Small pocket opening. Difficult to get hands inside. Fit is a little big.

These short fit and look well. The problem that I have is with the waist band. There are buttons on the inside to tighten/loosen the waist band. It's fine for a couple of hours but I found them irritating after a long day of hiking

I found this short to run snug in the waist & very baggy through the hips & legs.

Fit my waist, but too tight in hips. I can't figure out LLB sizing for bottoms. I use the chart and it never works. For reference, I wear size 4 jeans and shorts/skorts from similar retailers. Slightly curvy cut almost always works for me. Based on that, I'd says these shorts are more straight cut - but that does not translate to other LLB shorts that fit me like a very curvy (baggy hips). Very confusing. Fabric on these is light as air. In fact, it's so light that I wondered about durability, but it's not an issue for me since I had to return them because of fit. Sadly searching elsewhere for shorts/skorts.

I wore these at a lake and sat on a picnic table the butt area is pulled out like pilling on the fabric. I like the shorts but the looks are not so good now. They fit well and are comfortable. I cant get a picture in to let you see it. sorry.

The size and fit were fine. However, it wasn't what I wanted. I should have read the description better before ordering. I wanted a good pair of cotton shorts. These were nylon and did not fit into my life style. I returned them to LL Bean immediately. If these are the shorts you're looking for, the fit was excellent. I felt bad they didn't work for me.

Good - Fit was true to size. Length was what I was looking for. Very nice fabric. Bad - The legs were too wide, straight cut. I prefer a slightly tapered fit toward the knee. Sadly, they are going back.

I had to size down. My regular size 12 was so big that they were falling down. Size 10 fit fine. I liked the style and all the pockets, material is very lightweight and cool.I will not purchase again because of the material developing snags after wearing a few times. Dissatisfied with this product.

I love the style and fit of these shorts. Perfect for hiking, walking, biking, etc. But I was really disappointed that the fabric pilled in spots after the very FIRST wash. The shorts were not inexpensive so would not have expected this. I hope these shorts last a few wears and washes before they look too worn and old to wear.

The fabric dries quickly, but is so lightweight it provides no protection from brush and sticks to sweaty legs.

First I bought a size 8, my usual size. They were way too large so I exchanged for a 6. They fit ok when I first put them on, but they stretch out and become loose after an hour or so.Also the legs seem baggy and wide. The legs look slimmer in the photos. Nice light fabric, but they end up looking like culottes rather than shorts.

Love these shorts but the material on the legs is pilling!! I have them in navy and beige. Pilling is happening on both pairs

Fit was fine through the waist and hips, but there was too much width at the bottom of the leg opening. I thought I could fix it by taking in some of the width on the inside leg with my sewing machine, but both sides had double seams and the pocket was in the way, so it would have been a huge production, not worth my time and effort. My thighs are not skinny, so the extra fabric flare must really be problem for those with normal and thinner thighs. This ruins what could have been a perfect pair of shorts.

I have this style in the same size in other colors and they are great but the black ones have been sewn with the legs a little tighter at the bottom. Ordered then twice as love my other ones but they have the same problem. Not sure why this would be but due to this they are not as flattering.

I love the way these fit and look. I also like the feel of the lightweight fabric and it is also quite cool. However, like many other reviewers have noted, the fabric does pile or pull. The insides have started to wear a bit after 4 wearings simply due to some leg stubble (a little embarrassing but the truth and I have never had that problem with any other shorts). I was going to order another pair but decided to hold off and wait to see if the outside of the fabric starts to be affected by the wear I see on the inside. For an expensive pair of shorts, this was not what I expected.

Like another reviewer, I found these super comforatable and loved wearing them around town, not just hiking. Unfortunately, now I will have to just wear them hiking as they have started to pill up on the back side after two washings and one hike where I had to scooch down a couple rocks. Now white light colored lint sticks to the pills and it is less than attractive. Too bad, expected more from LLB.

I have purchased two pair of the vista trekking pants and I love them; so naturally I thought that the shorts would be just as super; however, the material is not the same and is quite warm-does not "wisk away" the heat and moisture the way the pants do. They are, however, comfortable and of a good length.

Because I do not have an LLBean store nearby, I make all of my orders online. Therefore, I am very dependent, when picking sizes, on the fit of previous purchases. Several years ago, I ordered two pairs of Bean's Comfort Trail pants in size 6 petite. These have been exceptional pants for wear while traveling and around town. They fit very well and have held up beautifully. With this in mind, I ordered a pair of Vista Trekking shorts in size 6. The shorts are a very light weight material (good for travel in the tropics) but the they were extremely big in the hips, crotch and legs. The material is so stretchy and the fit so loose that I could actually pull them down without unsnapping. Consequently, they were not very attractive. Thankfully, for my walks through the rain forest the "look" was not particularly important, but I was disappointed. If LLBean is going to label products as the same size it would be helpful to have notes in the product description indicating that the fit in certain areas (e.g., hips) is very roomy. Won't return these but they will be stored and worn only on trips where appearance is not critical.

I have had these shorts in years past and bought two new pair this year to replace others that were literally years old. I bought my normal size which was a 10 only to find that they were incredibly tight. I then return them for a 12. The 12's were gigantic and required tailoring. I love these shorts because they have so many secure pockets. After only a couple of months of wear, they are pilling and look like they are years old. If I had not altered them I would be returning them. Again I love the design. I love the convenience of all the secure pockets but the wearability is just not there. Was very disappointed that I didn't get more than a couple of months out of the shorts at this price point. These shorts (I also have the pants version) are very functional because they accommodate anything I would put in a purse, without having to carry a purse. In all likelihood I will purchase again next year to replace these that look worn out.

First, as many have said, the sizing is off; I've returned mine for one size smaller so they won't fall off. Second, while I love that the material is light and dries quickly, I wish it were tougher! After light wear, two have "pulled" spots (a loop or more of thread sticking out); one, an entire "pulled" strip. I'm still buying them because I don't know where to get something tougher that fits. Seems to me that LLBean should have it right if anyone does! And yes, I've noticed that the mens shorts are light and still tough. PLEASE stop offering women cheaper quality clothes!!! (p.s. I'd also like to order my pants like men do, by waist and length, but nooooo....) Been with you for years; plan to stick around :)

The size chart is unreliable. Body measurements put me close to a size 4, or between 4 and 6. The size 4 is far too large. I could exchange for a 2, but I prefer the Cresta Trail Bermuda Short, so will return these. Also, based on how these fit, I'd need a size 0, which is not offered. Reference: 5'-2" and 105 pounds. Another comment: the double snap in the front closure seems too bulky on these very lightweight shorts.

I bought a pair of these shorts last spring and wore them a lot during the summer of 2016. Went hiking in the Rockies in them and wore for errands, and most everything. Love the zip pockets! I also love the fit and feel of the material. They wash great and were my go to hiking and walking shorts. By the end of the summer the seat of the material had pilled. Everything a bit rough you sit on snags them. I purchased another pair in another color this season, but only because they were 20% off. I know the material will pill again, so was extremely hesitant, even with the sale. I would not pay full price for them knowing they look as they do after one season. If you want a comfortable walking/hiking/errand running short for a season, they are awesome! If you want them to last, they aren't the ones. A bit pricey for 3 or 4 months of wear. I will wear last season's pair for yard work and around the house, but not out and about.

First of all I have to state that I am between sizes. I find that I often fall between S and M (or 8 and 10) in Beans clothing. I first ordered these shorts in a size 10. They were way too big but I liked them otherwise. So I re-ordered them in size 8. The general fit was better through the hips and legs...but the waist was way too big. Since there is no way to correct this (no draw-string or belt loops) they had to go back. This product is just not for me. For reference, I am 5'7" and weigh an athletic 146 pounds. Measurements are 37" 30" 38".

Although these shorts were very attractively designed and the fabric felt very nice, they just weren't flattering on me. I probably could have used a size smaller, I am 5' 2", 130# and bought size 6.. They were comfortable, but somewhat loose, and I could see them being too loose if they were to stretch during the day. I don't know if was the color, looseness of the legs or what, but I just didn't like them on me. I returned them.

I love the material of these shorts and the way that they wick while being worn. I just wish that they had a shorter inseam to make them more modern and attractive looking. I feel like I am wearing my mom's shorts every time I wear them as they are so long and frumpy looking. Just two inches shorter without having to hem them myself would make them perfect!!! Or have them come in petite sizing.
