I very glad they returned to a wider design. Much more comfortable and fit similar to previous trail glove models than last years trail glove 6. Bravo of the changes!

My favorite trail gloves yet. Ive put about 30 miles in them so far. They definitely feel more durable, have a wider toe box, and feel like theres just a little bit more of a cushion compared to the TG6s but still feel very minimalist. They run big compared to the TG6s. I wished I ordered a size down before running in mine.

So glad merrell brought back the wide foot style. This was my main choice of shoe for over a decade. I only gave it 4 stars bc of tread. Its great for trail but not enjoyable to walk in on concrete. I feel every bit of the shoes tread. Sadly will have to find another shoe for long walks on concrete. For purs trail thus shoe is the best.

True to the name fit like a foot glove. As usual a quality shoe. I expect no less from Merrell and they never fail

Great daily sneaker for getting around and light work. Took them for a 2 mile jog. No problem. Took them for a 10 mile hike in east coast Florida with a light pack. Sneaker held up great. I did experience a pretty good hot spot on my right foot and a slight hot spot on my left foot. In my experience trail gloves have been great for anything less than 10 miles. I was curious about this one piece single pattern sole on this new TG. Could possibly be my least favorable sole TGs have offered

I have been Searching for the right fit in a barefoot shoe for disc golf. Played 2 rounds at throw down the mountain in the Merrell trail glove 7, And 1 round in a pair of xero trail. The merrell felt great on the foot. Like a glove. Great traction on the oak leaves. So as for the first 2 rounds I give they 5 stars. As for the Xero trail its a no go for disc golf. Ill give the trail glove 7 a few more rounds and post a better review. My feet were happy!

They have returned to the true "trail glove" similar to the trail glove 4. Thank you. I may change to 5 stars if they hold up well.

Merrel goes back to barefoot basics with the TG7. Wider toe box allows for natural toe splay. Heel is locked firmly in place with no slippage. And best partthey got rid of the arch support! Your arches flex naturally in this shoe. The TG7 sole is too thick and stiff for a true barefoot shoe; but Im willing to trade a little sensitivity for greater sole protection. (Im a weekend warrior with tender feet. I trail run and hike in mountains and hills with lots of sole-bruising rocks and roots on trail.)

The bug problem with these is the sole. It has thin ridges for grip that wore off in less than two months, mostly walking. So the soles are bare rubber in places.

I gave these shoes 5 stars for Comfort and for Style. However, I gave them only 3 stars as Overall for the following reasons: (1) the soles on these shoes are very soft and wear out prematurely. I’ve had them 4 months and the soles already have a bold/flat spot. At current use it looks like the soles have 2 more months of useful life. That’s only 6 months. I don’t walk a lot. I probably only average about 1.5 miles per day. (2) The material is made out of what seems to be perfect for feet odor to develop. I’ve never had issues with this with previous shoes until this pair. I am going to have to try something else for my next pair.

Love the shoe look and design but felt it was too distant from being a true "Barefoot" shoe. Had to return them as toe box was too narrow, unlike the Trail Glove 5, which I loved and still wear, tread is worn out now but great for general use. Admittedly I would have kept these if toe-box was wider and more protected on the large toe joint section. Also a great move to add more protection for base of foot since tread is thicker on the Trail Glove 7. But sadly not going to work for me.

They fit ok. Sizes are big. I wear 11 1/2, I have and extra 1/2 inch in these. There is no grip, but i have been told to give it a longer break in period. Breathes well, my feet do not over heat after a workout. So far, the durability is present. It seems that merrel actually listened to feedback, unlike so many other companies

3 stars feels a little low and maybe I just don’t know what barefoot is all about, but these kind of remind me of a loose sock. They don’t really hold onto my foot enough and the way the sole wraps up over the big toe bugs me because it feels heavy on my toe since the rest of my foot is surrounded by loose and light material. I normally wear an 11 but these were so gigantic in 11 that I almost ordered a 10, but I went with the 10.5. My toe is where I’d want it but I want a shoe to hug my foot a little more. I’m not planning on using these for trail running but if I were I definitely would not want these. I’m going to try the trail glove 6.

Bought these recently. The website says they run small and to order a 1/2 size up, many reviews say the opposite. I wear a size 12 so I contacted Merrell and the customer rep confirmed that they run small and that I should order a 13. I disregarded this advice and ordered true to size. They showed up today and they are enormous. I should have ordered an 11.5 and maybe even an 11. Other than that the shoe feels comfy and would probably be great if it fit.

I've owned at least a dozen pairs of trail gloves from the third gen on. It is my go to running shoe and I always end up returning to it. I appreciate the feel of the 7 from the 6 as it felt like there was more room in the toe box. However, I am profoundly disappointed about the tred and the log of the tread. The tread remains me of the trail glove 4 which seemed to grade off in the trails like a soft cheese. The lug on the trail glove 7 is 2.5 mm from 3mm on the model 6 (that's a 15 percent reduction). Between those two alterations I for the first time tried a competitor. Unfortunately I missed the comfort and minimal, but helpful cushion/stack height of the 7. Now, I'm at a crossroads of weather or not to go with another competitor or buy 7's that become obsolete too quickly. Please know that if the 7's had the lug and tread of the 6 it would be a 5 star shoe. It might last longer but people would buy more pairs of them rather than branching out.

Bottoms wear way too quickly. I've owned 4-7, the 7s are the most comfortable since the 4s but they just simply wear too quickly. I've bought two pairs of them and just felt disappointed they wear so quickly. Really hoping the 8s have a better bottom material.

Beautiful indeed every way, except for the width. It's so narrow that I'd have to cut off a toe for it to fit.

The trail glove has lost its way. It started as a true minimalist shoe. It protected your feet and that's about it. My first pair in 2011 lasted for 6 years, including training for and running a marathon plus 5-6 runs a week. I threw them out once the first hole appeared in the soles. I've purchased four pairs of trail gloves since that pair, each failing much faster and getting more and more bloated. The previous pair I purchased (5th generation) failed in a few months - the upper fabric disintegrated where the shoe flexes after two months of use. This latest pair, that I'm reviewing, is too new to speak to their longevity, but they are the least minimal trail glove I've owned. So far they are a fine shoe, but they aren't a trail glove, they are something else. It's like if Honda put the civic badge on a minivan. It might be a fine vehicle, but it's not what the civic has historically been. If I could go back to 2011 and purchase 10 more pairs of the original trail glove, I would. I doubt merrell will read this, or change anything if they do, but I'd love to see the trail glove find its roots again. If you want a minimalist running shoe with lots of extra fabric and rubber, this is fine, but if you want a true minimalist barefoot shoe, look elsewhere.

Usually Merrell is spot on with their shoe size, but these are a bit bigger in length size creating too much wiggle room for my toes. I wish they'd bring back the suede excursion glove, those were the best.

Well constructed and great looking shoe. The heal lock feature keeps your heel in place and feels great. Just enough cushion to protect your feet, while providing feedback from the ground. The only drawback is the narrow toebox. I am a size 9 and tried both the 9 and 9.5 but the toebox was not wide enough to provide natural movement of my toes. (My feet are not very wide either.) Unfortunately, I will have to go to another company for wider toebox shoes. Merrell team, if you fix the toebox issue, you will dominate the barefoot shoe market. I have seen many reviews on different online platforms and they all say exactly what I am saying. Hopefully, you can include a wider toebox when you design the trail glove 8.

I had high hopes for this iteration of the Trail Glove. The Trail Glove 7 has a the outsole in one piece as opposed to the Trail Glove 6 which has the outsole in multiple pieces of rubber. Unfortunately the treads on the Trail Glove 7 are really flimsy and are falling apart after about 50 miles. In comparison I've had 3 pairs of the Bare Access XTR that lasted over 500 miles I don't think the Trail Glove 7 will last over 100.

I've tried both TG6 and this one, and I have to say I like this one better. However, I have noticed that the outsole doesn't seem to last as long as I would like. Additionally, I found that they run a bit large, so I had to go down half a size to get the right fit. Overall, I think these shoes are good, but I really wish they would bring back TG4. Those were hands down the best shoes I've ever owned.
