While I shopped around and determined that the camp mocs offered by L.L. Bean were the shoe to buy, I was not impressed that the size of the shoe was not as ordered, or stated on the stamp inside the shoe. I ordered a size 8.5 M which is the shoe size I currently wear. While the mocs looked great and the construction seemed to be very good, the shoe was about a half size too big. I did not reorder in the next smaller size because of a fear that these would not fit either and I did not want to incur an additional return fee for a product I did not feel reflected a correct size. I did incur the fee to return the originals I had ordered. At this time I am not sure that I will ever order another shoe product from this retailer.

I need a 4E Width but I ordered these anyway in 2E (the widest size available) because otherwise they were exactly what I was looking for. Big mistake!! They are very stiff and not at all supple and are very uncomfortable for me. To make matters worse, I probably wore them enough trying (unsuccessfully) to break them in that Beans will not likely take them back!

Got my 1st pair of size 10 about 8 years ago. They got heavy use, at least 6 days a week. They wore great and fit perfect. Since then my shoe size has increased to 10 1/2, which I ordered a few weeks ago. Right shoe was loose and left shoe fell off my foot. As is customary with great customer service at LL Bean the 10 1/2's were replaced with size 10. The new size 10 fit well on the right foot, but very loose on the left foot. I have never had a similar problem before with any shoes. Not sure I'll be keeping the size 10's or returning them.

Definitely size discrepancy between each shoe. First pair one shoe was noticeably larger than the other, easy process to exchange for a new pair. Same situation with new pair. Other reviewers have mentioned same issue. My son chose to keep them anyway, fiddling with the laces and wearing thicker socks since we didn't have the time to choose another pair. He states, after a few weeks of wearing, he had adjusted to the discrepancy and it is not as uncomfortable as he feared. Still think this is something LL Bean should address, for this price they should be uniform sized in a pair. They are sturdy and well made.

These Mocs run too large. Usual size is 9 so that is what I ordered. They were too large so I ordered an 8 1/2 which was still too large. I ordered a size 8 which did fit well. Unfortunately they arrived with several distinct bad scuff marks as though they had been previously worn. In addition the two shoes did not match in color. One shoe was a dark colored leather and the other a lighter colored leather. So I have again returned them for the same size and hopefully they will match and not be badly scuffed. Fortunately Bean stands behind their products and usually makes things right even after several returns. I am a good Bean customer so satisfied overall with most purchases.

I ordered a size 8 Moccasin, but they were more like a size 9 or 10.I ordered the medium width but they were still to wide. This is the second time I've ordered shoes from Bean in size 8,but they were still way to large. If I buy shoes from Bean's again I'll have to go to a store to try them on first.

I've been wearing these shoes for over 25 years and as w/ pretty much everything else, they don't make them like they did in the past. I had a pair that I wore for maybe 6 months and the soles cracked thru where they're siped on the bottom, whoever makes them must have cut them too deep. I sent them back for an exchange and to Bean's credit they sent a new pair no questions asked. This pair had leather that was significantly stiffer than the previous shoes, but I wasn't going to complain. Now after 3-4 months the soles on these have cracked again. I'm not going thru the hassle of sending them back, I'll just glue the soles and buy somewhere else next. You'd think a Signature version w/ better leather and the old wedge sole would be a no brainer, c/mon Bean, give us what we want!

I have been buying LL Bean leather camp moccasins for, probably 50 years. And this was the first pair I didn't like - and don't particularly enjoy wearing. It used to be that the moccasins would break in fairly quickly and become softer and more comfortable to wear. The leather on these moccasins is much less pliable. In fact, I have been wearing them for nearly a month and they are still too stiff to be comfortable. I don't know if LL Bean is using a different supplier but I do know I would not buy another pair like the moccasins I have now.

My husband always wears a 13m in golf shoes and others. These were too wide/large. He loved the shoes and hated to return them.

First, the sizing issue: I'm a true 9 1/2" in the foot. I ordered a half size down to a size 9" (after examining user reviews). Still too long. Next I will be trying a size 8 1/2". Who makes shoes so inconsistent in sizing? Bean can do better in that department. Second: The quality feels cheap, not even $80.00 dollars good. They look almost comical to me. If you could compare an older moc with the more recent moc, well, you'd be disappointed too. Perhaps the high rating on this product is more indicative of nostalgia and/or inexperience rather than an assessment of it's actual current quality and value. I'll be keeping mine to beat around the yard in, but I don't think I could wear them out in public. Why not a Made-in-USA "heritage" edition --a higher quality (and understandably more expensive) version of the historic, all-American and iconic L.L. Bean Camp Moc (and other iconic L.L. bean products as well)? I'll even pre-order it. All that being said, I'd recommend this "camp moc" for a gardening shoe, nothing more.

The first few times I wore these the left shoe dug into my foot just below the ankle bone. I hope they loosen up. Otherwise I cannot wear them

I bought these to replace a pair of moose-hide mocs I'd bought from L L Bean that were wonderful but eventually wore out. Bean no longer sells moose-hide mocs, and these seemed the best of the alternatives. I wanted laces that encompassed my heels; waterproof soles; and no fur/fleece/flannel lining. I bought the same size (14 D) as my old mocs, my street shoes, and my tennis shoes. When I received these new mocs I followed the instruction to wear them inside for a few days, to let them stretch and adjust or "mold" to my feet. But these mocs are made of very hard, inflexible leather; and they did not adjust to my feet. They remained rigid and inflexible. They made my feet sore. I tried wearing thin socks and I tried thick socks; but no joy. Finally I returned them to Bean and ordered a pair of Minnetonka classic moose-hide mocs very similar to my old Bean mocs, from another vendor.

I ordered these mocs thinking they were exactly the same as the ones I've worn out over the last 5 years. They looked like the only ones which could be the same among all of the ones available. However, I was very disappointed when they arrived. They were not smooth brown leather but had a dimply surface and were larger that my old ones (of the exact same size). I haven't decided whether to return them or not.

My shoe size is 9.5 D. These shoes looked great, but I couldn't walk in them without my heels pulling up and out of the shoe. Tightening the laces made no difference. The toe-room at the front of the shoe was just right, so a smaller size wouldn't do. I returned them with no problem from L.L.Bean. I bought a pair of Rockport boat shoes online elsewhere, and the same size fits very well.

Overall, the workmanship was fine, but the fit was poor. I was unable to adjust using inserts or cushions for a comfortable fit. Check the sizing first.

Unfortunately we had to return the shoes twice. They are beautifully made and are very good looking. However, after having to return them twice because they were too big, we have decided to go to the L.L. Bean store in Freehold hoping we can find a pair to try on and buy on the spot. We ordered my husband's regular size, they were too big, went down one size they were too big as well. We were sorry to have to return them as they really look nice on the feet. We will definitely go to Freehold and see if we have better luck.

I have owned a pair of these moccasins for years and love them. Unfortunately, you have eliminated the "narrow" width, so I can no longer buy them.

Like so many other ll bean shoes these are narrow in the toe bed and my husbands feet are average width. I would only recommend to friend to try normal verses wide width. Some of ll bean shoes are the only ones my husband ever needs a wide in. We will be returning. Other than fit they are a nice moccasin.

L L Bean should get the manufacturer to change the size of the shoe lasts they are using. They are much too large compared to what customers expect. My normal size is 13, but when I put them on, I had over 1.5 inches of extra room. I then tried the size 12 which is acceptable, but still a little loose. This experience reminds me of the downside of ordering from a catalog, even one as good as L,L.Bean

I used to love these mocs; I've owned and wore out countless pairs since the early 1980s. They were my absolute first (usually only) choice for all my off duty/weekend/vacation footwear. My Dad loved and wore his just as much. But someone in the last few years decided to update the design. The formerly comfy rounded toe is now much narrowed...and the comfort is gone. I reluctantly returned my most recent purchases of my formerly favorite shoe... PLEASE bring back the original design!!!

I deliberated long and hard over ordering shoes online, which is a little like buying a used car over the telephone...but, okay, i went ahead and purchased two pair--these moccasins and a pair of tennies. and am now kicking myself in the rear with those very items. Although both are size 14 (what is a 14, anway?) the moccasins are much too large and the tennies way too small/tight...and, ironically, it is the moccasins that are most uncomfortable, painful, even.

I had to return this product as it was the widest size you had in it yet it was still way too narrow for the friend I wanted to give it to for Christmas.

I usually wear a size 10 Medium shoe. The first pair I ordered proved to be to large, and the leather seemed quite stiff. The re-ordered pair (size 9 1/2) was also too large. (What gives with LLBean's moc sizing? I experienced a similar issue with another LLBean product.) I've owned a pair of LLBean Camp Mocs for over 20 years - except for the soles being worn (very little tread left) and the rawhide laces being stretched, I feel they could last another 20 years - and provide comfort as well. I do not have the same confidence in this product. The leather is very stiff (almost carboard-like), the laces are flimsy, and the inside does not appear to be finished as comfortably as my 20 year old pair. I probably could have lived with the fact that these (new) mocs would last as long as my original pair; however, the size issue (possibly solved by ordering a 3rd pair!) simply caused too much frustration to re-order yet again. I feel that LLBean needs to validate this moc's quality and size at the factory - not depend on its customers for ensuring the quality of its product.
