I liked the beige jacket, it fit well except for the sleeves, which were much (2") too long. I am tall with longish arms, and never had this problem. Also, I prefer a collar that can stand up, which this did not. The zipper plus snaps are a good idea, so you can choose based on conditions.

I debated buying this jacket for a while. I was trying to weigh the cost against some of those drawbacks listed in other reviews... BUT I'm so glad I got this! I was looking for a good every day work/weekend coat for mid-Atlantic winters. It really blocks wind. I'm about 144lb and 5'6" with a pear shape and the small fits perfectly. Fitted, but room for a thicker sweater. I wouldn't say it's appropriate for harsh winters, but I've worn it on days in the 20s or 30s.
I gave this 4 stars because of two things. It came with a few unfinished threads (not cut after manufacturing). Additionally, the dual zipper (top, flimsy one) is completely superfluous; I never use it. If I want to close the coat partially, I just use the snaps. Also, to the complaints about shoulder tightness... I find this coat comfortable for every day driving and slight lifting. I don't have the full range of motion, but that's what you get with a tailored coat rather than a heavy-weight fleece. Overall, I love it and I'm glad I went for it!

This could almost be two reviews. I love this coat, it not only keeps me warm on these CT Fall days, but I think I look smart, and put together, while wearing it. The back details are cute, too. I really love it!
Now, the problem...the zipper for zipping up the coat, is tiny! It's got the double zipper so that you can open it from the bottom, and so you have to try to get the tab on the one side, into the slots, while this tiny zipper handle is flopping around!
There are times I can zip it in a breeze, but other times I look like a child, trying to get it zipped! In this day and age, and for such a quality jacket, one would think that a more substantial zipper would have been used.
Also, the snaps were extremely tight, felt like I might tear the coat, trying to undo them. They are getting easier to do, with time.
So in a nutshell, good looking, quality jacket, with snaps and zipper that make me all thumbs, at times.

I live in Maine, and was shopping for a jacket that fit the following criteria: would work for the fall and spring, would go with almost everything in my closet, and both comfortable and stylish. This is the jacket that best fit those requirements, and it is a classic style so it will stay in style for years. I am about to turn 30, and wanted something polished and ladylike while also being suitable for my casual lifestyle.
I'm a size 12 on the bottom, 10 on the top and purchased a Medium Petite. I like that this style goes in at the waist and out over the hips so it is flattering for hourglass or pear-shaped figures. The one thing that really surprised me is that I am 5'5" and have never purchased petite clothes before, but the petite jacket fit me best. The regular one had long arms (though you can fold them up), fell at an unflattering place across my rear end, and had a lot of extra room in the armpit area. The petite fits me quite well, though if I could make one adjustment to the jacket it would be a better fit under the arms and in the shoulders-- somehow the proportions are just slightly off, but not enough to be a real problem.
Definitely recommend this if you are looking for a classy, feminine jacket that is appropriate to wear just about anywhere--apple picking, a fall stroll, work, church, or wherever you might be going! If you are on the fence about what color to buy and want something that will go with everything, I would recommend the Black or Ivy. I chose Black because it is easiest to wear with a dressier outfit if necessary.

Decided to return though because I didn't like the snaps showing on the back. (to adjust the width.)

This jacket isn't as substantial as I'm used to from ll bean products. In fact this one feels flimsy. The zipper is sticky. And to truly be labeled a riding jacket it requires some sort of split in the back to accommodate sitting in a saddle. I know as I ride. Otherwise jacket is soft and looks good on. But.... not for this price.

This is just too lightweight. It looks good, but that's about it. Just not the quality I thought I would get from LL Bean.

Had high hopes for this jacket since they actually offer petite, but the sleeves were way too long, and upper back/shoulders were tight, but body was almost too oversized. Color was also very light green for "deep olive" so overall didn't work for me

This jacket is very good looking and well made. However, the fit is much more fitted than the description reads. There is nothing relaxed about the fitting. I

Petite medium did nothing for me. Pretty boxy not as classy as I wanted. Returned

I'm still on the fence about sending this jacket back. The one weak point is the zipper. Others have mentioned it in their review. It's a bit flimsy when attaching. If not for the fact that the jacket also has snaps, I would have already sent it back. The shoulders are narrow if wearing layers. It's light weight, nice for fall days here in the Finger Lakes region of NYS. I have the predecessor to this jacket. Aside from being a 1 1/2 inches shorter it is better made.

At first I was disappointed the lining is not flannel (it looks like it should be) but I realized I like the light weight and it is wind and water resistant. But one thing I can't stand, almost to the point of returning it, is the zipper is on the wrong side! I checked it against every other jacket or coat I have and they all have the pull tab on the right. This one has the pull tab on the left. In addition, it's got the bottom of the zipper that can unzip "up" which always makes it a little harder to handle. On a short jacket, I don't know why you need that. Anyway, it has snaps so I have just been using the snaps because the zipper is virtually impossible to use. Otherwise I really like it and I got it on sale so I am going to keep it.

The jacket is an overall good quality product but I have had two instances of the zipper sticking and separating the sides of the jacket when trying to zip it up. It is just not an easy zipper to use.

I like the color and fit of the jacket. However, I wish it did not have the double zipper. It is hard to get the zipper started and never goes right. I use the snaps and disregard the zipper.

I bought this jacket in March 2022 and have used it a lot. The zipper just came off in the wash. It is defective and I will return it.

I have been looking at this jacket for quite some time, waiting for it to go on sale. The sale, combined with my Bean Bucks was incentive enough for me to buy it. This jacket was to replace the original jacket Quilted Riding Jacket that I had for many years but was now worn out. Although the jacket did not have the same lining as the original (a Burberry dupe) and now had a zipper in addition to snaps, I purchased it. I did like the original lining much better. I received this new jacket and was somewhat disappointed to see that, in my opinion, the quality was just not as good as the original. It is a thinner material and a much lighter feel. The most troublesome aspect, however, is the zipper. As other reviewers have noted, it easily snags and although it is a two-way zipper which I usually like, if one is not careful it separates and is difficult to get back together. Hence, I often do not even use the zipper and will only snap it. The fit is good. I'm 5'5" and weigh 138 lbs. and ordered a medium. Once the sleeves are cuffed (which they should be to show the lining), the arm length is perfect. The jacket is roomy enough to wear a sweater underneath. I have no complaints about the comfort or wearability of the jacket. It is a good spring jacket, but I wouldn't wear it if the temperature was under 50 degrees. Overall, I like the jacket despite these few flaws, and I'm glad I purchased it.

I am a certified X-large. I am 5'11", 190 lbs, and busty. This jacket was well made, and just the color I was looking for (golden), trouble is, it fit well everywhere except for the chest. Too tight. Has llbean forgotten that women have breasts? I have had men's coats that gave me more room up top. I recommend it only if you are flat-chested.

I bought this about a month ago - love the jacket, hate the zipper. Thank goodness it has buttons otherwise I would have returned the jacket. The jacket has 2 zippers, bottom zipper has a big tab to grab, the zipper above it has a dainty tab to grab which is pretty to look at but not practical - hard to get the 2 zippers lines up precisely in order to zip it.

I've shopped at LL Bean for 40 years and I was so hoping this jacket would live up to the quality of past purchases. It is well made, love the navy color and details of the jacket. Unfortunately, it's very thin, the zipper is horrible, and it's snug around the shoulders. I've never had that problem before. Still debating about keeping it.

I bought this jacket to replace the one I've had and loved for several years, because the old one's snaps were no longer holding. It looks like my old coat, but the new one has some changes that I definitely don't like! First of all, the cut is slightly snugger, with shorter sleeves, which doesn't allow much room for a sweater underneath. The jacket is VERY thin, and not as warm as my old coat. The color is supposed to be black, but it looks like a dark navy blue next to my black pants. And I can already tell that these snaps aren't going to hold up for long! I prefer to use the snaps, so the zipper doesn't catch on my sweaters.
I'm really disappointed! This has been my go-to fall and winter jacket for years, and I've always received many compliments on it. What has happened to llbean quality?!

The jacket was too small. My hands just about fit in the pockets. Definitely not a tough farm jacket. I returned it

If the snaps had no writing on them, and if a solid color slick lining were available, I would give this jacket five stars. I have not yet worn it or tried it for warmth in cool weather, but I am trying to alter the snaps which advertise the company, a cheapening factor in any garment from any maker in my book. Everything else is five star about this jacket, so far in too warm of weather to wear yet. I would like it with a solid black lining, too, and with solid black enamel covering on the snaps. The plaid is lovely but limits where and with what I can wear it. I hope it will be warm enough when Fall weather arrives.

This jacket has a nice fit, very comfortable but I thought it would be warmer, it's more of a lightweight jacket and my only complaint is the zipper can be difficult
