Extremely comfortable. Like walking on air. More midsole/arch support than its predecessor.

Please dont change a thing about this Escalante! I had the many of the Escalantes - the last pair i owned are the 2.5 they were good then get got too sloppy - felt like my feet were moving too much in the shoe, These feel like the Torin 4.5 plush! you need to bring those back too! Anyway - please- Altra do not change anything about this shoe! its well-balanced & and light weight... i do recommend you add more colors to this shoe ;)

I purchased several of the Escalante 2.5. Very disappointed when changed. After giving the new version a chance I love them. My foot is wide too but the upper mesh has stretched. I love the height of the sole. I will repurchase these over the 2.5.

These shoes are so comfortable, I walk around 6 miles a day. They are very lightweight and the first pair of walking shoes that didn't cause blisters on my heels. I will definitely purchase them again.

I love all 14 of my Altra shoes (7 pairs) and I do not find it necessary to wear any other shoes. Having said that, if you made other styles, I would not be unhappy.

I have an older pair of Altra Escalantes and it was time for a new pair. They arrived today so put them on and went for a run . The toe box is nice and open. Padding is perfect for running on asphalt. I am ready for the Cap 10k in my new Escalantes!

I am new to Altras so I can't comment on the different between these and the Escalante 2.5. However, I love these shoes. The wider toe box is so comfortable. I wish I could buy these in a million different colours!

I really like the "wide shoe box". I have a narrow foot, and it feels really comfortable for me to spread out my toes. I have worn them for three weeks, every other day, so am getting used to the "zero balance" design. Initially I think that I felt it in my calves, but now my calves have adjusted.

Love the wide toe box and the zero heel drop. I've been wearing them for a while now!

I love these shoes! I have been wearing them for years and have no intention of changing brands or styles. I do bootcamp for exercise and they're perfect because they're wide in the toebox for my toes to spread out and stabilize me. I suggest getting 1/2 - 1 size larger than usual.

True to width for Altra which I do feel like has gotten smaller. 2.5s were too stiff, the upper here is stretchy and foam is bouncy. Took me back to my 2s which I missed dearly! Cute laces too!!

When I first got them, they looked goofy but I put them on and they were sooooo comfy. Then I saw them on in the mirror. They don't look goofy when they're on. They actually look good!

I bought theses shoes for indoor workouts and have not been disappointed. After a few weeks of wear, I can say that they have just the right amount of cushion for me and provide a stable platform for whatever single-legged moves are thrown my way. Very comfortable and fit well on my high arched, narrow heeled feet. This is my second pair of Altas, both standard footshape, and can now say that I'm a fan! Assuming they wear well, I'll likely purchase again.

Right out of the box, these were comfortable on a run. The wide stretchy toe box fits a bunion pad. Love that this shoe has zero drop plus some cushioning. Cute color and laces too. Very happy with my purchase.

First time buyer of Altras, got the Escalante and the Torin. Wasn't super impressed by the Torin but these shoes are so comfy. I'm a walker not a runner and these are some of the comfiest walking shoes I've ever owned - I did a 10km race the other week and no issues at all, where I would usually always get blisters or foot pain. I love them!

Very comfortable, natural feeling shoe.
