I love these shorts and wear them all the time in both Florida in winter and NY State in summer. I have all the colors and they are all nice, but the fabric in the Flint color is different and the hems wrinkle badly so that they do not lie flat unless you want to iron them, which I don't, so I ended up sending just the two I had in this color back to Bean's. I loved the color, but they are not practical since they look bad with such wrinkled up hems. I thought the length of these shorts would be too long without rolling them up, but I actually like the length unrolled, and they are not too hot even in hot weather. When they are rolled and snapped, they rub the inside of my legs if I walk very far or fast, so they are more comfortable unrolled to me.

I like the inseam length, and the fabric is very practical and washes well. No shrinkage. Very presentable and comfortable. Casual style, hold up well under pretty heavy work conditions, like gardening, scrubbing water troughs, etc. Great for hiking. They ride a bit low on the hips, rise is low, so you may find yourself tugging these up every so often because the waistband will find its way just beneath any extra belly fat! In general, very pleased with my purchases.

I have purchased a LOT of clothes at LLB over the years and I've notices that gradually the sizes are getting larger. I have worn a size SM for years but when I measured the waistband on this item it was a Full Inch larger than my other shorts!! The "small" seems to have morphed into a "medium"...Love the material, waistband construction, and side pockets :) I am ordering an XS instead and returning these. The legs are a bit roomy but I like mine that way for boating and hiking!

Comfortable and practical for hot summer days. Very quick drying. I'm probably going to purchase another pair so I can just switch off!!

These run kinda large. Maybe if I took the time to exchange them I would find a smaller size more flattering. The front part, under the drawstring, is poofy. I wanted them for working outside and these are good enough for that. They make some noise when you walk but not too bad. Love it that there are real functioning pockets in women's clothes from LLBean.

I really like these shorts and went by the size chart, it is way off and the size L therefore is too big form me. Reordered size M, we will see when I get them? I am small frame/small rear end/hardly any hips. Quality is good, nice khaki color.

I am quite petite and need shorts that fit well at around 7". These shorts are both comfortable and look good rolled to 7". I bought a size small and while I have not washed them yet I have tried them on, liked the way they fit and bought two pair.

Overall, these are a solid, comfortable and breathable short, with a nice length. I am 5'4" and these just cap my knees. However, the flat waistband has gathers underneath it that create an annoying little pooch both in front and back. They are also quite large, especially in the waist, so cinching the drawstring exacerbates the poochy waist fabric. I normally wear a 10-12 in shorts but will be exchanging for a medium in hopes it helps reduce the gathered pooch effect. Yes, as with most LL Bean clothing now, these are very much overpriced.

I like the fabric and the fabric a lot. I don't like the drawstring waist. I can't really get it tight enough. I'm wearing them, but wishing they had elastic waist. I would recommend them for everything else. I had them hemmed as I'm a shortie. 5"

I have worn these for about 3 or 4 years previous to this year. They have been great. They wear good and the colors are nice. Great for the gym or outdoors or running errands in the summer. The length is perfect. However this year I ordered my usual size and they were just way too big. Too wide all over. What a shame. I'm sending them back.

Pro's: 98% cotton, they appear to be well made, adjustable length
Con's: High price, Fit is wonky--a bit short in the crotch and the legs are super-wide.
I'm keeping them, but for the price I expected better. I have much better fitting and looking shorts that I paid half as much for as I paid for these. For size reference, I am 5'7" and between 135-140 lbs. I bought a medium...if I were to purchase again, I would buy a large.

I have two pairs of these shorts from previous years and I love the loose crinkled fit. However, the green I just purchased in XS runs much smaller and fits way lower at the waist.

Different (not as flattering) fit and needs ironing, not like last year's make. Disappointed it didn't live up to last year's fit and feel.

I've had several of these. Also the pants and fleece lined pants. I used to wear shorts for walking dogs at the shelter. I can't do that anymore and find these messy looking for everyday wear. The seams have shrunken and I actually have had to iron them due to wrinkles. I can't deal with ironing summer shorts. I have donated them to a thrift store.

Fabric is lovely and shorts are well made but the legs were too big for me and I returned it for the camp vista shorts.

Wanted to love them I'm sure perfect for some they just won't stay up for me, constantly pulling them up the tie waist doesn't help. Maybe it's a little extra in the caboose issue.

Shorts look messy rolled up and snapped. Had them shortened - expensive - and they look much better.

I bought a pair of these shorts late last year (sale color). I had worn and washed them according to care directions previously but today the drawstring got caught in part of the drier. I had a similar thing happen with a pair of lined Vista Camp Pants, only the drawstring got tangled up with another piece of clothing. In both instances I've had to cut the drawstring, leaving one side shorter than the other possibly allowing it to disappear into the waistband. In my opinion, the drying directions should be to hang to dry any item that has these drawstrings.

I usually love these shorts. My go to in the hot summer. I have three pairs, one in sandbar and two of the dark taupe in XS. I purchase an XS in sandbar and it was so much bigger than the others. I should have sent them back for a return but washed them a few times thinking they might shrink up a bit but they didn't. I will order another pair and hope I just received a mislabeled size.

Purchased a blue and a tan pair 2 years ago. After washing whether machine or line dried, the unrolled cuffs look like wrinkled paper bags. Ironing helps, but not much. Who irons their shorts? The fabric wrinkles when folded and they then need ironing again. Waist band and fabric are very soft and comfortable so I kept the shorts anyway.
