I ordered this for a late March/early April hiking trip to Colorado, and it was perfect. It was just right for weather ranging from mid-30s in Rocky Mtn. National Park (wore a flannel shirt underneath) to low 60s in Red Rocks (with just a t-shirt). The hood provides plenty of coverage in rain, and the quilted insulation is warm but lightweight. It was easily packable to fit in a carry-on bag. I especially love the front pouch pocket, which made it so I didn't need a fanny pack on hikes. The color (green) is very nice, and the sizing was accurate. Although I originally ordered this just for hiking, it's now the jacket I grab every time I walk out the door. This was a great purchase!

I came to see if L.L.Bean had any new colors - and they do!! This is the best jacket I have ever skied in. I didn't originally buy it for skiing, but love it for that, along with its being an easy, packable warm everyday jacket. I've been skiing for almost 50 years. I bought it big so I can wear layers under it, or not. On warm days I'll wear just this jacket over a turtleneck. When it's cold like it was in Colorado two weeks ago, around 0 with strong winds at the peaks, I had long underwear, turtleneck, fleece, and down sweater under it. I was very comfortable. It's water resistant so I stayed dry even though it was snowing all week. I love the big front pocket for carrying snacks and a small water bottle. The hood fits over my helmet. I just wanted a different color. The black is great but everybody wears black...
If I was just going to wear it as an everyday jacket without so many layers, I would get the large or maybe even the medium.
Also - I have the uninsulated version that I always travel with!

I am very pleased with the insulated anorak. I have used it while snowshoeing and xc skiing. It is warm, and I love the pockets. Roomy enough for a phone, keys, gloves. I would say it runs true to size. For reference, I am 5'3" and ordered a regular XS.

Love this SO much. I sized up (L) so I could layer underneath for colder temperatures but it's not so huge that I can't just wear it on its own with a t-shirt underneath in warmer temperatures. So excited to have this this spring!

This is a nice jacket; good weight; warm even though it is not that heavy. I would say it runs a little big. It is tricky to get off smoothly, but that is to be expected with an anorak. I love the navy blue!

Ive had my anorak since 1994 and can't part with it. It is in perfect shape, and I've worn it every winter. I've looked for a new one, but I couldn't find a solid color until this jacket. I always buy a size bigger bc I like this jacket loose. I ordered a 1x and it's loose, but a little snug so definitely buy a size up. My favorite thing about these jackets is they slip over like a sweatshirt, they're really light, but very warm (I was outside yesterday 18 degrees and severe snow squalls, high winds, and all I had on was a T-shirt under jacket). I put my iPhone, credit cards and keys in the front pocket with lots of spare room. I love it so much I bought the green in case I can't find them again. I might even buy the black.

I absolutely LOVE this little jacket. I wear it all the time! I love the pouch that opens from the top because I can just pop whatever I need in there and leave a purse behind. The hood is a good, large hood so it doesn't fall off your head. I'm 5'4" and 170lbs (thanks COVID) and ordered a large to be able to wear sweaters underneath it. This is not a winter weather jacket by itself, but it'll be perfect for fall and spring. It covers my butt too, making it the perfect light jacket.

Love it! Wore this to the Washington State Coastal beaches in January while clam digging. Kept me very warm and dry! The pockets are huge and the fit is true to size. The hood drawstrings cinch up perfectly to keep my face warm while still being able to see. And it suits my style, wearing boots and jeans.

Love it! Warm, versatile, layers well. I live in Wisconsin, but I'm from New Hampshire. I know cold, and this anorak is a fantastic piece! This winter, I've used it as a layer under my down parka but I can also see myself using it for camping or spring/fall walks by Lake Michigan. Super pleased, would purchase again. (FYI - I'm 5'9, about 140lbs and I ordered a small, fits like a dream, could easily fit a flannel or heavier long sleeve/light sweater underneath).

This jacket is super warm without the weight and bulk of a sweatshirt. The material protects you from wind and I find that on most Maine winter days, I can wear this as my layer of warmth and be perfectly comfortable.

I purchased an Anorak about 15 yrs ago and I wore it out. I do a lot of outdoor activities with my dogs so I ordered this one and love it. Lightweight yet warm when I am outside in the New England cold. Not as warm as the previous one but I just wear more layers.

I love this jacket! It's perfect for layering with light layers and blocks the wind nicely. I'm 5"2 and wear a size 8-10 pant, M-L shirt. I ordered the petite medium and it fits well, enough room for light layering underneath, but nothing bulky. If you plan to wear it with bulky layers underneath, I'd probably size up. This is a good investment and I've thought about buying another one - they will last forever!

I bought insulated anoraks when Bean first sold them. Really prefer the original to the new one, but it's better than nothing. I love anoraks, have 4 or 5 uninsulated ones and got the (yuck) brown one that came back a few years ago. I'd love a dark, forest green one with just a tad more insulation. The fit is great and this new type hood is pretty awesome. Had to put a tab on the back to keep it high enough to see when I don't have to fight the wind. Love, love, love insulated (AND uninsulated) anoraks from LLBean!
