for me what they were for others that I asked before jumping into them and I'm a little disappointed.

The outsole is what kills it for me. There is soft foam that will contact the ground. It would get destroyed quickly, and potentially make the shoes look ratty. There are some strange styling choices, like the wing that comes off of the heel cup.

Like others said, it is too narrow for a medium. It's miss-sized. Would have liked to have had this shoe but this is the second Hoka I tried on that is too narrow around the mid area of the foot. I have another pair (Speedgoat) that fit much better as a medium width.

The left toe box was odd to run in, the inside sole of those was bent down on the toe forcing my big toe into the toe box and caused pain. I have been running in Clifton's for a long time and many miles and have never had this problem. It is not present in any other pair of shoes. It seems like there is a manufacturing issue in the left shoe.

I bought these shoes because I have flat feet and my dog and I walk 3/5 miles a day. The first three or four days they were amazing, but I've just started noticing my knee, starting to hurt again, and the shoes feel like they're falling to the inside of the step, which is what all the ASICS and Niecs I've ever had to do. Just wondering if I bought the wrong style of shoe

This is a comfortable shoe - and I love that the 2e wide is offered in some fun colors. But the toe box is still too narrow for my bunion feet. Please offer this (and the speedgoat!) in 4e width. Or offer a wider toebox in the 2e. Right now only the Bondi is offered in 4e in the Hoka line-up....

I wish Hoka would tone down some of the bulky aspects of their shoes. I think they’re comfortable and are an interesting alternative to On Cloud, but the heel pull that sticks way up and the overly bulky soles could be toned down to make a nicer look.

This was to be my second pair Clifton 9 sz 12.5. Well this pair was unbearably tight and I had to return them. The return process was easy, however I have not seen the $ returned to my account. Now that I know there's a store 29 mins from me, I will buy all others locally

They fit and feel great and are very comfortable on my power walks. However they make the most annoying squeeking noise when I walk. My wife and daughter both pointed that out to me. Great shoes but too loud.

I recently purchased my second pair of Hoka Clifton 9's. Whiley they are a comfortable shoe and good for walking, the cushioning and covering do not seem to be of the same quality as my previous pair. I don't know why, but it was noticeable as soon as I put them on. Of course, the price didn't go down.

Really! That offensive bright antifreeze blue is AWFUL. You need someone with taste to find darker shades.

This would have been my third straight pair of Clifton 9's, but I had to return this pair and went with the new Arahi 7. This pair of Clifton's were tight and my feet did not feel comfortable at all. I felt like I was going to sprain my ankle. The Arahi's are really no different than the Clifton's. This pair of Arahi 7's feel the same as my previous two pairs of Clifton 9's. Very sad that this pair of Clifton's did not meet my expectations because I really like the colors. I could have replace with another pair of Clifton 9's but the colors available for my size were not appealing. Overall, I've always like my Clifton's maybe just a bad batch.

Just too unstable. Allows my right foot to pronate so badly that inside of collar digs into my ankle. And entire shoes collapses inward in the rear have tried 2 pair with same results. Have had 25 pairs since starting with version 2 with no problems. Have switched to Arahi model. They are a bit hard on landing but pronation problem solved.
