Very disappointed in these shoes. I will not buy these again. I wouldnt even call them barefoot shoes. These are nothing like the barefoot shoes, from Merrill, I have loved in the past. I love the vapor glove 5. The Trail Glove 7 has a thick bulky sole and you are not able to feel the road or trail. The Trail Glove 7 is also not flat. They feel like they have a slightly raised heel. Not comfortable.

I bought these to replace new balance minimus. So far so good! I miss the foot hugging of the NB but the difference is minimal. Nice, light, barfoot trail runner. Lots of confidence in the grip. AWFUL ladies' colour choices so I went with men's.

I was surprised how cushioned a minimal shoe from Merrell could be coming from a very early Vapor Glove. This is a positive in my books and reminds me a lot of New Balance's old MINIMUS 10v1, making Trail Glove 7 probably the closest replacement I could find for my beloved out of production shoe.
My biggest complaint is that Trail Glove 7 does not feel zero drop despite advertising as such. It feels like the heel is elevated compared to all my other zero drop shoes. They lack a little structure around the metatarsals giving them a somewhat flimsy or insecure feel unless you crank down the laces. Despite that the back half of the shoe feels well supported and I wish they used more of that material up front. Lastly I'll mention they feel every so slightly hot even with such a meshy construction.
Overall they are fine, a good test pair to see if I they stick long term.

Just a tad bit narrow but overall fits similar to the gen 1. I don't mind the extra padding at the bottom but purchasers should be aware that it's not 100% barefoot. 0 drop benefits are there though. The lugs sometimes flake off 1 whole piece at a time . It would be better if the rubber was stiffer the lugs would chip away instead of peel off after taking damage.

Continues to be a great shoe. The whole concept is just so well thought out and the manifestation is always well built.

An excellent return to form for what I consider to be the best minimalist trail runner on the market. The right shoe in my pair had some extra, loose material in the interior that irritated my arch after several kilometres of running but I was able to easily cut it off, remedying the problem. Easily a 5-star shoe without that minor fit & finish issue.

Ive been running in Trail Glove series shoes since 2011, and this new model of the shoe heralds the very first time Ive experienced extreme discomfort while running in a pair of these once fantastic shoes.
The first thing I noticed is that they run big, so I wore thicker socks, hoping to keep friction to a minimum, but no such luck. They shuffle around on my feet with every step, and dont feel stable at all like my previous TGs, and I now get hot spots within a couple of miles. They dont lace up as well as the older TGs, and the sole is WAY thicker, leaving me sort of bemused as to how they can still call this a barefoot shoe
The previous TG shoes ran true to size, did not move around on your feet, and I never once felt any discomfort, hot spots or blisters even on the longer runs. If I had known these shoes were going to become larger, bulkier and less comfortable, Id have bought five or six pairs of TG 3,4 and 5, which were all far better running shoes than these uncomfortable and clunky things.
Im now headed out to the secondary market to see if I can find some new old stock TGs from the previous generations. If I cant, then its clear that I need to start looking elsewhere for my running shoes, which really leaves me disappointed now.
Ive depended on this model for half my career to carry me through countless physical fitness tests, 5K, 10K and Cola Warrior races, and it darn near breaks my heart to leave them behind.
Go back to the basics, Merrell, and please bring us some real barefoot shoes again!

I have been enjoying the Merrell line of Trail Gloves running shoe ever since its first iteration as simply the Trail Glove. I have seen it evolve through different fabrics, different rubber out-soles with differing configurations of treads and they just keep getting better and better. This latest version, Trail Glove 7 is the best of all, light weight, comfortable, and has the sturdy traction of a mountain goat. I use it for more than just trail running, but also for hiking and cycling on my mountain bike and even trips to town.

Nice but trail glove 6 is better for me. I have 4 pair of 6 ( one pair nearly worn out) These ran a bit longer and wider than the 6s in the same size.. Not sure I could go down one size. Cant get the 7s to fit as well. I run about 15 miles per week.

Usually Merrell is spot on with their shoe size, but these are a bit bigger in length size creating too much wiggle room for my toes. I wish theyd bring back the suede excursion glove, those were the best.

RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX, I wore these shoes to an 3-day music party!
Last weekend, Phish rocked Atlanta and we danced for 3 days straight and my feet never bothered me for a second! I'm a big dude and this is my 3rd pair of Trail Gloves and i'm sure they won't be the last! Super shoes for a reasonable price!
10/10 5-stars!
Would definitely recommend!

Ive been wearing this line exclusively for the last decade because its so hard to find a toe box wide enough for my feet. This iteration has reverted to narrow sizing. Do not buy if youre looking for something wide enough to not bind up your toes.

I bought my first trail gloves in January. Since we have hiked through Maine and Costa Rica. These shoes are extremely comfortable and versatile. I bought an extra pair to use for my dailys now as well.

Take on smell really badly and started balding really quickly but ultimately very comfortable and with a wide enough toe box for anyone.
I have really enjoyed running in these, just wish the treads held up a bit better.

These are great shoes. I took them on a three-day backpack in the Sierras and they did really well. Sole was firm. Toe material was protective. Very light weight. There were three things I do not like about them: (1) not waterproof -- it would be so simple to add this feature; (2) the sidewalls are a little too thin -- did some pretty major bushwhacking and the soles were great but the sidewalls couldn't resist basic thorns; and (3) the insoles do not absorb odor -- I have many pairs of athletic shoes in my closet and I've never had a pair with insoles that smelled as bad as these...and that's after just a weekend of using them.

Comfortable, 1/2 size smaller than normal worked perfectly for me. Perfect gap filler between a typical running shoe and true barefoot shoes. You can feel the ground, but theres enough cushion you could run on hard ground or pavement with little or no training.

Ive found most Merrills Ive bought in the past that I would need to get a half size smaller then what I usually get with other shoe brands, these seem much more accurate to my typical size of 10.5. Toe-box is wider then the last generation too, but theres no slippage that Ive noticed.

Sizing confusion continues with Merrell shoes. The TG7 is certainly better than the TG6, however, there is still too much arch support and cushioning. As others have stated, the TG4 has been the overall best in this line, at least for me. A return to the fit, ground feel and sole flexibility of the TG4 with updated styling and recycled materials would be great for the TG8.
As for sizing, other reviews have said the TG7 run large and runs small. Since there is no consistency in sizing across the TG line. I have compared the TG7 to all my other TG's 3 through 6 as well as to each other. 3 is the shortest, 7 is longest, 4,5 &6 pretty close and 4&5 are what fit me best. With a size 14, I have never had the 1/2 size up or down option. The 7 is too long but I'm afraid to go to a 13. Will it be even shorter than size 14 TG3 (and my early Vapor Glove and VG5) or closer to the 4,5,6? Would love some guidance.

Still love the trail gloves. Many improvements over the previous versions but one large downgrade. The new sole is is too hard. The Trail Glove has lost the "glove" feel now and that was one of the best features. I can no longer really feel the trail bumps, etc. with my feet like I used to be able to.
