Purchased Patera Parka in 2022, overall the coat is light weight, petite size has the perfect sleeves and coat length and waterproof, however the tiny snap buttons are of poor quality, and inadequate for coat of this calibre, as they easily 'pop open'. These tiny snap buttons are suited for tops such as blouses, shirts, etc, not for a winter GORE-TEX down coat.

I love the new color Box Car! Ive tried this coat in so many times - cozy warm, wind/rain proof, and very flattering on 53 hourglass figure, 140, size M (room for layers)

10 stars for this massive hood with slight bill. The coat is very stylish and flattering. This is definitely a city persons coat... very slick. It will definitely keep me dry and seems reasonably warm, though I'll need to layer for sure. Only change I'd ask for on it are more pockets. IMO, all winter coats should have an interior AND exterior chest zip pockets, along with low interior mesh or sling pockets for something like a hat. True to size.

An okay coat. Not super warm for Canadian weather, maybe could be comfortable up until -5 C but dont expect it to keep you warm without a sweater underneath. Started to show wear and discolouration after 2 years despite only wearing it occasionally and carefully washing it once with special detergent. This cost is not built to last. I found the hood to be too big and unable to block all the ice and snow. For the price I as expecting

I purchased this jacket in Dec 2020 knowing I would be spending a lot of the winter outside. I read some reviews about the zipper but ignored them figuring these people were exaggerating. The jacket is definitely warm and has some nice features like the wrist cuff. However my biggest complaint is that recently (after 2 winters of mild wear - mostly walking my dog and driving in a car to work) the zipper pull ripped completely off. This left me with a half zipped coat during an extremely cold 8pm NFL playoff game. The worst part was I could not unzip the coat so I had to have someone yank it off of my many layered form. It has now been 3 weeks since I've contacted the company with no solutions. As an aside, another company (who highly values sustainability and has a comparable product) completely replaced a zipper on a used jacket and only charged my $5 for the shipping. I think if you are purchasing a high end item like this it should last. Hoping for some follow up from the company and if that happens I will absolutely update my review.

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
I really wanted this coat for its lightweight and sleek style but I hate the design of the collar/hood section. I’m 5’2” so perhaps a taller person wouldn’t have this issue but for me, zipping it up to keep my neck warm means having a very stiff collar in my face. On a winter coat I think there must be a soft inner collar to make the neck snug without hampering the ability to eat (for example) or breath and it definitely should not chafe. I couldn’t adjust this to have the hood up without 1/2 my face being covered. Also I don’t ever like a zipper in my face and neck. In cold weather this painful. I’m looking for something with a separate inner down collar and maybe a zip off hood. For a city coat this is the best option as wearing a hood when dressed up looks dumb. The coat is otherwise beautifully made and it’s clean lines make it fine for dinner out or whatever. For the price I expect perfection.

I bought this revised edition after having my previous Patera for a couple of years and LOVE the updated fit! Its a little longer in the back, and fits better across the shoulders than previous versions while being roomy enough across the torso to fit a sweater underneath if needed. I've even worn it as a ski jacket in a pinch when I left my other jacket - why not!

My wife loves the Patera Parka. It's great weather coverage - rain, sleet or just cold and she's set.
It works well in dressy situations as well as casual errands.

I bought this for my daughter in law as she gets very cold.
She is 51 and loves this coat. It is just below her knee and keeps her lovely and warm and is super smart and elegant.

I needed a new winter jacket and I wanted one that would last so I bought this for the winter. It is windproof/water proof and great for mild winters. I found that I get cold in temperatures below approx -5C so I was slightly disappointed because of the hefty price tag. Perfect for windy/slushy/wet weather but wouldn't recommend for extreme cold.

I have had this coat for a week. I love its weight and, so far, it has kept me warm and dry, although I have yet to test it in temperatures less than -5C.
I have two criticisms. One is the "neck gasket" is very stiff and irritates my face. I'm hoping it will soften up with time and, meanwhile, I either turn down the neck or wear a neck warmer.
The other criticism is with the inability to "cinch" the waist. I bought an XS and there's still plenty of room to wear extra layers underneath if needed. However, the body is not shaped in any way which, not only isn't very flattering, but also lets in cold air. An adjustable waist would be appreciated.
I am a daily walker and wanted a "visible" coat so went with the colour Solitude. I would have preferred a bright colour, such as red. Maybe brighter and more visible colours can be considered for future versions?

I just bought my second Patera jacket after my first one was worn beyond repair. I love the light weight, big warmth, and total wind/waterproof protection of this jacket. My first one was black and this time I got it in figment, which is a gorgeous colour. I took one star off as dust and dirt is very visible on this outer material and hard to brush off completely.

I've been wearing this jacket almost everyday for a month and am very happy with my purchase. The jacket definitely delivers on warmth especially on windy days. I was worried about the length because I'm short (5'3") but it hits enough above the knee that it doesn't feel too long at all. The jacket is a bit stiff and puffy, but this might go down with time and I also find the zipper to be finicky sometimes.

I bought this coat about a month ago and am so happy with it. It is very warm so you don't need a lot of layers, it has pockets with zippers including a breast pocket and the hood stays up! It is a sleek looking coat as not tufted like traditional down so good for city wear.

I love this coat, it is a lightweight down, so not the warmest coat I have but not too hot either. Perfect for getting in/out of car into shops or the market. I love the length as well.
The only thing I don't like it's I wish it had more pockets and a deep interior pocket for my wallet. Also the exterior fabric, although soft, also holds pet hair. Do not wear this around a shedding pet!
All in all, I'm glad I purchased the coat, and I've been getting lots of compliments on it.

I loved the old style Patera. It was warm with sleek styling. Despite the disappointment of having to replace the zipper myself and the prematurely fading fabric (black, which after about 5 seasons is faded and shiny over all the seams and snaps), I ordered a new one hoping the improved zipper and a different colour would fare better. But now the style lines are different, and the same size (S) looks huge on me, especially the waist. Unfortunately after contacting customer service at Arc Teryx to find out how different the new style lines are and being told the change is hardly noticeable, I felt safe ordering it in the same size from a site that doesn't do returns. So I will be selling a brand new parka. I should have ordered xs to account for the new sizing, but understood the change was very slight. I love Arc Teryx in general and all of my gear is very functional, which is why I'll still give it 4 stars, and the zipper does seem much improved. But be aware it does not fit anything like the previous style. I am 5'5", 128 lbs and pear shaped. A small would normally be a safe bet for me.

I've been wearing this coat for a week now and despite some critical reviews here, so far I absolutely love it! It was expensive but I believe you get what you pay for, and I'd rather spend more to get something great that will last. I'm slim but tall, 5'9", with fairly broad shoulders, and this is the first coat I felt wasn't too tight in the shoulders. I've only worn it in the last stages of Scotland's damp, cold autumn so far, but it's been snug, windproof and totally waterproof.
I notice many people here commented on it not being warm enough, but I did my research and understood the Patera is suited for a cold, wet, windy and more temperate winter, as opposed to the deep freeze of sub-zero climates. So if you live in places like the Pacific Northwest, the UK, or northern Europe, it should be perfect. If you need warmer, then go for the Centrale. For me, it's perfect - well fitting and sleek but with enough room for more layers on the days it goes below freezing. I have the 'Dimma' dark aubergine colour which is a great change from basic black or blue. It weighs next to nothing, and is like wearing a warm hug. Basically I love it!
The cons? I can appreciate all the comments here about the flimsy zipper, so time will tell if it goes the distance or breaks. And the fabric isn't as robust as many waterproof coats. But I tend to take good care of my stuff so fingers crossed it holds up, otherwise I'll be sure to get in touch with the customer service team! If I had any other minor suggestions, it would be to make the entire pocket linings fleecy, rather than just the one side, as well as putting a softer, thicker fleece at the top of the zip that rubs against your mouth and chin as it's a bit rough.
But aside from those minor points, I finally feel ready for the oncoming damp, wet and rather miserable British winter for a change!

I bought a size small and the fit on my 5'1, 119 lbs frame is just perfect. The parka reaches to my knees which is what I wanted, arm length is just right and there is enough room for a nice warm sweater. I wondered about the band around the waist if it was going to look awkward. But on someone my size, it fell right on my waist. I like the material they used. I like the style, I think you can use it for casual or formal occasion. The only sticking point, are the zippers. It's very hard to zip up, and took me several tries to get it zipped up. It was easiest if you're sitting down as you're zipping. It is annoying and If there was a reason for me to return this parka, it would be because of that. I can't comment on how warm this is, but seems to me it might hold up to our Canadian winters.

I love this jacket, it's practical, both warm and dry, big hood, soft & deep pockets, warm yet not bulky, I love the band around the upper waist, it is great for walking around the city on cold winter days and in the back country too. I love this jacket..

I bought the Patera Parka online a few weeks ago since the store did not carry XXS. I especially like the dark hazelnut color. It was very warm when I tried it on indoor. I did not try it outdoor as even with XXS, it was too long, fall below the knee, and too wide in general for me. I'm 5'1" and 95 lbs. Even though it was light and had a comfortable feel, I returned it.
I hope Arc'teryx will come out with a size for the parka that fits petite women. I like it a lot but it doesn't fit.

I bought this 2 weeks ago and love the feel of it. It's very lightweight and has little filling, which makes it great for communicating (I'm not sweating on the train or bike), yet it's surprisingly warm even in negative temperatures here in Europe. It's also been rainproof on the first few showers.
It's also been great on my city bike
My main problem is the zip - it's so hard to close and I'm worried that it could break in the near future.

This is an okay winter jacket if your main goal is rain protection. The bottom half has no insulation so your legs are not kept warm. I returned it as I needed something with more insultation on the bottom.
