I love Arcteryx but having worn a Centrale for many many years this parka was disappointing. It is not as warm as the Centrale and longer--falling below the knee. The length for a 5'3 person was not a good look:)! I returned the parka and continue to wear my old Centrale that has a malfunctioning zipper. All that being said the fit is to size.

I have an older version of this parka that I bought about 6 years ago and it's an amazing jacket. When I purchased another one, I was expecting the same quality. The new one I bought in a medium (my old one is a small) and the zipper has already started to come undone and it's only been 4 months. It's not as durable and the material seems different. I read the reviews but didn't listen to them because my first one was so great. On the plus side Arc'teryx is really good about fixing or replacing items.

I am generally a very warm person (even very sweaty) but this jacket is not very warm. I bought this jacket just the other day and wore it right away. I wore it to work in Toronto where in the morning it was -11C and with the windchill it was -17C. I can still feel my arms get cold and my thighs were freezing. I wish they had the Centrale jacket again because that was much warmer. I actually have a short, synthetic insulated, goretex Arcteryx (Fission SV) and the warmth of my core when I wear that is comparable to when I wear this, which is disappointing because the Patera is down insulated. Nonetheless, I was surprised to find myself cold when usually I'm very hot. I do like the style, wrist cuffs, and goretex. The hood cannot be tightened so if you have a small head, it wouldn't fit well.

The parka works well in all kind of weather conditions and the fit is very nice. Unfortunately I was disappointed by the quality (for this price). The zipper was broken after a few months. It had been repaired, but broke again. Also the zipper of the pocket does not function well. Besides the zipper, the color of the fabric faded after a while, which gives the parka a little shabby look. I wish I could be a bit more positive, because I really like the fit and comfort..

I bought this coat earlier this year in the hope it would be my perfect winter coat. Sadly I am disappointed. It is definitely not as warm as I expected and have got cold wearing it (& I usually run hot). The zip is incredibly fiddly to do up. The colar at the front rubs into your neck making it uncomfortable. The lack of anything to keep the hood on/tight is annoying. Finally the black colour is not black black but a sort of very dark grey. All in all feel like I spent way too much on this product for how it has turned out.

This is a warm, well designed coat that has a nice slim fit. However, the coat arrived very crumpled (not sure how to get the wrinkles out?) and the fabric is a nice matte but its a bit of a lint magnet and I wish it were blacker (it looks a bit worn).

I live in Calgary. This jacket with an icebreaker sweater underneath has been amazing. I also love that it is not bulky looking like a puffer. My only concern is the zipper. I feel like a 2 year old learning to zip up a jacket. It takes a few tries most times and I am worried the zipper is going to permanently fail at some point. Otherwise love it but anticipate zipper surgery in the future. I expect a higher end zipper for the price point.

I agree with some comments made by purchasers who live in some Canadian cities and complain that it is not very warm. I have an older model and I can only use it in the spring and fall in Ottawa when it is rainy and cold. It is very well suited for these conditions. But for mid-winter in a place like Ottawa when it can regularly get to -20 and colder, this parka is definitely not warm enough.

5'9 125lbs, 32DDD- medium frame. I am really struggling with sizing. The medium fit my arms well and wasn't too tight, I could wear it with a thin layer or sweater and move my arms, but the body had way too much room and was too drafty. The small was a much better fit in my body however the arms were very narrow. With a thin top on it was okay, I could still tell it was snug but didn't prohibit movement, however with anything thicker like a winter sweater, it was noticeably tight on my arm and under my arms, leaning towards uncomfortable. Part of the reason I was looking at new coats is because the coats I have now I have sized up to wear bulkier items under and find I ALWAYS need to bulk up or else I am cold and I wanted a jacket I didn't need to do that with. This jacket I can either have one that I again need to wear layers under to stop the excess airflow between my body and the jacket or I can't wear anything more than a thin shirt with it. I know my arms aren't the most narrow, but they are pretty proportional to my body and aren't large, generally speaking, so anyone who thinks they have larger arms or upper body, you might struggle with sizing as well

I bought this jacket this winter. It's really warm and the cut is amazing (fits broader shoulders nicely). However, there are some issues: The front zipper is really tricky to close and I always need to take off the gloves in order to do so. It's annoying Also, the inner pocket is too shallow and my cell or cards keep falling out. I always keep it closed, but in stores where you need to open it to get the cards then bend to pick up the stuff you just bought, everything just falls outmy cell broke this way Considering the price, the design should be better.

I bought this 2 weeks ago. 5'5" 120 bought a medium. I am I'm between sizes. Small was a little short in the arms and I could not layer anything with it. The length is really long, to my knees. Warmth is marginal - at 25 degrees I was cold. It is very good in the rain. The fig color is gorgeous! I own 5 other Arcteryx pieces- so I am a fan. This Parka just did not pass the test. I am bummed.

I'm 5'0 and 110-115. I am normally an XS or S in arcteryx and went with an XS in this coat. I am still drowning in it! the chest fits perfectly and I like the long length but the shape is not flattering at all since there are no baffles or cinching or any other detail to show where the waist is. I look like a Navy log... BUT it is warm and not super loud like a rain jacket, outer Fabric is softer.

Bought this one month ago. Just hiked around the grand Canyon and cold temperatures and snow/hail. There are so many fantastic details to this coat. Very well thought out. Two major misses however. first, the bottom snap at the base the zipper is too small and in adequate in holding together. This needs to be a larger, more robust snap. Second and most importantly, at least the last two bottom panels of the coat interior have absolutely no down or insulation whatsoever. The panels are soon but there's nothing in them and so the coat does not keep me warm. Both of these things should definitely be remedied.

The colour macrame is beautiful, the style is flattering - but the coat is to my opinion not warm enough for wintertime. I am wearing heavy fleece under and here in Denmark we have max minus 5-6 degrees. I would recommend this jacket for autumn or early spring, but not for winter.

I just bought this to test it out in the New England area. Went out in 31F weather and I definitely felt cold creep up the bottom of the parka and onto my upper body. I was only wearing a light sweater underneath, but this is never an issue when I only wear a light sweater with my Marmot Montreaux. As I walked around for 20 minutes in the weather (no wind, just 31F), my arms felt a bit chilly as well. I know the down and synthetic down is distributed in such a way that the arms are a bit more of a cool area (to allow ventilation and waterproofing) if the material gets wet). The positive is when I walked inside, I wasn't immediately dying from overheating. It does seem like it'd be a great coat for someone moving in and out of buildings. As for sizing, it is a loose fit. I liked how sleek it is on my body, but again the bottom of the jacket nor the waist do not have a cinch, so cold air will creep up. I wish they added a cinched waist. I am 5'6" and 112 lbs, and the xs was perfect. I could fit a crewneck or hoodie underneath, but it'll be slightly tight. For my use, I'll either return, or I'll have to wear a light jacket/sweater underneath if I choose to keep it and the weather drops below 32F.

I purchased this coat last year, and within a month the zipper started separating while I was wearing it. I took it back - and it appears I was the second customer who returned the coat for the same reason. I think the zipper choice has been changed this year. Made me look slim, and I am not. Most down coats make me look like Michelin man.

I bought this coat yesterday in store and was assured that it would be warm enough but sadly after wearing it for 1 day I wish I had purchased something else. In order to stay marginally warm in 17degree Fahrenheit weather I had to layer a cashmere sweater and a wool hoodie to get through the day. I'll need to add a technical layer daily plus a sweater (2 sweaters is insanely bulky) and I still wont be super warm. Even with the layers today I could feel the cold. This is not a proper parka for below freezing temps. Seems great for fall and very early spring but not for Jan, Feb and March. I would have spent a bit more to get a proper parka from this brand and been cozy but now I'm going to have to layer way too much and not be comfortable. Even more frustrating that I took the time to go to the store and ask questions etc. Also, the zipper is glitchy and it's been 1 day. This is a great brand so I am surprised.

I have the older model of Patera (2018) and I loved it. Unfortunately the zip broke and after reading that the model had been updated and made roomier on the waist, I decided to buy the new version. But so disappointing! The sizing is off, I normally wear a S but in this model my shoulders don't fit! I like that it's wider on the waist, but why change the rest?? Also the fabric feels cheaper compared to the older version and the hoodie fits weirdly tight when not worn.

As a person who runs fairly warm and even sweats in my older winter jackets, this jacket is not warm enough. I live in Toronto and this parka can't even keep me warm in mid-November when the weather is not even -5C. I have an old Fission SV that is discontinued and that is even warmer than this parka (the Fission SV is synthetically insulated). I'm not sure why they discontinued the Centrale parka since that is a warmer parka. Very disappointed in this jacket which is surprising as I love all my other Arcteryx pieces. Only thing I like about this is that it is GORETEX and the style is flattering to wear to the office or out to dinner (Centrale was also this style, so again, not sure why Centrale is discontinued). Save your money and get a warmer parka.

I wish they'd make a version that would reach right above the knee for a 5'4' woman. It's way too long for so many of us. Reaches right above my calf, looks unflattering and is annoying to walk in.

An okay coat. Not super warm for Canadian weather, maybe could be comfortable up until -5 C but don't expect it to keep you warm without a sweater underneath. Started to show wear and discolouration after 2 years despite only wearing it occasionally and carefully washing it once with special detergent. This cost is not built to last. I found the hood to be too big and unable to block all the ice and snow. For the price I as expecting

We love this style. Very classic. Unfortunately, we wish the coat could be more friendly for petite girls, my friends and I are 150-153cm, and the length hits below the knees. We had to return the coats.

I bought the Patera parka in December 2021. I just washed it and the colour from the inner cuff on the sleeves has now transferred to the outside of the sleeves of the coat. I washed again, and it's a little better but still not right. Also, the zipper now doesn't work. I thought that this brand was so high end in quality, it was expensive. I'm very disappointed, I really like the coat.

I have loved this jacket for the last year and a half and today my top zipper pull fell off. I live in B.C. and it kept me dry in the craziest of wet weather. Now I have no winter jacket which is upsetting as this jacket was an investment.

Some good features but disappointed in the fit. I ordered an xs but still find it very room through the body. It's very loose and boxy allowing too much air to circulate and preventing it from really providing enough warmth. Adding to that issue is the snap below the zipper - it constantly pops open allowing the cold air in. The zipper also needs work- the stars need to align to get it to zip up. I have a lot of Arcteryx products and have typically been happy with them but this one stands out as a disappointment, especially for the price.
