Very poor quality. I had an L.L. Bean flannel robe for years that I loved until I finally wore it out. I ordered this robe as a replacement. I was very disappointed when it arrived. The flannel was thin and the stitching was substandard. I returned it the same day. I have purchased goods from Bean for 50+years and this is the poorest quality product I have ever received. The company needs to return to the quality that established the reputation they have had in the past. Good quality at a fair price.

Thin fabric for a flannel, ok for Summer maybe. The sleeve and bicep area are not roomy at all and fit more snuggly than I like, someone with larger diameter arms would find this a tight fit. I had an expectation that LL Bean flannel would be more substantial but this item felt cheap and flimsy for the price, I can get one of this quality at a discount retailer for less money. The heritage flannel sheets I bought were much heavier fabric weight, the description for these robes should include fabric weight like the flannel sheets description.

These robes used to be awesome, but I think they use cheaper flannel now. First one lasted forever. The elbow of the second tore after a little over a year, no heavy use, just wearing around the house. Exact same just happened to the third after about the same time period. At this price and with occasional wear, I think they should last longer.

I have purchased 2 Black Watch Tartan flannel robes from L. L. Bean. Both robes ripped at the elbows after normal to moderate use.The fabric is very thin and does not wear well at all. I also purchased a Gray Stewart flannel robe which is made with a heavier grade flannel fabric. This robe has worn extremely well. When I contacted L. L. Bean with a request for an exchange their response was a firm no since the robes (the ones that ripped as well as the one that has worn well) were purchased outside of their new 1 year customer satisfaction warranty. The ripped robes was considered "normal wear and tear." Normal wear and tear for flimsy fabric, perhaps. Not worth the high price tag. It used to be that L. L. Bean stood by their products and their customers. Too bad quality and customer service has gone down hill.

For a "flannel"'material robe, this item was far too thin and flimsy even for CA winter. I was disappointed with the material used for the robe although the color was perfect; it was definitely not warm enough in cold winter evenings, and I returned it to LL Bean. Sorry!

This Flannel may be an unsuitable fabric for Bean's bath robe. My Unlined Scottish Plaid Flannel robe opened large holes at the elbows and then continued all the way to wrists. Despite originating from Portugal. the material must have followed LLBean specifications, but the trouble is the robe is PAPER THIN. So the Portuguese are not at fault. I was not offered a replacement, even when the original was purchased before 2018 (the year that Bean chose one year as Warranty cut-off). By the time the tax is added, the robe costs about $100 but is definitely not worth $100, even in 2021. There are other Reviews relating similar objections of inferior flannel quality, but these flannel robes continue to be offered for sale. I would have thought Bean would have changed their manufacturing specifications or strengthened the weaknesses in the robe by doubling the thickness in the arms and elbows. Apparently, LLBean is confident their reputation continues to rise above inferior quality. I won't waste another $100 on an LLBean Paper-Thin Flannel Bath Robe.

I mistakenly believed buying an LLBEAN product would assure me of some level of quality. This robe has not held up after a few months of light use. The edges of the sleeves are already very pilled. It has only been washed once or twice. I will not make this mistake again. Review after review warned that Bean products were no longer a guarantee of quality because they are cheaply produced elsewhere. Done.

I have been buying Bean's solid color flannel bathrobes for my husband for decades. They had a luxuriously thick cotton fabric. I opened the package for his birthday tomorrow but alas! The thin fabric bears no resemblance to all the other bathrobes.

In my 87 years and a big fan of Bean in the past have neve seen such a poor quality robe . Bean would roll over in his grave if he new current folks were selling this lint producing. flimsy imitation of a robe. Sent it back after 1 wash when it filled up my lint trap to overflowing. And to think Bean charges to return!!!!!

Flimsy Robe. Not worth the nearly $70.00. Lost an enormous amount as lint after washing it per instructions. Disappointed in an LL Bean product. Will return ASAP

Immediately out of its shipping plastic, I donned the robe in front of the bathroom vanity mirror. After checking various angles, I realized that I could look inside the robe, and through the robe, toward the white basin counter, and see light reflected from the countertop through the robe to my eyes. I could see *through* the robe. It is that thin; the material is that lightweight. Not acceptable. No. Just no. I have dress shirts that are less light porous and made of more substantial material. They serve their function quite well, but a bathrobe, which should be thick, absorbent, warm, and substantial, may not also be made of see-through material. This item must be returned.

I had a previous version of this robe for several years and it wore out at the elbows. The new one I ordered was MUCH lighter fabric (17 oz vs 26.5 oz) and did not withstand washing well. I was very disappointed in the quality of materials used to make this robe. Not what I expected from L.L.Bean.

I ordered a "tall" size because I wanted the robe to extend well past my knees. But when I received the item, the tall size seemed just as long as my wife's regular sized robe. however there was a lot of extra fabric that I had to wrap around my body. As a result the robe fits too loose on me and opens up in the front after a few minutes of wear. It is also unweildy to manage all the fabric. The robe is very comfortable and looks good. I am just taking the hit and re-purchasing a regular sized robe. I really wish I knew that "tall" means extra large waist size. The posted information in the sizing chart does not indicate this.

Very disappointed in this flannel robe. The fabric was very thin and not what I would expect from a flannel robe. I sent it back and did not request an exchange of any kind.

Totally shocked when a 'small' package arrived for a large men's robe. I thought at first I got the wrong order - but, there it was, the thinnest so called robe I've every seen! I was not expecting this from LL Bean, maybe a low-end retailer. When you think of a plaid men's robe, you think warmth and weighted and not a oversized t-shirt. Needless to say it was returned and yes, expecting a full refund, even for the return fee of $6.50 (BTW, great customer service - thank you!).

I bought this robe as a present for my husband. I am very disappointed at the bad quality, it is so flimsy, it is almost transparent. After one wash it looked like it had been worn for years. No, I do not recommend this product.

I was very disappointed in this robe. I was looking for something to put on right as I hopped out of bed to keep me warm in the mornings. When it first arrived, I thought it felt awfully thin, and the construction wasn't great, so I kept the tags on. You can actually see light clear through it--it's a very thin weave. It's unlined, full of loose threads, not the quality I would expect for the price point (or from LL Bean!). But, I thought appearances could be deceiving. Nope! I put it on over my pajamas, and I was still shivering. And I'm in the southern US, so it's not even that cold! The fit was fine. It was big on me, but I'm a short woman, so that was the plan. If you aren't looking for something warm or thick, then I guess this could still work for you. But I was expecting a thick, hearty flannel, and this just isn't it. I'm glad I trusted my gut and kept the tags on until I tried it in action.

The robe is barely acceptable, but the belt is just plain ol' a piece of folding, crumbling piece of ?! You don't want to wash this thing and try to make any sense of putting the belt back on! Buy something else.

Like some other reviewers, I ordered this to replace a Beans robe that was at least 12 years old. Big mistake! This one is so thin, it is only good for a very hot morning; even then, it is flimsy thin. I didn't bother trying it on. Just horrible. I will be returning it pronto. I did order the chamois robe. Hopefully, that will be of decent quality. The quality of Beans merchandise has steadily declined over the years. Too bad.
