This is a terrific garment. When I went to look at one last fall, my LLBean store didn't have any in stock. Not a total loss - I saw one of their colder weather vests and bought that. But I knew I wanted to try this one too. It's very comfortable. Not bulky at all. The XL is a little bit larger than I thought it would be, but I like the slightly looser fit. The zipper pocket on the chest is very handy, and the hand-warmer pockets feel great. I've only had the opportunity to wear it a few times, but the weather is warming up now and I expect to use it a lot until the weather gets too warm. I'll be back at it next fall. I was torn between the grey and the "olive" one. They both look terrific, but I went grey and am very happy. My love for LLBean outerwear continues.

I like this vest for looks & comfort. Fits well & has a top pocket for my phone.

I got these for xmas for my boyfriend and my dad. They are both obsessed with them and asked for more colors. My boyfriend is 5'9 175lbs and got a medium and he loves to wear it over a button up shirt to work. He says it's so comfortable. My dad got an xxl and always throws it on over his jacket or pullover when he leaves the house. It's funny how they wear them in different ways but they both say it's just the right layer to keep the chill out of your core on a cold day. I didn't think either of them would be wearing them more than once a week but they do. I guess it's an awesome piece to have.

I got this for my husband for his birthday. He generally needs a size XL or L tall...Bean sizes are huge so the size L fits him perfectly. He wears it over shirts to work all the time. Great gift!

My wife ordered this vest for me thinking it was like the many fleece vests I have worn for years. I didn't want a "sweater". When it arrived I tried it on and loved it. It is now my "dress" vest and have worn it to go out to dinner and family functions. It is also amazingly warm!! Will get another one if they are on sale!!! Wear it almost all the time now.

It fits well and very comfortable. Color is great. One suggestion: It would improve function if the zipper is designed to double directions: up and down.

A very smart looking vest. Seems to be a much higher quality fleece vest than most. Very ample pockets with good solid zippers. Very comfortable fit. I give this item a buy, by all means. bye now

Very happy with this vest. It is so well made and fits perfectly. It is a little heavier than some fleece vests in the past so keeps you warmer.

I ordered this for my husband and he loves it. It is lightweight yet keeps him warm. He is short but the length is perfect for him. (The height & weight indicated in this review are his) He loves the vest as it's much less restraining than a jacket with sleeves and he layers as needed, depending on the weather. He wants me to order it in blue for him, too! I'm going to do that right now!!

I bought this for a Valentines Day present for "my guy"; he LOVED it! Fit, texture and appearance were a perfect hit!

I love the vest. It is just the right weight and the workmanship is outstanding. I wish I had purchased it a long time ago. I like the freedom of movement it gives me when wearing it over a warm sweater in medium cold weather. The grey heather is very attractive. A little pricey? yes, but you get what you pay for.

Comfortable! Washes great. Finally bought a men's as I wanted the upper pocket. I had been wearing my husbands' because I couldn't find one in women's. Heads up! Women like those upper pockets too. Highly recommend this vest.

This was a gift to my son and he is very happy with it. He especially likes the chest pocket for his glasses and/or keys. Guessed at his weight, but the fit was perfect and this is just right for being outside without a bulky jacket or wearing in very cold weather under a jacket.

I have been looking for something to wear in the office in the winter in central Massachusetts. I have tried sweaters, sports coats, heavy shirts, but always ended up cold. This does the trick! It is warm, stylish, and even looks great with a tie! Even though it is a vest, it keeps me warm throughout the day! Thanks, LL Bean!

I was a little worried based on some of the other reviews, however I can report that this vest fits great and is quite warm. I am so glad I ordered a Large. But, knowing how Bean products have started to slip in quality and consistency over the past few years it pays to read these reviews.

Unrestricted comfort without bulk perhaps best describes this vest. It layers well. Has become my everyday winter wear.

The vest is great looking, very versatile for warmth and fashion. It can be worn with flannel and jeans or khaki and plaid. Good buy.

Excellent fit, good workmanship, and color attractive

Quality made. I like the feel of the material and the gray is perfect for almost any color. Can't think of anything I'd change about this.

Great vest, great quality.

Vest fit true to size unlike some vests that are cut narrow. Only suggestion would be a thick zipper instead of the thinner zipper which tends to fail.

Great for layering under jackets and light coats. Great appearance. Love the chest pocket for carrying my phone. Will get another when available.

Bought this in blue for my son, along with the grey sweater fleece jacket. Wasn't sure he would like it because he is very particular about fit. (I sent the receipt along with the package so he could return it.) Well, he has had one or both pieces on every time I have seen him. He tells me he wears it for work and play and loves the fit, warmth, and the pockets...especially the secure pockets for his subway commutes. I have since ordered one in the pumpkin color for myself, which I enjoy very much on my daily walks in the woods. So from New York City to the Adirondacks of Upstate NY, this is a perfect vest.
