I love running and walking in this shoe. Honestly haven't worn a better shoes than this in recent years. I enjoy the zero drop sole and the wide toe box is ideal. It really has revolutionized the way I run.
That being said, I've gone through two pairs in 4 months. No more than 75 miles each shoes and the quality is just not there. The bottoms of the sole tread are ripping off, the seam where the sole and shoes meet are ripping. There are tears on the top of the shoes. The quality is so frustrating because I love the shoes so much. I just don't know if I can continue to invest in such a pricey shoe that is just going to fall apart after two months.

3rd pair of Torins I've owned. Shoes fit well, but durability leaves much to be desired. As with previous pairs, tread separates after a month or so. Until they fix this issue, I will not buy again.

I tried the regular fit, and it was very tight. Not necessarily width, but the volume of the toe & mid-foot.
I ordered a wide and it was big and sloppy.
Also, the tongue had this weird foam-filled plastic thing near the top. I can't imagine it not irritating the foot.
Finally, the heel came way up on my Achilles. I didn't actually run, because of the fit, but it sure felt strange.
Does the shoe designer even run?
I've owned many Altra over the last 5-6 years, mostly Escalante and Lone Peaks. These are not the Altras that I have grown to love. I'm not sure what they're trying to do, but it won't please their traditional fans.

They keep cutting this shoe down. Size and cushion is horrible. I purchased the wide and it's too wide. Go back to the Torin plush.

Both Torin 6 shoes started to rip at 100+ miles! See pictures. Altra quality has really gone down these pass few years. Altra is needs to go back to their roots and make shoes for runners not for Payless Shoe stores! Over the pass 6 months I have had two out of the 3 models of Altras I purchased fall apart in less than 100 miles. As a loyalist, I am starting to have the feeling of not supporting this brand anymore because the quality is not there and the company is seeming to drift away from the running world and more as a lifestyle vibe.

I've been a loyal Torin wearer for 6 years. This shoe bears no semblance to the Torin line. It has no cushion. The sole of the shoe is stiff and uncomfortable. The previous model I wore for 12 months is softer than the brand new pair even after a week's attempt at breaking them in. The forefoot is narrow and made of a material that grabs the sock and bunches it up when you attempt to put the shoe on, and you spend several minutes trying to fix it to no avail.
As for the "foot shaped toe box": it seems that at this point if the shoe bears the name Altra on it, that is the only requirement to label it foot shaped. The shape of this shoe in the toe box is aggressively curved and narrow, chopping down toe space with the result being a shoe roughly akin to a saucony. In the future, when you change a shoe so much that it functions nothing like its source material, discontinue the previous model, name the "update" something new so we know we need to start looking for something else.
TLDR: This shoe doesn't look or feel like a Torin. I would not recommend it.

Where has the altra toe box gone? Almost all the cusioney shoes are the smaller than normal altra toe box. Selecting a 2E just makes the whole shoe sloppy. The tongue is like thin plastic that you have to fight to straighten out every time you put them on. Not a fan anymore.

The rear heel seems like there is nothing too it. I wore them to physical training aggressive boot camp like maneuvers . Also running. .43 miles around the block. The shoes were terrible. I'll stick with my brooks. They were only good for walking if anything.

The Torin 4 was the best shoe on the planet. So much so that I bought 3 pairs. The last pair is finally wearing out. The 5 was just awful. I can't even give them away. The 6 is marginally better. Have any Altra employees actually worn these? What's with the tongue?!?! What's amazing is that the second person at Altra who saw that did not say to the first person, "You're fired." If you want us to buy more shoes, listen to your loyal customers and keep what works. Just make new colors of our favorite shoes. I've moved on to the Provision 6 and they're ok, but they're not the Torin 4.

The tongue isn't great, flips itself over on the edges when I'm putting it on. And there is part of the interior on the outside of the shoe that also flips itself over when putting it on, causing a bump. The toe box feels bigger too.

I've been buying Torin from the beginning but if they're are going to make them like this I'm done. The tongue is horrible I had to cut it down to the top string. Please fix it Altra.

My new Torin 6's have 88.3 miles on them. Not even 2 full weeks of training and already have a hole inside the heel cup. They are comfortable. Fit good. Look good. But it doesn't look like they are going to last very long. I purchased these for an everyday trainer but it appears the quality is not going to allow them to last very long. For this much money, they should last much longer than this.

The Torin has been my go to shoe for years but I'm disappointed in this iteration. I ran in these for about a month and minor parts are coming undone. They are getting away from what altras are supposed to be.

Unless I'm wearing sandals, I've been running, hiking, and working every day in Altra shoes exclusively for a decade now. I put in a lot of miles running both roads and trails. I was waiting eagerly for the Torin 6 to come out and I've now put 50 miles on them. The good - I love the overall fit and cushion of the shoe. At 200 lb I'm a big runner and am looking for a high cushioned zero drop wide toe box neutral shoe that gives me as much cushion and as flexible a sole as possible while maintaining my natural gait. These run and fit awesome. I love the Escalante too, but at my weight, I need the extra cushioning in the Torin. And the Torin 6 is a great overall upgrade from the Torin 5 - better cushioning and wider toe box. EXCEPT... for two key issues. 1) Altra did not address the issue of the pointy tongues that so many reviewers complained about in the Torin 5. I literally have ankle calluses from the Torn 5, and the tongues of the Torin 6 are pointed and rub my ankles while running in the same way. All my other Ultra road and trail shoes have a tongue with a gap in the middle and are softer and lower. Altra, why the big pointed tongues on the Torin? It makes no functional sense. Listen to your customers... so annoying! 2) I had to go through several pairs of Torin 6's to find found a pair that worked due to inconsistency in sizing in different pairs of the same size shoe. This included clear abnormalities in the toebox of R vs. L. I loved the dusky teal color, but tried two pairs and found them both to be noticably narrower than a pair of the same size in white. The wider white shoes fit me better and I sadly sent the teal shoes back. One of the pair of teal Torin's I tried had a blemished fold in the toe box, the other was normal, but both pairs were clearly narrower than the white pair. It was not a lacing issues, as I loosened and retightened all laces several times. This spring I had a similar issue finding asymmetry between R and L shoes in the Mount Blanc. I had to order three pairs to find a R and L pair that matched. Altra has great shoe designs that so many of us have come to depend upon. It makes these issues so much more frustrating. Come on Altra, get the QAQC together!

I had the Torin 4.5 before this (freaking amazing). These?? Altra changed the toe box to a little smaller. My pinky toes now rub the outside and are getting sore. My heel still fits perfectly though so I feel if I go up a size then my heel will slip. I messaged customer service a couple of times but no response.

While they improved the tongue slightly I thought they would have done better. While it no longer cuts you it still is somewhat uncomfortable when wearing lowcut socks. It also does not stay straight and rides to one side. Would have liked to see the shoe with the tongue that was on the Torin 4.
I have worn Torin's for years but it is time for me to move on.

I walk, stand, and do short runs. I have the Torin 5 11.5, but it's too roomy in forefoot and a bit too long. I ordered the Torin 6 11.0, but alas it's far too snug in the forefoot even though the length seems OK. Seems the Torin 6 is a much lower volume shoe compared to its predecessor.
My feet really want the wide forefoot. I'm stuck without knowing what to try next. I tried Altra "live chat" but that was useless.

Had these shoes for a little over 30 days. Did some light running and normal everday activity. There's already peeling and on the right shoe lateral, the fabric is already coming apart. Won't refund me

Salesperson says Altra no longer makes the Torin 6. Got Torin 7 and its a whole different last/ narrower toe box- NOT an Altra. Whole reason I seek out Altra is the big toe box running shoe. Torin 6 is now just like Nike for people with narrow feet or people who dont run long distances with normal feet.

Bought Feb 2023; my last hope for staying Altra; and less than 10mi/wk of light road running, in June, tread started peeling (i.e. < 100mi including wearing to the office desk job). Superior 4 is the last good shoe I remember. After Superior 4.5s, toe box kept getting narrower and tighter. Switched to Escalante 2.5s to chase the natural fit but had to size up .5. They deflated < 200mi, picked up shin splints. Torin 6 = worst. Altra new models w/"original style" toe boxes are now mystifyingly tight across the top = stress fractures. I had hoped the Altra buyout would lead to more consistent fit for each model, better QA/QC, and lower prices from all the benefits of a bigger company in a competitive market, but the empirical evidence suggests less complicated designs (e.g lace holes used to have cinching properties that integrated with structure of the fit as well as the one-sided tongue -they were not moving a mm after they were tied), less durable materials, and disproportional price increases. I get big box retail wanting to push a trend of zero drop and roomier toe box than a Nike, but I'm shocked running stores are still stocking Altra. I don't mean to sound arrogant or man-splaining in what I wrote; it's just a big disappointment to resonate with a company that you feel understands what you need only to lose it after 8 years and start from square one with this crazy expensive trial and error process of finding the right shoe.

The foam on the edge of the tongue cuts like a knife into the front of the ankle, and curls along the sides when putting the shoe on. Cushion in the sole of the shoe felt great. Heal cup fabric tore within 30 miles of use, causing blistering whenever I wore them afterwards. Tossing them out today after 40 miles of use, feeling wasteful since there still plenty of good tread on them and they're still look new.

This is the third pair of Altra's I own and this is the worst one. The tongue digs into the top of my feet. Both feet were bleeding when I first started running in them.

I've bought Altras for years for just casual wear. The Torin 4 plush was perfect. So perfect I bought the same pair 3 times. After over a dozen pairs of Altras I bought these. Within the first day sole came apart. I had to use glue to keep bottom part of the sole attached. It still continued to come off. I eventually had to cut it off as it would get caught on things. Reached out for replacement. I was denied right away (with very little questions or sympathy) b/c I didn't buy directly from Altra or it wasn't a 'verified' purchase. Looking at different companies now. The decline in quality was one thing, them not standing behind their product is another. Altra used to have customer loyalty. Sad to see that go now.
