Having worn Camp Mocs for years, I was pretty excited to get a new pair, but I have no idea what happened to quality control. The leather was stiff as a board, and a crease on the left shoe gouged my foot and left a blister on my toe. The size was weird too. They slip right off my feet when I'm walking, and they're incredibly wide to boot. I'm a pretty standard D width, but my foot sloshes around in these.
I've been wearing them for a week, thinking, "Okay, maybe they just need to break in," but I'm coming to the realization that maybe I need to stop kidding myself. I've loved LL Bean for decades, but I'm wondering if the quality's taken too much of a slide for me to keep buying.

Good construction but defective. Hard crease above instep on left shoe. Unable to wear longer than 1 hour. Wouldn't go away. LL beam still charged me for "connivence fee " to return. I wont be buying any more shoes from LL bean.

Had to return the first pair because it was too big. I ordered what I normally wear. Returned them and requested a half size smaller and they were about the same as the first pair. Will be sending those back and will not order any more shoes on line again. The shoes are nice and good quality but my feet have not gotten smaller since I bought my last pair at a brick and mortar store.

I really wanted to love these. I wear a size 12 or 12.5 (brand dependent) Quad E. (Yeah, I've already heard all the "good swimmer" jokes) Its so rare to see a moc or camp shoe at LLB that's wider than a medium ("D").
You can imagine my surprise when, as soon as they arrived and despite the fact I was wearing heavy cotton athletic socks, I hurried to try them on and... they were HUGE (as well as being very, very stiff)! On ME! I literally "walked out of them" crossing the bedroom. 13s at the very least, maybe larger? Anyway, when I called customer service a very kind lady patiently listened to my sad tale of woe and explained how simple it is to send them back. And not to worry, the return shipping cost will be deducted from my refund...
Seriously?
BOLD!

Shoes run big. I'm a 10.5 shoe size which is what I ordered and they fit like an 11+. Also, the soles make a loud crackling/popping noise with every step. You couldn't wear them in public cause the noise is so loud. Very disappointing. Returned them immediately.

I own tons of LLB stuff and shoes and mocs. These are so stiff that they are unwearable. I would be willing to break them in, but my feet would have to be steel. The quality is beautiful, they are really well made - of petrified leather. They are also one full size too large, as I wear 13 and they seem loose at size 12. Wouldn't really know as I could never actually walk in them. We LOVE LL BEAN's products. Just not this one. Returned.

My moc's like they we used by someone in the dessert , scuffed, poor finish, and looked like they were wet snd then dried. Neve again will I buy a product from you sight unseen. I always used Sperry Top Siders. I'd return these except for the lock down. I'm willing to send photos.

Beware, these shoes are almost BLACK. I purchased the Cactus color. The default site image shows is a light tan. What I received is almost black, See attached photo. Compare the color of the cardboard box to the shoe. Now I have to pay $6.50 to send them back for a refund. If you don't want black shoes, don't get these. I've been a Bean customer since the 70's and this is the first time I've seen something misrepresented like this. On a brighter note, the fit true to size.

You used to have them available in a narrow width. The only width available is a D and it is ridiculously wide. I can't even wear them. i have tried to put shoe inserts inside them but even they don't compensate for the width.
Never again!!

I agree with many of the reviews. I have owned a pair of dark brown camp Mocs since High School in the 80's. They were truly the best slip on shoe ever made. They looked great with shorts, jeans or Kahki's. You could where them out for a nice evening or to take the trash out. The longer you had them the better the look and feel. My friends would compare the battle marks on them. Please bring them back like you did the Anorak jacket.

As a gal with very wide feet, boxes fit better than shoes, I have been buying these for several decades every 2-3 years. Oh my are these now being cut narrow. I have managed to squeeze into them. I literally lost feeling in my toes. Tried using a shoe stretcher to release them a bit as with leather they should give. Still no go. The leather used is so stiff that it just doesn't give. Try three to wear them and I see the stitching is pulling and the shoes are still fitting like binding my feet. Very disappointed my go to shoe seems to be lost to me.

These shoes run large, extremely large over the stated size. I am over 60 and have worn a size 10 medium since I was 14. I order size 10 medium in many brands, both dress and casual shoes.
I ordered a 10 medium in this shoe, and as soon as I took them out of the box I could tell they were way too big, at least a size 11. I returned them and ordered a size 9.5 medium. No luck, as these were again too big.
I am out $13 in shipping for returning the two pairs of shoes. I will not try again.
Buyer beware.

Before I ordered these shoes, I read the negative reviews, most of which had to do with them being too large. So I ordered a half size smaller than I usually buy. The shoes that arrived (Made in El Salvador) are a good 3/4 inch longer than my other casual shoes. The fit is very loose with over an inch of space between my toes and the front of the shoes. So how does it happen that, after all the criticism from customers, the fit is still so off? I wonder whether Bean is making these shoes in different countries, so that you get different sizes, depending where they're made.
They seem like nice shoes otherwise. But I'll never know, because I'm not interested in paying shipping just to try on another pair. I'm sending them back

As many others have mentioned, I found that these shoes are about 1/2 size too large and are too wide, also. I ordered my usual size in shoes and, in these, my foot is sliding around in them. I like the look of the shoes, but am returning, not exchanging, them because I don't want to keep having to pay return shipping until I find a pair that fits properly.
Also, most men would probably want to wear these without socks, especially during the summer. Why is LL Bean trying to make us always wear them with socks?

I have been wearing LLbean Camp Moc's for 20+ years- I have owned 4 or 5 pairs during that time. Was finally time to replace my last pair- as soon as I took it out of the box I could tell it wasn't the same ole' LLbean Camp Moc. The quality of the leather was far inferior to my previous Moc's- it seemed much thinner and has already lost some of it's shape (after only a few weeks)... the seam across the foot is already not tight, and the fit itself seems bigger than previous pairs. It sure seems that the quality of these shoes is far inferior to what it once was ... and it is no longer made in the USA... disappointed...we will see how they do in a few months...

The toe of these shoe is too "pointed" for me. I prefer a more rounded toe, like a "moccasin."

can't say how they fit, as I never tried them on. opening the box they looked black, not dark brown, as my other 4 pair had been.
Good shoe, if you want black.

Have been buying these shoes fo over 20 years. Probably 6 pairs.
The color that was delivered so called dark brown was not even close to what was represented in the catalog or my mocs purchased in the past.

This is the second time I've ordered [and returned] this shoe and for the same reasons. I wear a size 81/2 and the first time ordered that size. It was HUGE and was probably more like a 91/2. So, this last time ordered a size 8 thinking that it would be snug and stretch [as LLBean indicates it should and would] but again, it was HUGE. Even with thick socks being worn. I will not be trying to order this shoe again. This is the only company that I have had this problem with.
LLBean is a terrific company with great products but their sizing, at least on this item, is way off.

I ordered a pair of these shoes, when I got them there was a card in the box that said they would feel tight at first, WRONG, they were very loose and the leather was stiff and looked cheap. I called and the rep said they were probably mislabeled for the size, they sent me a second pair, no difference, they were large and the leather was also stiff. I called and told them the second pair was coming back and I did not care to try for strike three... I asked for a refund.
Bought a similar moccasin made by Sebago, they fit like a kid glove right out of the box. Bean seems to be using cheap mfgs. and and as a result their quality is not the same as you have grown accustomed to.

Moccasins were sized way too large. I first ordered my size:10. The shoes were too large. I exchanged for size 91/2 and they seemed even larger. I wear size 10 with other shoe brands. Perhaps the manufacturer is sizing the moccasins to be worn with thick wool socks, which would be quite ridiculous. I've been a loyal LL Bean customer for 40 years and was quite disappointed in this product.

I have been wearing camp mocs for years. They seem to get wider and wider. I used to be able to order a Narrow width, but you stop making it? Is a narrow available anymore? It is a great shoe, "suitable for so many occasions" but the quality seems to be getting worse not better. I am disappointed because when I find something that works, I am faithful. I had to return this item. I still have a fairly new pair (they last for years) which is just too wide. I was ordering a size smaller to see if they would fit better. I also find they run small in length, so the bottom line is I am out of luck. I will have to give up what has been a reliable standby and seek a camp moc by some other source. I have already tried the Sperry and it is not a good quality. So still looking else where, but alas, it will not be LL Bean. A pity as far as I am concerned.

I had an original LL Bean pair of camp Moccasins i purchased back in 1988 that were built in the USA. The shoes were GREAT due to being comfortable in bare feet and being built exceptionally well and honestly the shoes got better looking with use. I finally wore my moccasins out a few years ago and thought nothing of purchasing a new pair. The new pair arrived was night and day different from the original. The new pair has an insert that must be worn to keep the show on and as the description states on the web site "light socks provide best fit". The leather is not the same thickness and quickly looses its shape with just a few wears. I hate to see a US icon like LL Bean change their standards to save some labor--if it is built well and by US hands US consumers will remain loyal. I did not return the shoes - I simply through them away.

My husband has a difficult time finding wide shoes, I ordered these shoes in 2W. When they arrived, we were disappointed to see that the shoes were not close to that width even considering the fact they were leather and would stretch. Will not return as a customer.

I've bought several pairs of these shoes for my husband over many years and a 10EE has always been just the right fit. The pair that I bought this month were at least 1/4" to 1/2" narrower and shorter than his previous pair. I even checked the box and the stamp on the inside of the shoe to make sure it was the correct size. I don't know if the manufacturer or the sizing has changed recently but the fit certainly isn't what it used to be. Needless to say, I'm extremely disappointed in this product.
