These are probably the one of the most comfortable shoes that I have ever worn. I like them so much that I bought two pairs. However both have had peeling bottom tread that I have needed to glue back into place multiple times starting about a month after purchase. Now the tread is starting to wear down on both shoes after about 6 or so months. Instead of buying another pair I will have to look elsewhere due to quality issues.

Bought for road running distances up to 27 mile. On first use I was disappointed in the narrow fit that squeezed my feet and the length felt half size smaller, giving an exact fit to size feeling. The inside toe line has a hard lining material which was very painful to my toes constantly rubbing against it on both flat and on down hill runs. This lining caused damage (abrasive, ripping and bleeding of the toe nails) to my first and second toe nails of both feet.

I've loved all my Altras except these. I most recently put hundreds of miles on Torin 5s. I bought the 6s and would return them if I could. Inside the shoe on the outside near where the Peroneus tendons attach there is a half inch strap that appears to have no purpose other than to stretch out after a few runs, then bunch up every time you wear the shoe. This causes a hot spot, pressure, blistersdiscomfort to the point that they aren't wearable on runs

First of all love altras. However, the torin 6 just did not hold up like I wanted them to. The lighter material started to tear. Both my wife had a pair of these and same results.

I am disappointed in this shoe. It came highly recommended to me so I took the chance and spent the money. After a month of using them I can't even do a quick tredmill workout without my feet hurting. "OUCH. "I guess these aren't made for a bigger guy to get some miles in. I really wanted to like this brand.

After years of wearing another brand i wanted to try something new. I was recommended this brand by several people. I took a chance and picked up a pair. For the cost I thought I would get more than 1 month of workouts in. As a bigger guy I guess they are just not made for us. At first they felt great but now I can't even get a couple miles on the tredmill in without my feet hurting. I really wanted to like this brand.

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
After a few weeks, the sole of the show began to detach. Got a replacement pair and in 2 days the sole came off of these too. Plus, the fabric is coming loose from the show and wearing thin and tearing a hole in the curves of the fabric. I love altras, but these are the worst pair I’ve ever bought.

This was the last straw for me. After 10 years of running in altras, it's time to move on. Quality has continued to decline.

I logged 60-80 miles in these shoes and the outsole is completely peeling off the right shoe. I have never had this happen in 25 years of running. I wrote Altra about the issue, and they said there is nothing they can do. How can a company stand by a product this poor? The ride was great, but the cost is over $1 per mile? Apparently, you have to be rich to wear Altra trainers. 1st and last time with this company.

I purchased the shoes for walking and last only 2 months. The outsole started to fal apart and now there is a holes on the side. These shoes should have a warranty. What is the process of returning the shoes and get my money back?

Liked these well enough at first. Miss the OG Altra last, but these still have a wider than normal toebox, which is a big plus. Good ride, plush with a little softness but not overly squishy while running. But then ... After ~10 miles of running, I started feeling something weird bunched up under my toes on the right fit. Checked after my run, and not only the sock liner, but the MIDSOLE ITSELF had started to deform. Noticeable dents where my toe pads and ball of foot press down, creating a ridge under my toes, which is what I was feeling. How does a midsole deform like that after 10 miles? Unbelievable. Returned immediately.

As other reviewers have noted, Altra has cut these considerably narrower than previous generations of Torins. It was the wide toe box that brought me to the Torin in the first place. This feels like a completely different shoe, even in the wide size. So disappointing.

Likely poor quality control during a manufacturing run. The mens torin showed up with tears in the mesh, the grip on the soles began coming off in the same places on both shoes almost immediately.

The Torin 5 was the only road running shoes that fit me properly. I was excited about the Torin 6. They fell apart after a couple of runs. The heal is too short so it pops out even with a runners lace. The friction destroyed the heal in less than 50 miles. The shoe also doesn't bend evenly. There's a clear bend break at the front two-three inches of the shoe. You don't even need to wear them to see it, grab the toe and bend it with your hands. This nearly broke my big toe since it puts all the support to the tendons of your foot instead of providing a protection of over-suspension and compression on the foot. Literally the only thing the shoe needs to do if you buy into the zero drop thing. I can't imagine anyone tested this shoe. The Lone Peak 7s are great. Just do that shoe and replace the studs with more rubber base. Not sure how someone got the Torin 6 into production. They put it on sale but they can't even give it away on other sites.

I really tired to wear the 6, but it felt awful on my foot. Too loose in the heel, to tight in the fore foot, too loose in the instep. The fit of the 5 was great. It allowed me to enjoy running for the first time in a long time. My fore foot felt like it could relax and the heel fit great. The 6 feels terrible in comparison.

Not sure what happened to the traditional (and reason I even purchased Altras) wide forefoot shape. These seem to be made by a different company, or at least a different mindset. Too narrow. Don't buy.

I waited so long for these 6s to replace the 4 pairs of 4s I owned. I have trained for 100 mile races in them and loved them. These aren't even Altras anymore. They have gone after the mainstream market and going for looks over sticking to what they are known for. There is no foot shape anymore! The tongue cut into my ankle after 3 miles! They did a lazy fix. There used to be no break in period. SO DISSAPPOINTED! I have owned 12 different pairs of trail and road Altras over the past 5 years. I have sold them to 30+ people. I am going to have to try out some new brands now. Bring back the best running shoe ever known...Torin 4! All the people giving positive reviews never felt the originals......these are just stylish shoes now....not "altra....i mean Ultra shoes...."

I've gone through several pairs of Altras (a couple Escalantes, a couple Torins, and Paradigms), and THREE have ripped on the outside seam (Torins and Escalantes), right where the upper sole connects with the midsole, near the arch/middle of my foot. Both of my Torins had this happen and one pair of Escalantes. Only the Paradigms have survived. And this is usually before I hit 200 miles, so well before the Altra 300-500 mile warranty. However, when I reach out to customer service they tell me this is "normal wear and tear" and not a manufacturing defect. I love the concept and vision for Altra shoes and want to wear them, but this keeps happening!!

Like many other shoes I have had from Altra the quality of the soles are terrible. This is the forth pair I have to file a warranty claim on because parts of the soles are separating. It cannot be that difficult to find a good adhesive. These shoes are expensive and don't last even a half year under normal use. They should definitely start making a one piece soul instead of piecing them together. I have attached pictures of three different shoes that I Had to file a warranty claim on.

I tried two different pairs of Torin 6's and the toes in both pair had a crease that would cut into my toes on day 1. They also feel a bit smaller than my Torin 5's. I wanted to like these as I have three other pair of Altras and love them. Returned for a refund. I will not buy another pair until I have verified they have remedied their issues.

Absolute garbage. Several rips after a couple weeks of light use. Right shoe also squeaks with every step. For the price tag I expected better. Can't even wear them anymore as they are falling apart.

Ever since Altra was acquired by VF Corporation in 2018 the quality and design of the shoes has slowly declined. I've owned several pairs of Altras including Superior, lone peak, Escalante, Torin, and Rivera. With every subsequent model there are "updates" (more like downdates) that ruin the shoes. I'm left baffled by these very questionable design changes. The tongue in the Torin 5 was like a knife and cut my ankle after my first and second runs which were pretty short (3-5 miles), after that I tried folding the tongue over and that helped alleviate the chaffing but made it uncomfortable at the same time. I never wore them again and went back to my old Torin 4, which now have over 500 miles on them and are breaking down. Thought I would try the the 6 and the tongue is still uncomfortable. I run ultra marathons and I'm used to chaffing around my toes and feet but I've never experienced a shoe tongue that cuts into my ankle. Terrible design. I don't care how the shoes look if I can't run comfortably in them. The shoes have also gotten narrower which is disappointing. I loved the wide toe box as it fit my regal toes. But now Altra is trying to be like every other generic shoe company. I used to recommend Altras to everyone but sadly, I can no longer recommend them due to the decline in quality and comfort.

I loved these shoes initially. The feel and comfort are exceptional. They also look great. That's where the positives end. I wear these in the hospital 3 days a week. I don't run in them and they are not taking a beating on gravel roads and sidewalks. They just on the hospital floors and they lack durability. After 3 months of wear, the soles are separating on both shoes. I walk about 10k steps per shift, 3 days a week. This is the first pair of shoes I've EVER had in the hospital that have broken down like this. Quality is a joke unfortunately.

I have an old pair of torin 2s which I love. I'm disappointed with the new 'standard width', it's too narrow. I hope they go back to the original width on the torins. They hurt my feet so returned.
