They are nice sheets but not as soft as I expected for the price. Do more research before purchasing.

The fit was fine but the material felt rough to me. It was advertised as the feel of percale, but it was not that smooth, crisp feel i was expecting.

I am re-reviewing the queen size puma cotton percale sheets I purchased. While I love the print ones I have, the elastic on the bottom sheet of this solid color is not holding and the fit is "off". Like its cut on the bias- I cannot get the sheet to stay on where I put it and smooth out. The top sheet and pillow cases are great, but the bottom sheet is not of the same cut as the print ones purchased six or seven months before before. Disappointing

These sheets are cool, crisp, and utterly comfortable. Unfortunately the fitted sheets wear thin and shred faster than I'd hope. I've given these sheets multiple tries over the past 8 years, but this last one lasted less than 3 years. We have more than one set of sheets, so this hasn't been 3 years of constant wear. It's disappointing to say the least that sheets this expensive last for such a short length of time.

For the price I am disappointed with this purchase. They are NOT soft, and feel and sound like there is plastic in the material. Wish I had spent a little more and bought another company's product. Hopefully additional washings will soften them up. I would not purchase again.

Sheets are thin, not sure why they cost so much. I bought based on a review site's suggestion. I wish there were more bold/ dark colors available, I got the darkest blue and it's very much a baby blue. The hem is also very effeminate. Men need bedsheets too!
Overpriced,

I've had a set of L. L. Bean percale sheets for over 20 years. They are still in use and highly satisfactory. This set of, supposedly, percale sheets, is nothing like the old set. They are not the crisp, cool, smooth sheets I expected. They are entirely too soft, they are clingy, they are not cool, in fact they feel hot. Also, they're enormous.
My mattress is a newer, deep mattress but the sheets are super-sized. They were washed before using, used once for a week, washed again and used again yesterday. Last night, I had to get out of bed, strip them off and put on a set of proper percale sheets. I will be donating the L. L. Bean sheet set to a local thrift store. Too bad, especially when the cost of the sheet set is remembered!

I love (love love love) the texture of these sheets. They are cool, crisp (yet soft), and make me excited to crawl into bed every night. Overall I love the quality of LL Bean and I'm a big fan of jackets, backpacks, and slippers. However, this is my 3 & 4th set of them, as we buy two sets to switch out when we wash the sheets. I'm SO disappointed in the longevity of these sheets. Despite costing almost $200, each set of sheets lasted barely a year before both sets needed to be replaced. They have frayed and ripped in multiple locations and are just not holding up to what we would expect for the money. It's been longer than a year (by two months), so I'm not able to get my money back (or get new sheets), but I'll definitely be trying out some other brands when I go to repurchase. If you divide it out, these sheets cost me $40/month, and that's just not the kind of dough I'm looking to spend. So heartbroken, I truly did love them. :(

This is the second time I've bought these sheets. While I like the feel and coolness of the fabric, the sheets do not last very long. Also, the top sheet is too wide; much wider than when I bought the first set several years ago. I think LLBean must have changed manufacturers and the sheets are not made as well as they used to be.

A little too slick. Feels like a shower curtain. May be fine for summer.

I did not like these streets. Found them to be quite scratchy, and almost too cool. I do tend to sleep hot, but the feeling of sheets that never really conform to my body was not for me. Returning

I have had these sheets for years on my Queen sized bed. When I upgraded to a King, my first stop was LLBean. Boy was I disappointed. I had purchased a standard modern mattress without layers of pillow top, quilted this and puffy that. So my mattress is maybe 12" thick. The fitted sheet from LL Bean is so oversized that even with shoving a good foot of material under the bed, the sheet was so loose, I ended up waking up in rumpled mess. I buy percale sheets because they are crisp and cool - but that feeling is completely lost if you feel like you are sleeping on unfolded laundry. Top sheet was also way too big. I still love the material and if you have a jumbo mattress, these could be great for you. Otherwise I would look elsewhere.

This is my second L.L. Bean 280 thread count cotton percale sheet purchase. I returned the sheets because they feel like 100% polyester (like my shower curtain liner). Other reviewers have noted this and indicated that the slippery texture does not wash out.
I purchased my first L.L. Bean 280 thread count cotton percale fitted sheet in 2019. I was very pleased with the size, as I needed it to fit a 13" pocket. The sheet was oversized at first but, trust me, you need this to be prepared for the inevitable shrinkage. This first sheet lasted 2 years and 4 months before tearing at one elastic edge. Due to ongoing shrinkage it just barely fit the mattress and the strain also caused small holes above the elastic around the entire sheet. Finally, after 3-1/2 years from the date of purchase the body of the sheet developed two 6-inch tears.
I decided to order the "same" sheets given the positive reviews from purchasers and professional reviewers. However, these are not the same sheets I purchased in 2019.

Very disappointed. The sheets have a sateen feel and I ordered the Pima Percale set.

Honestly, but for the label, I would not believe that these were 100% cotton. All of my other sheets are percale or linen so I know what to expect. These are incredibly disappointing, especially given the price. I am not sure why these come recommended. I will be returning. Also,we got the pink clay cotton color and it is very depressing in person. Hospital vibe, if you catch my drift.

Whoever wrote the NYTimes Wirecutter review of this sheet set is obviously someone who didn't grow up sleeping on actual cotton sheets. These are sateen, not percale. They slip, slide, are shiny, and feel like a poly blend. I may return them, but am probably going to be unable to find anything better anywhere else. No one seems to actually know anymore how cotton sheets should feel. An expensive mistake. Ugh.

The sheet corners are not staying in place. It is annoying and uncomfortable to have the sheets gathered up in the center of the bed.

This fitted sheet fits fine when it first goes on. But after a couple of nights the fabric stretches so much it just bunches up all over the bed even though it is still firmly attached on the corners.

These sheets were highly recommended by the NY Times Wirecutter section. They are a nice percale texture but had a peculiar and unpleasant petrochemical smell when I took them out of the package. Assuming that washing would get rid of the smell, I ran them in a normal wash and then, when the smell was still there, in a series of washes with different additives (borax, oxygen bleach, and finally chlorine bleach). Nothing removed the smell. I finally aired them in the sunlight, which helped. The smell is very faint now. Obviously, I will not be buying sheets from L.L. Bean again!

The fitted sheet slips off. The elastic is thin. There is no elastic in the corners for mattress that are less high.

We have a fully king size mattress and fitted sheets are normally snug. Our new LL Bean king sheets are huge and several washings have made no difference. Loose and wrinkly every night. Sheets from JC Penny at 1/3 the price are perfect.
